QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) Not really, we've been down this road before. If you dismiss everything as untrustworthy and accept absolutely nothing at face value, well then you may as well just live in a bubble and never go outside. I need to change my avatar from a straw man to a bubble man.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) summarize kap: I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT BUT I'M GOING TO COME ACROSS AS REALLY ANGRY AND SURE OF MYSELF SO YOU THINK I DO!!!! I'll say this as nicely as I can. Learn how to read (I - w i l l - e v e n - t y p e - t h i s - s l o w - f o r - y o u) for comprehension, because I was pretty respectful of all opinions on what I said.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) So, apperently... Respecting the Bodies of Fallen Soldiers w/ Cameras Via TPM- Bulls***. Bush did do it but always made sure the cameras were not there because he didn't want it as a photo op. TPM can STFU and so can you on this subject. Obama went, they took pictures, I may not like it but he did what he did (I'm not going to cry about it, like some others, though), and that's how he wanted it handled, so that's it. End of story.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 03:10 PM) We had unofficial halloween down here last weekend. Me and a few of my buddies went as a bunch of senile old men. It was awesome. That's me on the right, and yes I shaved my head for it. That's awesome.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) The stimulus spending isn't close to halfway done yet. The "stimulus" spending is not "stimulus" because it doesn't go to the right places.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) I was wondering how it would be possible to make that dramatic a shift in such a short period of time. Even with a cooperative legislature, that level of fiscal turnaround success would be unheard of. My mom works for an auditor's office in a county in Indiana and they are a nightmare mess because of what Daniel's done.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) The reform-minded conservative Indiana's governor: Making headway in the heartland http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/2...d-conservative/ From what I understand, Mitch Daniels is a f***up of epic proportions. He's simply shifted the tax burden from the state to the local municipalities and therefore has cooked the books on the so called surplus.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 06:12 AM) His chin looks like balls. I'll be doing the kid duties for Trick and Treats. They will both be zombies this year. I will be a triclops. Ah yes, triclops the one eyed monster who will be looking for some revenge after the kiddos go to bed.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) If their laptops were confiscated, they could probably piece together some idea if they are being honest about working on them at that time. I personally think they fell asleep. I don't in this case, because that would give them an out to scream about poor working conditions and the FAA probably wouldn't have suspended them. With that said, pilots (crew...) sleep all the time. I know because I've been on countless flights jumpseat.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Barney Frank is a f***ing idiot. And he's honest, which is the scary part.

This is extremely sad on one hand and hysterical on others. http://newsbusters.org/blogs/mark-finkelst...role-government Barneys Frank just says it like it is. Shhhhh... don't tell everyone the plan! But then him calling out Nader's irrelevancy is funny.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) and there's a difference between doing what she is doing, possibly voting and at least working with the opposing party, as opposed to actively denying your own caucus the ability to vote on their biggest legislation in 60 years. That's quite a difference. But, obviously, i forgot, everything is equal blah blah blah... If a Republican threatened to filibuster against tax cuts, filibuster against defense spending, filibuster, etc. you see how far they get. Honestly. It's not even in the same realm. John McLame says hi.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 12:52 PM) Its amazing how often that happens - invent a drug for one purpose, find it works as well or even better for some other purpose. Oh yea. The place I worked at has the molecule for the paste stuff horses were given for deworming. A little dripped down the side of the horse one time and it cleared up a skin condition. So, the company bought it, and now they're releasing a psoriasis/rosacea drug next year and the clinicals are pretty good on it (as of last year anyway). There are some other molecules that were for eye drops and it also cured skin conditions around the eyes that they are looking at as well.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) Believing that the system we have set up is no where near as effective as it could be does not equal believing that the system we have set up hasn't done any good. Kap's avatar. However, you all pick your strawmans to demonize the current system so that we get the government to run a new one. It will make what we have now look like the best system in the world, which, OMG, it is. Go figure. Is parts of it messed up? Damn skippee it is. But you don't trash the whole damn thing to fix what's wrong, unless you're the government trying to take over the whole damn thing. But whatever, no one on here is going to change their minds on anything anyway.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) Yeah the guy totally deserves preferential treatment after going to the RNC convention and talking trash about the Democratic nominee while talking up the GOP candidate and the grossly incompetent VP pick. Wow. Some of you are getting your panties bunched up over this. I mean, the Democrat Party stands for everyone except "conservatives", right?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) Kap, there's now prescription medication to grow thicker eyelashes. They invent diseases like Restless Leg Syndrome and then sell you the cure. You cannot argue that the profits incentivize the wrong things some times. Sometimes, sure. But there's a ton of crap that never gets talked about that gets demonized for the few that bastardize the process for the benefit of cancer, heart disease and other major ailments.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 03:55 PM) Somone remind me why so many Dems backed the Independent Joe Liebermann vs the Democratic Challenger Ned Lamont. Good question. Other then he had the ties for 35 years or so.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) Yep. I generally don't have a problem with legitimate religions having tax exempt status for legitimate reasons. Got it. I just wanted to make sure I understood what you were saying right. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) The reality is we're actually getting the exact same scenario that he's threatening us with as the horrible end. Drug companies have been churning out fewer and fewer drugs from year to year over the past decade, and its not because patent laws have gotten stricter or anything. It's because they've basically focused on coming up with only the highest profitable drugs and products, things that aren't actually cures for anything but give you lifetime treatments that you can get a whole lot of people, preferably on Medicare (Since they can afford it) taking for a period of decades. There's no profit in developing a vaccine for AIDS, or modernizing the flu vaccine system. There's lots of profit in finding a way to keep your E.D. treatment behind a patent wall. Those billiions in R&D he talks about go to the drugs you see on TV, not to the things that might benefit society the most. You're talking out of your ass. There's a ton of research that's done for billions and billions for all sorts of stuff, not just viagra and cialis. But, it sounds good to attack whatever the immoral justice of Amerika is for the day, right? Greedy ass health care system.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) I thought affirmative action was a bad thing and that we were supposed to live in a racially-blind world? Unless you're a hispanic, black, asian, woman, (whatever) conservative.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) you understand how our gov't works so well don't you? No, I'm obviously a f***ing ignoramous tool. I'm obviously dumber then your hangnail on your pinky finger. Please. I realize that you're obviously smarter then me.
