You know, that's scary, I've known you for over 50% of my life now. Ack. Yea, Strange, I know... one of these days, I actually will hit one of my "ideas" and I'll remember my pals at soxtalk.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 13, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) You can't patent/trademark something like Groupon (the idea), which is why it's being copied by everyone right now. Well, kinda. I guess the point more is I had the same type of idea 12 years ago before it was "hip".

QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Dec 14, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) 15% Tax vs you and I around 33%... LOL. So pitch in more and bend over. You are the 1%.

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) And I believe it is fair that investors who are interested should expel some effort to learn. I have just "trusted the system". Hmm. I'm not sure I agree with Mr. Southsider here. I think most people really don't understand the underpinnings of the American financial system. Maybe I'm naive.

Exactly. You know, I have had that happen to me at least three times now. I had a business plan for a groupon like deal in 2000 (ask SS). It's not exact but it's pretty damn close. I could see that one coming and I'm the in debt pennliess bastard. I wrote a paper for my MBA that is 100% my plan, literally down to the 4P's. Too bad I didn't patent the process then, because I'd be worth millions. And, my fearless (har har) prediction that immediately after the Beijing olympics there would be a world-wide financial meltdown. But that one doesn't really count.

Forget anything I've ever said about health care for a moment... act like I'm a new poster or something. I've spent most of my weekend reading the issues with health care and the costs rising, and how to actually (FOR REAL) bend the cost curve down. I think I said at the very beginning without the Kaperbole that you have to get off of the medicare reimbursement matrices. I still (and even more so now) believe that's a big deal. But - I have a Henry Ford moment in front of me. If I could do this in a dog and pony show, I will rescue our country. For once, I think I'm serious. There's a way to actually cost this stuff out that would change the dynamics of the whole health care debate. Who's with me to be on my save the country tour? And the biggest thing is, the people in the health care industry, nor the insurance industry, would lose any MARGIN. Money, yes, but no margin. (I love it when a little research goes a long way).

I know. That was like in the second hour of the second second upon the witching minute, I so counted all of it. Er, so my only friend in the world said. He thought that the 18 foot abcessed tooth with fleshy stuff coming out was weird too.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 26, 2011 -> 12:08 PM) The longer I'm around, the less I care about the end of the world. Bring it on, I say. It ain't like Brucey is going to save us or anything.

QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 11:11 PM) If the world is going to end, then why store food? I kinda thought the same thing. But supposedly, this will kill off all us puny people and purge humanity from the abyss - only leaving the really strong to survive. Or something. Me say caveman.

20 beers, 18 shots, 4,000 bottles of wine. Plastered. Oh, and have an 18 foot ... :o

Our new controller from Mexico has some friends that are really into the Mayan thing... to the point where they have dug tunnels and are storing food. She said that there are even more incidents then what's documented about all of this but no one is allowed to talk about it. Basically, it will all come out very close to the date so that too many can't prepare for the impending doom. So, we all only have a year to live, and we're all gonna die. Coolness.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 25, 2011 -> 07:52 AM) Don't really know where to put this, but feel like it should be posted... Maggie Daley has died after a 9 year battle with Cancer. 9 years. Wowsers. I can honestly say rest in peace after dealing with that for that long.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2011 -> 08:03 PM) Lieberman has that effect on me. Did you just get the urge to punch your TV?
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 19, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) How am I blowing his statement out of proportion? He is literally advocating for displacing unionized janitors with poor children under the age of 14. I think I just found my candidate since you hate so much.

I haven't been around for a while, but I'm glad he found what he was looking for.

I hardly ever get the "newest" technology but I got a Razr yesterday. Pretty amazing phone. My 4G speeds were 18mbps download, 6mbps upload. I should get rid of my home internet for that kind of speed.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) It's true, no one ever mentions that Romney is a political weasel who oversaw a state-level template for ACA and who agreed AGW is a real problem that needs action at one point but now strongly opposes both because that's what will win him votes. Hmmmm. Well, isn't that shameful?
-
My co-worker, who is a raging lib, and I were talking today and I'll say what I said to him... it's not that regulations themselves are a problem, it's that there are way too many overlapping regulations in about 5 layers of separate agencies. Stream line that, and you fix a ton of the problems out there. He agreed. So can we agree on that?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) How Congress gets to trade on insider info... http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=738...n%3BcbsCarousel This should be the single biggest scandal ever. EVER. But notice, no one is even talking about it.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) Here come the quotes about Newt's support of the DREAM act, a national health insurance mandate and cap and trade by the way. And why don't they bring this up for Mittens? (let's see if you indeed do get it).

Well s***, that means Pei Wei and PF Changs will be more expensive. What a load of s*** for Americans.

Just like that, St. Louis wins another world series.

QUOTE (scenario @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Facing elimination with 2-run deficits in two consecutive innings... and they come back both times. God, I love baseball. Down to their last strike, twice, as well.

2 run walk off double. Bets anyone?
