QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) Well for one I know the Democratic Party cares more about the people than the Republican party and 2 the democratic party doesn't run Canada. And Kip, how do you know the Democratic Party cares more about people?

winodj, you keep talking about what the program will cost. Oh, but wait, isn't that money already there? NO! It's because it's been robbed, by Dems and Reps alike, for decades. I have already determined that the money I put in for Social Security I will NEVER see, unless I'm 85, disabled, or dead, which ever comes first. I simply view this as another 6.25% of taxes I have to pay, because it sure as hell is not going to be there when I retire (unless I retire when I'm 85, and s***, the way it's going that's how old I'll have to be). So you keep pulling the stuff that says that social security is way ok, anad totally fine and will never ever go away for us twenty something or early 30 something people. Do you really believe that?

on starting the business up or what?

According to John Edwards, there sure as hell is. So which is it? I'd like to think it isn't, but when people that take the stance that the government has to do it all for us, from provide our retirement to provide our health care to provide us a place to live to protecting the environment, it sure gets to be a point it's us versus them, and frankly it's pathetic. This has nothing to do with profit. It has to do with keeping more and more money out of the government. Let me use lotteries as an example. I think lotteries suck, because it's the easiest form of a tax against the middle and lower class there is, you know why, because rich people don't play the lottery. And the government counts on it and preys on people. It's bull s***. Is profit involved in that? No. It's the government taking what they can in a legalized form of gambling. Watching the Dems disenfranchise voters by scaring all the old people that the GOP will steal your money is maddening. GMAFB. I am not even going to dignify that with an answer. Just call him King John I. :rolly I disagree with the patriot act, at least parts of it. But I'll leave that alone for right now.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) Yeah, we couldn't possibly come up with a better system than Canada. I love GOPers confidence in America's abilities. :puke I'm glad you want the government to figure it out for us. God forbid that WE THE PEOPLE figure it out and think for ourselves. After all that's why we elect these assclowns, so they can think for us.

Janet Reno looks so much like Mrs. Doubtfire it's not even funny.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 03:38 PM) Overstock.com. I want to donkey-punch that slut.

Every country whores themselves out to the US, except France and North Korea - who almost did, which is why we're all pissed off at them.

It will all balance out in the end economically. I can't wait for a couple of major environmental things to come along, like certain recycled products that will totally revolutionize the way plastics and other common products are made. That's where the real money can be made from an environmental standpoint. And that day is coming more quickly then you might think.

Commercials are just stupid in general now. At least Bob Roaaaarrrrrrhhhman isn't in Dallas.

You're right in a sense, but a lot of the text talks about how they went "overboard" for GWB's visit. You know, politics aside, it's ok that they went overboard to protect a couple of very important leaders in the free world.

QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 09:01 PM) I just got back from spending a few hours with her and her husband. She has an appointment with her therapist at 4 and she's going to talk stuff out with him. Her grandmother agreed to go with her to her Monday appointment whatever that's going to do, I don't know. There is no legal action she can take. It's been over 20 years since the incidents took place. She seems to be in a positive state. More than anything she just wanted to be sure she wasn't crazy and it did happen - I guess it being true is more theraputic than it being just a dream as crazy as that sounds. We both did a lot of crying. This is just something I simply don't understand, and don't think I ever will. All I know is that it took an awful lot of strength for her to confront her grandmother. I don't know if I would have that strength. Soxy thank you so much for the website. I was on it all night last night getting info and I did call them this morning. They were very helpful to me in dealing with her. Steff, good luck, and do what you're doing now, and that's be there. I think that is the most important thing anyone can do. It takes a strong person to be someone's comfort in a time like this, and you're up to the task. I really applaud your efforts - continue being strong... for your friend as well as for yourself. Take some time this weekend and veg a little, to give yourself a chance to not think. It'll help. to you and your friend.

Yea, I bet ... well, nevermind.

I did read the story. And I know the suit is over the German government's restrictions. However, they are all bitter because of Bush being there too. And like I said, I stand behind the notion that if this were any other president, the stink being made would not be as stenchy.
-
And like everyone knows exactly why those security measures were taken. Could there have been evidence of something happening beyond normal? We will never know, but if it were John Kerry, this story would not even be news.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 04:15 AM) Note to self: Bookmark thread Maybe I should write a "how to interview" book. God knows I've been through enough of them, on both sides of the table, lately.
-
I think your weaknesses answer should be tailored toward looking ahead. Meaning, if you are interviewing for your first job, say that you know that you need to learn the ins and outs of business to become successful. If you are a middle manager, say something like, you need to learn the ability to think more like an executive so that you are presenting the things they need to run a successful business, etc. If you are a clerk, you say that you want to pay attention to detail to ensure accuracy of what's entered. You get the idea. Another slant is you have had time to evaluate how the interview is going at that point when they ask those types of questions. You can take answers that you have learned during the interview and use that to your advantage as well. That tells me that someone is very good at adapting to a situation. Take the interviewer's own thoughts and words and get into a conversation about it. In that light, you're not "interviewing", you're having a conversation about an opportunity. Hopefully that makes sense.
-
Interview advice, both from an interviewee and an interviewer. BE YOURSELF. By the way, it's ok to pause, it's ok to think about your answer before rattling it off. As the guy sitting across the table from you I would rather you took a second to gather your thoughts and tell me what you really think then spouting off some BS answer. That tells me that you are a person that will think about what they say rather then have a foot up your mouth when you're talking. You don't have to have an answer to every question. If you don't know, you don't know, and the job might not be the job you thought it was. I've walked away from plenty of interviews on my own because it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. It's a tough market, but you have to pick yourself back up, chalk it up to experience, and be ready next time.
-
But you all can keep it from happening again. If that's any silver lining in any of this, that's it.

Snake In Toilet LMAO. Good thing he didn't have to #2. My favorite: calling his boss to tell him that he was fishing a snake out of the toilet, the boss said bring the snake in, so he did.

Wow. Remember that when you have a house full of flies this summer.

The "American Church" is disgusting. Pathetic. Moronic. Misses the whole point. "Religion" and "Church" is so bastardized. That's one of the best things about where I go to worship. The preacher stand up there and says I messed up BAD, but this is the one place where you should be able to come and be who you are with NO criticism whatsoever. And he's the first preacher who I can honestly tell that he means it. He holds up the bible and says we need to live that life and screw what the "churches" think. Pretty innovative for today's "church". Coincidentially, it's in one of the most affluent areas in the United States. I think that way too often, we totally miss the boat because of our silver spoons in the United States. Would we have the beliefs we do if our lives were on the line like first Century Christians? Probably not. Interesting topic, as long as it holds ... good call, Soxy.

Now that W has won the second term, I wouldn't be surprised to see gas at $4 a gallon. He profits from it, well he will in 4 years...
