Well, folks, I just got off the phone with an NHLPA agent. 50% chance of a season THIS - yes, THIS!!! year based on the information that is being provided through the back channels to the NHLPA. There's a lot behind the scenes, and I'll be honest, I'm SHOCKED at what's going on. That's all I can say without going into too much detail. But damn it's good news for those who want hockey.

Right. Then, have the company pay for the master's degree. Not a bad way to do it. I actually am probably going to get an MBA in management in addition to my master's in accounting. I think it will benefit me down the road.

People with master's degrees face a really tough environment. You want to get paid for your investment and most places don't want to do that. They want the masters but they have come to just expect it and not pay people for it. I can definitely relate to that.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) I think there are plans for a new chatroom for Soxtalk. Details should be available as we get closer to the season. There is indeed... it will be installed at the end of March, just in time for Opening Day. Stay tuned for details!

Because I just saw this thread? I'll post 'em tonight.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Well, as my mom taught me, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all! Seriously though, good luck and make that company better! We had some pretty interesting discussions about that kind of thing in the interview process. Each region has its difficulties. The Dallas region is actually one of their better ones. I could see me end up in someplace like Chicago, God Forbid... as a director level person. Now that would be just my luck. :banghead

All you people better talk really nice about Comcast. Thanks for the comments. Enough of you know the situation that I had to post it. So I get three weeks (or maybe 4) to "transition". Yippee!

FINALLY I got a new job opportunity today. It's sure a relief. Now comes the resignation from my current company, which is sure to be ugly.

I haven't even seen one down here.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 04:12 AM) I wasn't sure of whom you we're speaking of. I just assumed you meant me. Naaah. That was just the line that popped into my head at the time. Delusional, I'll tell you.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 10, 2005 -> 01:00 AM) Why was my Congrats Mr. Zero thread deleted? Ridiculous. Huh? It's still there, isn't it?

Critic's new version of soxtalk.com, based on a news story about a 26 year old scalping a teenager:

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) I'm majoring in accounting like Jason but I'm also doing Finance as well, so hopefully that will give me some options when I graduate. I just only hope, that getting a degree down here doesn't hold me back from taking a job up there, with all the different accounting standards etc. And then of course I've only wanted to work in sports, but unless I'm extremely lucky, I doubt that's going to happen. There's a lot you can do, DBAHO. And you don't have to have an accounting degree to be an operations or budget analyst. In fact, I find the better business analysts are not accountants. For some reason, accountants see a very small range of what is really going on with a business.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 9, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) Are you in finance or accounting? I know kap's accounting, but I was thinking you were either finance or econ. Actually I wouldn't say accounting, exactly. Financial Analysis/Budgeting dude/IT/janitor/assclown at the current job. And I probably have another job lined up... HELL YEA! This was a job I interviewed for three months ago and didn't get it. They said they would call back if they got any other openings, and they did, and the location is actually closer to home then the job would have been if I had gotten it back in November. And I'll get about a 12% raise - so considering the 4% I just got, I will be bringing home 15-16% more this year. Boooya. (assuming I actually get the offer this time).

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 8, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) You got a snappy little comeback for everything, don't you. How do you think he got to be (instead of king of pop) king of posts around here?

Probably hack your balls off. Any more questions, smart guy? :finger
