cubssuck, how much did cw pay you to make that post? Seriously, I think Clinton did some good things. One of the best things he did was welfare reform IMO. That was all Clinton. I think Clinton's great attribute was to know when to ride the wave, and when to jump off. A good example was the whole HillaryCare. He let it ride and totally dissed it once he knew that America was not quite ready for socialistic healthcare. That system has its advatages, but its disadvantages. He deserves some credit on spending, but not all. Remember, the House sets the spending, and the budgets were not balanced until a Republican Congress took hold. Having said that, Clinton was a better person at working the Congressional vote then Bush has been, that's for damn sure. The single biggest "problem" with Clinton was his constant policy forming on public opinion. But then again, that's not all bad, because at that point, you're doing what the majority of the country wants, but it can lead to some terrible pitfalls, like making tough decisions when the time is needed that is contrary to popular opinion. That's about as nice as I can be for now. I can shred apart Clinton with arguments, as I can Bush now. They both have their positive attributes.

We're getting a soaking here in Dallas, we've gotten 10 inches of rain, even more in some locals, since Sunday. Everything's flooding. Pretty cool considering we had no rain in May. At least the lakes are gonna be full for the 4th of July weekend...

It is CRUCIAL that the judges that are appointed IMO be strictly "constitutionalist" in nature, meaning that they interpret through the eyes of the constitution only. Everything must hold to that standard. Too often, now, we are dealing with things that makes the judges effectively re-write the laws by their interpretation. That's what folks mean by "activist judges" and that sets a dangerous precedence because as you duly note, it changes the balance of powers. To directly answer your question, you don't protect the public any other way, you have to do it within the framework set forth in the Constitution. It's vital that interpretations do not slant toward personal or political bias. Easier said then done nowadays with the issues at hand.

There are always alternatives, Tex. And what most GOP folks get upset is the above post that Chaos pulled out. Most uneducated people get their news from the big 4. And that "most" is definitely enough to sway the opinions of others. There is ALWAYS another side to a story, and most of the time, the big 4 only reports the negatives. Without negativity, folks on the left wouldn't have much to shoot at these days, IMO. The worse the news, the worse people feel, the better the electoral changes of Mr. Kerry. Let's face it, if the news were by in large positive, and people felt good about what was going on, the election would be a landside. THAT's why the news gets reported the way it does, it feeds their livelyhoods... negativity... it's a shame, but it holds some truth.

I was going to comment about Texas and you beat me to it. Of course being here, I've seen a lot of press for them. They seem to have a very solid club with the right mix of pitching, timely hitting, etc. to make it to the CWS. They, however, are not unbeatable. They had to bounce back late in their last game IIRC.

No way. They know what they are doing. Whatever is the headline of the day, is more about making money off of it then anything else. I don't think often times it's meant to be political, it's more about ratings and advertising royalties because they broke the news first.
