The thing is, seriously, you have to go with what you have. And, this really furthers the point that Koch should set up and Shingo should be given a chance at the closer role.

One inning if the past is any indication.

Arow K's. Crede Up. Oh wait, that's been posted 18 times now. Seriously, thanks for the updates for us at work people.

There sure has been a hell of a lot of drama around SLAP lately.
-
Truthfully, I think it's a CYA by our government in case something happens. IF---IF something happens, they can say, seeeee, we warned you. All this stems from the 9-11 commission and the report of failures of communication. If nothing happens, Bush can say, our warnings heeded off an attack. It was purely political.

If it gets to a game 7, I really like Tampa. Actually, I see the tit for tat (11 in a row for Tampa) being broken tomorrow and the home team winning out.
-
But let me throw you this curveball... WHO OFFERED THESE CONTRACTS?? The owners want a salary cap, to protect them from themselves. If you think about it, it's sort of like an auction with no auctioneer. These guys are not smart enough (because of purely ego) to pick up the damn phone and talk about $$ that the agents are bald ass lying about in front of their face when they are talking contracts. The players are demanding the marketplace should dictate, yet, the owners are the ones who have artificially made the market values rise too high. I think there's plenty of blame to go around.
-
Bingo. It's a hell of a lot of money, deferred or not. Shut the hell up already.
-
Hence, why the NHL has a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE problem on it's hands re: the lockout. They have no credibility in the marketplace, and to listen to the players talk about "the marketplace should determine their value" they just about ought to ask for a salary cap, at least they would make something... the way that it is heading is that there will be NO money to even pay the players and teams folding. The players are playing a dangerous, dangerous game IMO because the "marketplace" is in decline, and these numbers and a lack of a real tv contract seals it even more.

It's a good point. I think that they would have to get a damn decent arm and another proven (albiet not all-star) outfielder with a bit of pop from the left side to get rid of Maggs. Again, I like him, it just bugs me when the money's there that they've been asking for and they say no way. I know how business works, and using the media is how you get things done to soften the blows often times. Politics in sports SUCK.

Today, I agree with that. Before the last couple of years, I wouldn't. It's more important to stay on the ice then sit in the penalty box, eh?
-
Oh hell no. Iginla has had that in his game for a while. One of the better fights all of last season was Billy Guerin and Jerome Iginla, Center Ice, downtown Dallas, for the main event. That was a kick ass fight last year (02-03). He's got a lot of piss and vinegar in his game. Always has. Now, he's becoming more of a scorer, and now that bad-boy Simon is there on his line (at times), he doesn't have to throw down as much. Not that Oliwa is/was a sissy, but Simon is a known goon.

I'm with Anthony on this one. "Testing the market no matter what" is called I'm going to go to the highest bidder, PERIOD. And we all know that it's not going to be the Sox, so let's not kid ourselves. Howdy, Payrod, er, I mean Maggs. A comp pick comparted to getting some value for him now is a lot better option, IMO. To discredit him or not is not really the point here.
-
Everybody wave to Magglio when you see him next. As in bu-bye. Look, at this point, IF, and I say IF (you know, media misinformation and all) he rejected what the original offer he said he would take, he can :fyou and not let the door hit him in the ass. I like Maggs and all, but I hate it when athletes start this s***. So, they might as well trade him NOW while they can get something for him... $14 million can get you an ACE pitcher in this market...
-
Jeckle, you take all the popular stances around here, don't you?
-
I disagree. Before the trade deadline, I would have agreed with you, at least to an extent, about that side of the game not being Calgary's. One of the things they knew they needed to do was get tougher for the playoffs. Chris Simon has absolutely rocked this playoff year, and Andrew Ference has stepped up his physical game. I won't even get into Oliwa. They have a lot more brawn then folks give them credit for, and the physical play has allowed them to knock around the "scoring teams" of Vancouver, Detroit, and San Jose.

Also, Vinny/Iginla was WHY Tampa lost that game. Think about it. Vinny was about as effective as an ant the rest of the game after the fight. That's Jerome's game, not Vinny's. And Vinny played right into it, and into Calgary's hands, which is exactly why Tampa lost game 3 - they got away from their game and sucked into Calgary's game.

The funniest part of game 2 (the aforementioned Roy taking someone's head off game) was at the end when he was on the ice for police duty, the linesmen skated to him when the clock had reached :00. Andre, trying like hell to get around the linesman, reaches around and undoes his tie down... he was ready to whoop someone's ass but good. I was cracking up, and saying to myself, YEP, that's the Andre we all know and love. Seriously, though, Andre will NOT go after Niemenen. In fact, Andre won't go after anyone. Torterella has done a great job letting Andre be Andre in this series, and Andre will get his licks in fair and square by checking someone into oblivion LEGALLY. Niemenen used terrible judgement in a crutial time in the game in game 4. Period. Two minute, five minute penalty, it doesn't matter, that was plain freakin' stupid. Nothing else needs to be said. Since it was called 5, there will be no retribution.

LMAO. You really are going to hell, aren't you?
