  1. That's just awesome. Lightning does strike twice!
  2. Absolutely what Bush did 30 years ago matters. I guess the difference is - we have a president who has (depending on your take) proven or not proven his worth. It's a known vs. an unknown issue. All this crap was hashed out 4 years ago with GW, and now, we go through it again. Bush did some "dodging" or whatever you want to call it (as I said, many others did too) but you don't hear about GW standing up and politicizing against it back then. This issue sucks. 30 years ago really shouldn't matter in terms of what you chose to do in every day life, but Kerry used this for political gain back then, so IMO it takes an issue that shouldn't matter and forces it to the forefront because HE CHOSE to politicize it then and now politics is all that matters when selecting a president. Hopefully that makes sense.
  3. wow, that's harsh. "crybaby award" goes to .... SS2K4!
  4. I don't disagree with that, Tex. I change my mind all the time based on learning more about the subjects at hand. However, what I have a problem with is this guy made it a point to redicule soldiers in the field of battle. Yes, that was 30 years ago. And his platform NOW is to (basically) get us out of Iraq. So, here we have a guy who has in the past rediculed our soldiers (I DO NOT discount the fact that he was one too) but where the distinction lies is none of this matters until you step up to the plate to want to be president of the United States. THEN it has all sorts of implications. I didn't give a rats ass what John Kerry did 30 years ago UNTIL HE WANTED TO BE PRESIDENT. It didn't matter, now it does.
  5. The SERVICE doesn't, but for someone to come back and redicule the soldiers in the theatre of battle and then 30 years later want to be commander-in-chief makes me just a little suspicious. Thousands of Americans "dodged" Vietnam. But not all stood there and ripped the guys that were over there. That's where the real issue is IMO. You did it then, how can you respect today's soldier then?
  6. This might not be the place to bring this up so, /hijack but anyway, I'll tell you what gripes my ass about this whole "troop mistreatment" thing and maybe this has already been said here, I don't know. Why is it that there is more of an outcry about mistreatment of Iraqis, etc. then there is about our contractors being drug through the streets and burned and hanged in public? There's a ton more outrage about the mistreatment of prisoners then "ordinary" Americans. Don't get me wrong. I am not condoning what those bastards did over there, I think it's sick, wrong, and extremely distasteful. But where is the outcry for OUR people? The US military should be held to a higher standard, I agree... but again, why can't there be this kind of outcry when the insurgents do this kind of crap? Instead, it's used to say OMG we need to GET OUT!!! One other note. I wish I had a transcript of this. I happened to turn on the radio to the local station that does traffic on the way home because I was stuck in traffic. They had a contractor on from Iraq and he had many many many many things to say that COMPLETLY contradicts what our messed up media says... he said that from being over there, more, WAY more people want us there then not, but they want us there in a support role and not in charge. They DO NOT want the UN in there, they think that they will totally screw it up. They respect us, but the biggest concern to the everyday folk is they want to have the ability to roam as they want to and not be told to stay home at night, for example. This is a completely different picture then what our media paints as to what is going on over there. This STRAIGHT from a guy that IS over there now working... I take a lot more from a first hand account then our media bias. /resume
  7. But I'm in the "us" folk.
  8. No one really, but it's for us "people who want to make a big deal out of nothing" thread. Oh wait, that's pretty much this whole SL(A)P forum.
  9. And it's $1.73 here after the spike up. Yet another fine point about the state of Texas.
  10. If he just would have took out the bastard back in '91 we wouldn't be in this mess would we?
  11. Isn't it amazing? It's been fun between watching the Rangers and the Sox on tv - I hope that they both can keep it going. I really would like to come up in September/early October time frame, but with the house and all that I'm not sure where finances will be at that point. So, we'll see.
  12. Somehow, don't you just feel better after clicking on the little fyou guy 100 times?
  13. "Good" being relative because I haven't had it. So when are ya gonna give me tickets so I can try it? Seriously, most places that I have been to with that kind of setup has been a very good value for the $$ taking into consideration what it costs in the stadiums/arenas in general. The Rangers Gold Club is pretty good, and not that bad for the price. Same thing with the Stars/Mavs at the Airline Centre here. It's all relative.

    Best TV Moms

I saw this on the morning news this morning, and I forget the source, but there was a poll of the best tv moms. 1) Claire Huxtable of Cosby fame. 2) Marion Cunningham of Happy Days. 3) Marge Simpson! Any other tv moms out there? And no, it's not a porn thread.
  15. Heck, you can spend $30 per person on JUNK food at the ballpark and not even bat an eye, so that's pretty good for "good" food.
  16. We need to take a screen capture as soon as the great southsider "breaks" the record. And be sure to put an * right beside it, since southsider had 2 more forums to post in then the great chisoxfn. But then what about all the people that were unfairly banned in the early days of soxtalk.com? Shouldn't they have a footnote in the archives of history?
  17. I hate to say it but Ruutu is as good as gone if you don't take care of that ownership problem first.
  18. It's 85 and brilliantly sunny, the Sox and Rangers are in first, the foundation of our new house is about a week or two away... life's been good to me so faaaar....
  19. Exactly! That's what bugged me. If the dude gets hit, ok, it happens. But to walk the bases loaded and give up 2 unearned runs and almost a 3rd based solely on walking the bases loaded is :puke
  20. To expand a little, Detroit whines like there is no tomorrow when things don't go their way, because they DO pay out the money to get the best. Paying to get the best is ok, but whining about it when things don't go right isn't. I like Brett Hull, I think he's one of the best pure shooters to ever play the game (beauuutiful one-timer extraordinaire) but he sure does piss and whine and moan when things aren't quite up to his standards. Waaaah, he hooked me ref! Waaaaah, why did you call me for that?! That's the part of Red Wing allure that gives them a reputation of not being liked.
  21. Being a hockey fan for lots and lots of years, I always admire Detroit for their "go-get em" attitude when it comes to assembling a team to win. They truely are the "Yankees" of hockey, and that's why they are hated so. Stevie Y. He's the TRUE definition of determination. I admire him more then 95% of the players out there today and I agree, hopefully we see him play on the ice again. But let's face it. Calgary played their ass off, and are to be commended. I actually am pulling for them over any team that's left simply because if they win, THEY prove the small market can still work in the NHL.
  22. You're right. But this living on the edge every time out is getting old. I'd prefer "routine" every once in a while and then maybe I wouldn't feel this way.
  23. OK, so leave him out there, knowing that every time he's out there, thinking, is THIS the one he's gonna blow? Please. I'll take the committee over this BS anyday. At least they all get a chance to prove themselves. Kock got the job done because Uribe saved his ass. Nothing more, nothing less. So Uribe got it done FOR him.
