  1. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) If that's the return, Q won't be traded. To the Red Sox, anyway, which is a okay by me.
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) Is Bradley an upgrade over Eaton? Defensively, without question. Offensively, he's much worse based on his major league numbers. If you look at his minor league numbers, it's hard to say because they are inconsistent - but the projection off of his minor league numbers would probably be comparable to Eaton's 2014.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Via trade bud Only if packaged with a pitcher and in lieu of talent returned, which I hope doesn't happen.
  4. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 07:42 AM) . I still say Q for Swihart and Bradley Jr + 1 arm. White Sox may also need to include a bullpen piece. That is Q for one real prospect. (Bradley is a non prospect at this point) No.
  5. Honestly I didn't understand the article. Nightengale juxtaposed KW quotes within his own writing and it's hard to tell what who's saying what and what either is saying. Probably not much.
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) ok, i need a little help here. when he was talking about july 31 and the no - other will be traded. so it is only stating 1 player and no one else will be traded??? yea, that's kind of how it read, but I don't think it means anything. Kind of a confusing article, with a lot of KW executive VP-speak.
  7. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2...liams/29738873/ It certainly doesn't sound like Shark has any intention of not pursuing free agency or favoring the Sox in that process. From the Link above>" White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams told USA TODAY Sports. "But then you look at us, and you say, wait a minute, this team will only be held down for so long." I look at the team as currently constructed and think, yea it will be.
  8. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) If he forces the issue, I expect you're right. But it's not a given that he'll be ready. Rodon certainly didn't force the issue....he was having command problems in Charlotte The Sox front office forced the issue. He's not learning the 3rd pitch in Chicago...Ventura and Cooper are using him to get the next out. What he's learning is how to be better than Noesi. And wasting service time in the process (and I realize he'd still get hit for a year anyway unless they sit him until this time next year) I'm not sure he wouldn't get better coaching from Dotsun anyway.
  9. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 03:28 PM) Why did they leave Webb in? How we win 4 games in a row is beyond me Because that's what Robin does. He only finesses the bullpen late in the game when we're ahead or down 1 or so.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) If Melky was hustling right out of the box that would have been an easy triple. That's encouraging. He'd have made it if he bothered to hustle.
  11. Is this the 3B coach or the player who is putting on this basepath clown show?
  12. Rodon should be in the minors.
  13. Thought they might give the Shuck a start today.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Montas looking good so far through 5 innings. Anyone know anything about Delmonico? Dude is kicking some butt so far. He's 2/3 with his 6th double in his short stint for Birmingham and batting .423. Traded by Orioles to Brewers for K Rod. Suspended for PEDs, went AWOL from Brewers, Brewers released him and Sox signed him. Apparently not a good defender but able with the bat (can he play OF?). Haven't seen a scouting report on him since he has been on the Sox.
  15. They need to take offers now. If it's there, take it. don't know what the market will look like in a month. We know today there are buyers.
  16. QUOTE (LDF @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) while the northsiders signed 47, what was the total cost at the end of the day?? they are going to have 1 hell of a system in the coming yrs. yo.... sox owners, this is how to rebuild the farm system. I wonder if the fact that the Sox have fewer minor league teams than a lot of orgs factors into it. Cubs have 1 more and the Astros have 2 more.
  17. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 04:11 PM) Penny with a CG and 0 strikeouts. Weird. That is what I would call a great AAAA performance.
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) He's been nasty most of the time, unfortunately he's given up a few untimely bombs. He's like Dotel.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:50 PM) One game you leave in Shark too long. Boom, bye 4-0 lead. Next time you bring in a reliever ... boom, tie game. Can't win for losing. Some folks on this board over-valued Putnam and Petricka that is for sure. They are just bodies. Sometimes they are OK; most of the time their pitches scream "hit me." They just brought the wrong guy in. Putman gives up HRs but he gets Ks too...use him in a real jam - runner on 3rd less than 2 outs. They also waste a spot with Carroll instead of trying some guys from AAA and see if they can become a real contributor. I wanted Ventura to pull Shark after the 7th.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) Why was that not Robertson? Putnam has given up too many homers Good question. But we know the answer - it wasn't the 9th.
  21. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) Haha this bullpen still remains a joke. With the exception of 2 maybe 3 pitchers it is an utter joke. Even with how bad this bullpen is, the offense is even worse. Sox should still be up 3-4 right now. RV made the right call at the tight time he just does not have the player personnel to make the right moves all the time. Personally I would have gone with the 4 out save opportunity ( that would probably have back fired as well though). It's not a bad pen. They need to use it more, really. Sox have put a ton of miles on these starters. The problem is 10 hits and only 2 runs.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 09:27 AM) But from Pitts point of view they are likely looking to trade from their outfield depth which is rather deep considering they just sent Tabata and his contract to AAA. Reese is a heck of a prospect but he's a catcher at A+ and only 20 years old so he's likely quite a ways off from being MLB ready which does not really help the Sox much. Diaz could step into the majors right now as a good defensive oriented backup with a cannon for an arm and still just 24 years old so there is still a chance he could become an every day catcher in time. If Pitt needs a second player the Sox could offer a reliever in the deal since thats one area the Sox have an excess of. As far as 3B Pitt does not have anything to offer that could help the Sox in the short term. They have Wyatt Mathisen but he doesn't grade out any better than what the Sox have in Delmonico. I actually prefer Delmonico over Mathisen. So as far as trading with Pitt goes its about outfielders and catchers. I'll take an outfielder who can hit and play D and a good catching prospect. I'll take 2 such OFs instead. That's fine. They aren't in a position to use this to plug a hole, if it means passing on superior talent.
  23. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) Hanley Ramirez, Josh Reddick and Jose Iglesias were pretty good ones they traded for pitching. Hopefully somone in White Sox system has seen their AAA up close and can see who is ML ready. I fear Bradley will be an untouchable by September so it may be too late if Q is involved in a Boston deal. Swihart DL is probably to hold him for 2 weeks till they see what direction they are going with 4 catchers. He will head back to AAA unless they trade a catcher.Rizzo, too. But that was then. They were playing for a WS when they let Iglesias go (and they didn't think he'd hit). They just sent Bradley down after for the 2nd time this season after yet another failed effort. Hit AAA, fail in majors, is not unusual. His value is pretty low. Swihart is supposed to be very good defensively - but his AAA hitting stats were not overly compelling; and neither are his Major League stats - very well get a guy who hits like Flowers but can play D. Then you have the 2 Cubans. That's it for top position prospects. I don't see them as a match for Q who nets, if not an elite prospect (which I doubt we'd get), several really good ones. Astros and other teams have more interesting ones, imo. I think we need young hitters, regardless of position. And when teams like the Cubs and Astros are starting marginal 5th guys like Richard and Straily, we might get a lot more than I would expect.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 4, 2015 -> 10:58 AM) http://sportsmockery.com/2015/07/a-yasiel-...nd-the-dodgers/ While I wouldn't be opposed to us grabbing Puig, the proposed deal is very ridiculous of Shark, Q and prospects. Now if they wanted to just get rid of him and take half a season of Shark? I think i'd do it. No
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 3, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) He'd be the second most valuable position player on the Sox, I'll take him. On potential, yes. But on actual performance....as Dick said, he'd fit right in on the southside.
