  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I benched Carl again. Me too, santo. I need a hug...
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 10:42 PM) And the bullpen is waaaay better than what he started, and ended, the season with. I can't tell you how many games that pen will give us as compared to the last few years. I'll tell ya, it's real nice to have guys like Diaz and Adkins and Walker and Baj down at AAA. Most years, two out of three of those above guys would actually be on the team, which isn't what a championship calibur club should have. I really think Baj can help us next year, but he'll be a real big key to this club if one of our relievers goes down...
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Ozzie's doing this so everyone stays in their normal spot in the batting order so they dont get jerked around the lineup and moved all over the place. I'm sorry, Rowand, that's a dumb reason. A guy with a .384 career SLG% has no business hitting fifth, in front of a guy like Rowand -- hell, he should be hitting last, right behind Uribe -- he's an awesome bunter, and Ozzie supposedly like Uribe for his speed, they could've done some hit-and-runs down there. Ugh... Prove me wrong, Timo.
  4. Are Deng and Curry the only *serious* injuries to the Bulls at this moment? And, I know Deng is out for the rest of the season, does that include playoffs?
  5. Timo hitting fifth?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! And 3E8, I realize those are some good Metradome splits, but he is not a fifth hitter. I'm sorry, that's pretty inexcusible...
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) big mistake. How did the guy go from leaving the park yesterday, to being ready today? Radke was probably gonna light him up anyway, Girland's chances just got worse. GMAFB. At least let him pitch poorly before you bash him... :rolly
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) That was one deal I was THRILLED we didn't make. The guy has Esteban Loiaza written all over him. I don't think the deal the Sox had for him would have been at seven million, though, but I agree with you -- I'm glad we got El Duque, at a pretty cheap price (four million, two years?), instead. I'm actually sort of proud that Kenny didn't get into a bidding war for some of the average pitchers that were getting huge contracts this winter. The only contracts that I can think of right now that seemed fair to me were the Odalis Perez one and the Hernandez one... In other news, Sandy Alomar has three RBI's and is 3-3 as Texas is beating Seattle, 3-1.
  8. I know I asked this in one of the other threads, but where the heck are Gonzalez and Lucy?
  9. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:04 AM) El Duque's will surprise everyone with just how good he is. Thats from a march 28th post of mine on the thread what has spring training showed you. If he's healthy, there's no doubt in my mind he's an awesome number three...
  10. Great outing, El Duque! We were getting worried in the chatroom, he really used a lot of pitches in those first five innings, but in the sixth and seventh, they got impatient, Orlando made some great pitches, and he only threw 104, which is right around his max. You keep him at 100 or right around there, and never too much over, and we should have a healthy #26 for most of the season...
  11. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:10 AM) what's with all this pre game crap? who gives a toss about these Minn. people. Play Ball. Geezus. Have some f'n respect. Bob Casey was one of the most recognizable voices in all of baseball, and while I certainly didn't enjoy it, it was part of coming to the Twinky-Dome that I'd remember. Calm down, the game will be on in a few minutes. But man, have some respect... :headshake
  12. QUOTE(Heartattack19 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) What radio channel are the sox on, im at work and on 100 they only have the friggen bulls! Whatever FM station The Zone is. 97. something...
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) We don't need him, at all JMO True, but shouldn't Jay be obligated to give us a good chance to sign him at a reasonable price...? He's gotta be better than Frank Williams, and isn't he on the roster?
  14. Hmm -- so Gio will start off at Kanny? What about Donny Lucy?
  15. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) Write half inning recaps or something. One liner posts are pretty pointless. It's getting old to come back to this thread b/c a new post has been added, and it's only 3 or 4 words long. I concur. Hey, he's got half the posts in this thread. I dunno if I've ever seen that here... Oh well.
  16. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) ANd I think Pujols will hit better than David Eckstein this year.. Yeah -- fine. Problem is, was Pujols traded for David Eckstien and Julian Tavares? No.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) Exactly. What does that mean anymore? Absolutely nothing. Hmm -- then why should Ozuna get the nod over Crede? Both have achieved a lot in the minors (Crede moreso), yet have done relatively nothing in the majors. And, I'm willing to have Crede over at third until a better opportunity arises. Shea Hillenbrand at the trade deadline, perhaps? We have a long way to go, but I won't be mad if Crede only hits .240 or so -- I'm expecting that, anything above that is just gravy...
  18. What I want to know is, where are all the Cub fans? They're known so much for loving their team, yet they just showed a picture of the park, and it's half empty? Game a little too long, I guess? Oh, and I forgot that they stop serving beer after awhile. Gotta get that Old Style at one of the local bars...
  19. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) PLease exlpain this statement.. you can't compare the 2.. True -- it's hard to compare a leadoff hitter and a middle of the order hitter, but I bet Lee has a higher OPS, OBP, AVG, RBI's, HR's, and X-tra Base hits than Pods. I don't know what's hard to understand about that, I just think Lee will do better than Pods...
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) Yep, and he swung at a garbage pitch. What a rally-killer. ...And I bet he still does better than Scotty Pods this year.
  21. Did anyone watching on TV notice Shingo's new pitch? Maybe I wasn't watching close enough last year -- but yesterday, he was throwing a pitch that I can best describe as a two-seam fastball, Bartolo Colon like. Meaning, it was tailing in to left-handers and at the last second, cutting back to the inside part of the plate. When he threw that pitch, it had some sick movement. Problem was (IMHO), he was throwing way, way too many fastballs. I was happy that he was smart enough to not walk anyone, but he was throwing absolute "meatballs", as Boz referred to them as... I only saw one or two frisbee's, and when he threw 'em, they were off the plate. He's gotta throw that frisbee for strikes, or he's in not gonna get the job done this year.
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Actually, the rumor was Paulie for Odalis Perez when Paulie couldn't hit at all in 2003. Thank God we didn't make that trade. I dunno, I might have made that trade at the time... I think Paully's poor performance on the road and Perez' overall ability to pitch (he'd probably put up worse numbers pitching here than in LA, but I still think it'd be a little lower than 4) -- especially considering the crap we had on the mound in the fifth starters' spot, it would have been a pretty equal trade. I'm wondering what PK would have done at Dodger stadium last year. Sometimes I think he adjusts his swing playing at the Cell, knowing if you can get it in the air, there's a good chance of it being gone. But he was pretty bad away from the Cell. Blah -- it's debatable, and I don't want to get into that (don't want to hijack the thread). It would be a good topic of debate, though.
  23. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) That's not entirely true. Money is also a factor. The Twins drafted Joe Mauer because Mark Prior wanted a huge signing bonus. Yeah, well, that's a given. Money is a factor in everything.
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 8, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Agreed. Plus we have Kenny "trade 'em all" Williams at the big league level. MLB draft picks are like buying lottery tickets. Just buy a lot of them and hope someone pans out. Yes, it's silly to think that they drafted Fields just because Crede sucked. I think Baseball America or Prospectus rated him as the best power hitter in the draft, and when you have a chance to grab him at #15 -- the best power potential in the draft -- you do it. I also agree with SS2k, Ozuna's a backup. I can't believe people are talking about putting him in there instead of Crede.
