  1. lol, it's funny. Patterson says he'd rather swing at a breaking ball in the dirt than have one go right down the middle without swinging. Well, Cory, put one and one together. If you swing at every breaking pitch in the dirt, you aren't going to get a cookie down the middle! Is that really that hard?
  2. I am so pumped for this game! It's going to be so damn exciting, and I see the away team winning the next three games, so Calgary will win in seven. Either way, it is going to be one hell of a series!
  3. Plus it kind of sucks - We get Oakland and Anahiem for eight each (IIRC), and Minny gets Tampa Bay and Baltimore.
  4. Yeah AirDale, it's all one huge conspiracy... :headshake And even Bruce Levine talked to Maggs - Get your facts straight. One last time, for the kids in the back of the room - No offer was made, no offer was rejected.
  5. Hey - buddy - Maggs just said that he never denied a contract offer, and that talks are still going on. Please, please - don't jump the gun so soon. You guys took it as gospel that because a couple of New York writers mentioned that Mags rejected 70Million/5Years, it was true. Well, I guess you shouldn't believe everything you read in the paper... :headshake
  6. No way, no way, no freakin' way. Cotts might have done poorly last night, but when Wunsch was up here, he couldn't get our lefties... He's a lefty specialist and he couldn't even get out the lefties! Cotts is way better, IMO, than Wunsch because: a.) He can eat a lot of innings out of the bullpen, he can go three or four innings. and b.) He can get out lefties as well as righties. Now, that didnt happen last night, nor the past two weeks or so, but earlier in the year Cotts bailed us out a ton of times. Neal's problem, as most of us can see, is that he gets caught leaving that damn changeup - up in the zone. Not good. His fastball really, really fools hitters, he ought to use that more, and only use his changeup down - and - away, and throw in his breaking ball down in the zone as well. That being said, the ump wasn't giving anything on the outside corner, actually, it was more like two inches onto the plate he wasn't giving... And he was extending the inside corner about four inches, so he had a wierd strike zone going...
  7. I'll believe it when I hear it from Mags agent that "Maggs won't be in a Pale Hose uni next season." THis is all speculation sourcing from a publication in New York who is trying to create some hope for either the Mets/Yanks to possibly sign him next offseason...
  8. lol, just what I was going to say. First, Jeremy Reed is overrated, now- ah screw it, he's getting more attention than he deserves. Yeah, Im glad the trade didn't happen!
  9. But he's overrated, so we should trade him. Right Jeckle?
  10. He's hitting over 280 with wrist problems. If this is Reed at his worst, then that's all the more reason to keep him - possible wrist injuries and still hitting at a 280 clip, imagine when he's 100 %... You think he's overrated by reading THESE boards? You sure about that buddy? I have honestly no clue what you are talking about...
  11. Livan Hernandez is very good, in fact, probably a number two. Last year he posted a 3.20 ERA in rougly 230 innings of work, 178 Ks. If we could get Armas Jr for Rauch, like someone said in another thread, I'd do it instantly.
  12. I really don't mind who wins, actually. I wanted to see a good game, and I saw a great one. I cannot express in words how excellent Khabibulan was, and that glove save at the end was just brilliant. Sorry if it seems like I'm rubbing it or anything like that, Spiff, I like both teams (Calgary because they beat Detroit, and because I like Iginla, and Tampa because I like the way they play). Ville Niemenen sure is an agitator, and a lot of times he plays pretty well, but man, what a stupid penalty. Sure, Lecavalier (sp?) (I think he was the one hit) might have dove a little bit, but Ville shouldn't have put it in the referee's hands. This series is so back and forth. Both teams are capable of winning on the road, and at home. I think it's going to go to seven. I hope it goes to seven, I might even tape it, fact being it might be the last of hockey we see in a year or so.
  13. Hmm, just curious, how are Burke and Danny Wright rated for you and how are they doing for you?
  14. That's what I was saying to. To say that about the Twins is pretty ludacris (sp?) IMO. First Jeremy Reed is overrated, and now the Twins suck? What's with you Jeckle?
  15. Yeah, I remember Stewart's first start - he actually wasn't terrible, too bad the unfortunate liner in, what was it, Cleveland or Baltimore? I remember Ed Farmer saying he was like a mini-Mark Buerhle, not going to blow anyone away, but hit his spots. I hope Stewart can one-day make it to the big-club and contribute, I always rooted for him (not saying everyone else didn't, he was just a certain guy I liked.)
  16. Haha! I love it! I love it! I actually laughed out loud at that, LOL! :fthecubs Except instead of Cubs, insert Royals. Well, just put an "and" there, then put Royals.
  17. Im trying to think of a song to go with "She's a Bad Mama-Jama", but I just can't do it. Help, anyone? This thread rocks!
  18. Good point, and I totally agree. Not the best of situation's for one's first two career major league starts. He threw strikes, it's just he got caught throwing one too many changes up in the zone. And the hitters hit that pitch out.
  19. It's awesome - I traded Carlos Lee to Toronto, and somehow got two AWESOME pitching prospects. Dustin McGowen, the 22 year righty old starter, has talent ratings of 8 in stuff, 10 in movement, and 6 in control. Jamie Vermilyea, the 23 year old righty reliever, has awesome talent ratings - 8 in stuff, 10 in control, 8 in movement. Not to mention Honel on the farm, plus MY big three of Buerhle - Mulder (Traded for Loaiza and Shingo)-Sheets (Traded for Crede and Diaz). I'm really excited about Borchard too, he's hitting 300+ for me and driving in some huge runs. What is your lineup looking like right now, Soxnbears. I remember you mentioning how you basically gave away your whole team for prospects, It'd be interesting to hear who you got right now. Same with you, red. Here's mine: C Olivo 1B Hatteberg (Oakland released Him, odd)/Konerko Platoon 2B Harris 3B Bellhorn SS Uribe LF Borchard CF Dave Roberts (He's hitting 370 for me, already mid-June) RF Mags Rotation of Buerhle-Mulder-Sheets-Schoenwies-Garland. Bullpen includes Marte, Karsay (released by the Yanks), Cotts, Wunsch, Jackson, and closer of Danny Graves, who went from three stars when I traded for him to four stars, and currently leads the league in saves! I'm pushing for the playoffs! The only negative is that Reed broke his hand and is out 9 weeks...
  20. Overrated? Jeckle - have you ever seen him play? I don't know what in the hell you are reading... What's not to like about him? Great eye at the plate, great contact hitter, very good speed, maybe not a Gold-Glove outfielder but he sure isn't a liability? Damn. Overrated? I think you're going a bit too far in saying that, especially if you haven't even seen him play...
  21. Ville Niemenen took the penalty - a former Hawk screws up royally. Wow - Khabibulan makes a HUGE glove save shorthanded, he was screened, the puck was going in. Damn, what a save....
  22. Wow - Calgary takes one s***ty penalty, four minutes left in the game, and one of the Calgary players takes a five minute boarding misconduct, and Tampa Bay is up 1-0. Talk about action, end to end, just an awesome game. Less than 2 left in the game.
  23. Yeah - that kind of sucks. No way he's going to get all of the write-ins needed to make a start on the AL team... That's kind of stupid, IMO. Why send out all of the All-Star ballots and not have a guy who's hitting awesome right now....
  24. Well, myself along with Jim aren't very fond of Rector, he's a troll, looking to take the side of anything that will cause an argument. Case-in-point, over at BHZ (Blackhawk fan site), about a year ago, he was pleading for Brian Sutter to be fired. Well, the end of the year came, and most of the people at BHZ we're basically calling for Sutter's head. Well, like clockwork, Rector jumped on and said Sutter should be kept (so he switched his mind after another poor season?). So it seems he only does stuff to piss people off. Not to mention how he was a jerk to Molto. And now, even after Buerhle's dominating performances, he says the reason that Buerhle has been dominating is because and ONLY because of the massive run support he's recieving. He also called Ozzie Guillen a dufus (sp?) or something in an article he wrote (which he was later let go from, the website).
  25. Hmm - is Pedroia the only middle infield prospect who would be worth taking at that time? I was hoping that we could load up on pitching and middle infield in this draft...
