Very good game today. I was especially impressed with: -Our team defense, from various plays - Olivo's gun throwing out Matsui, our Valentin's range, Harris' ability to start and turn the double play, and I really liked seeing them talk out there; i.e. on the one play that was a tapper towards Paul Konerko, it was just out of the reach of Garland, Paully told him he'd get it, Jon hustled/sprinted right towards first and covered. -Jon Garland's ability to get out of jams. -Willie Harris did a solid job at the plate. He had some very good at bats, and was smart on the base paths. -It was nice to see Jose Valentin get on track. Couple of walks, a hit, two runs scored, plus his solid defense. -Magglio with some huge hits when he had RISP. The three run shot and the single to center. -Konerko is hitting the ball hard right now - even if he is making some outs, he's hitting the ball real hard. Same goes for Lee, though I want Lee to be a little more patient, and to see him in the 2 hole. -Good to see Crede go yard. -Timo Perez, wow, very impressive game from him. Couple of hits, a walk, couple of runs scored. -Olivo solid D and you can clearly see he is more comfortable at the plate. There's more - but I was really impressed by our boys in black today. Go get 'em tommorow, Buerhle-mon!

The Sox are going up against Jorge De Paula before. My question is, have the Sox, or the majority of Sox players, faced De Paula yet? What worries me is that we don't fair very well against guys who we haven't seen before, who knows, maybe Ozzie changes that. But I don't even know if the Sox have faced him before, so maybe it's a mute concern. Can someone help me out?

This trade actually makes a ton of sense - in fact, it probably would have went down had Wunsch not been injured. Jerry Reinsdorf, today on the score, said that there was a trade that was supposed to happen right at the end of Spring Training, when a player who was involved in the deal was injured. Damn - if only KW had thought of that trade a week or two earlier. BTW, did anyone else hear the interview with Jerry Reinsdorf on 670 with North and J-Hood?

I think we really, really need to resign Mags, I know this is coming out of nowhere, but he's just so damn consistent and good. I think this year will be the best we've seen from Mags in his career - he's playing for a contract, and he's going to just be great. I don't care how many prospects we have in the system, Mags is a franchise player who should be really markted more by the Sox. Though I was wanting the trade when I first heard about it, I'm glad Mags is still in a Sox (White, that is) uni - I really don't think Nomar can put up the numbers Mags does, even with the wrist injury.

He's probably nervous as hell - first big league appearance, in New York of all places, going up first against a player from his former country, Matsui - he seems to like the bottom inside corner vs. lefties. Jeter didn't seem to know where the pitches were going, who knows, maybe Shingo will only be able to get out righties. Give him another shot next time were up 6+ runs. I would.

Wow - Garland bailed out by some good D. We need to take advantage of this!
-
Wow, what a peg by Olivo!

Come ON guys! That was a terrible inning. I have a feeling we aren't going to score many runs. Shutout Contreras, Shutout, SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT, SHUTOUT! Come on, jinx!

Jon Garland tells Sheff to grab some pine! LETS GET SOME RUNS!~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Jose sure is earning that five million dollars, ain't he?
-
Frank is struckout, looking.... :headshake
-
Valentin Strikes out AGAIN!
-
Willie swings at the first pitch and grounds out.
-
Rowand maybe doesn't make the play, but I see no reason why Sheff scores on that play. I don't know though, maybe Sheff got a good look at it and knew it was gonna fall.
-
Good point - I'm just realizing now that he's making about seven and a half million a year.
-
Luis Castillo would have been a real nice pickup.... :headshake

I'm sorry, but a game where your fourth starter gives up three runs, regardless if he was hit hard or not, he only gave up three runs - we need to win that type of game. I'll take three runs in six innings from Shoe ANY day of the week.

Colon's two-seamer is unbelievable - it looks like its going to be way inside off the plate, and then it just cuts right back onto the plate - I loved that pitch, and I wish it was still being thrown by a guy in a Sox uni.

Bulls getting embarrassed.......again

What do you guys think of this trade possibility? Im not much into basketball, but: Crawford and Curry/Chandler (not both) for Iverson. Take Okafor with the first pick. I dont know if you guys like/dislike AI, but he can score. I also dont know if Philly would do this deal, but they seem pretty anxious to rid themselves of AI (I dont know why...) Thoughts? -
So true - Thomas is much better at the plate than Sammy. Sammy: "The ball was corked!"
-
For those of you who didnt see: Sammy was up in the count 2-0. Wagner throws a high fastball that Sammy misses for strike one. Next pitch, Wagner throws a slider that falls away off the outside of the plate into the dirt, Sammy flails horribly at it, 2-2. Then, Wagner throws the same exact pitch, Sammy flails again and strikes out. It was pathetic and awesome to watch. :fthecubs

If D-Rays pitching can keep the Yanks off - balance, please, PLEASE let Shoe keep them off balance! LETS GO SOX! LETS GO SOX!
-
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!! Way to give us all heart troubles before getting the save, BIlly Boy! I dont care, a win is a win. We outplayed the Royals for 17 and a half innings this series. Lets go get some in NY now, boys!!!!

Crede really needs to hit next year - I expect him to be solid, and if he doesn't do well this year I'll be pretty pissed. I like his stroke - but he's gotta hit.
