  1. QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 12:55 AM) I agree people are high on something if they act as if Pods is the answer beyond this year, but I do agree with the fact Pods may not be a bad option to hold down our leadoff spot/CF for the short term with what we have waiting in the minors. If Jordan Danks was hitting well in AA, or say hit well enough to get promoted to AAA (ala Gartrell/Flowers) than yes, I would agree, but he's still striking out alot, and he's been in a slump. Either he has to pick it up this year to finish strong, or he might need an extra year beyond 2010 to make it/still view him highly.
  2. One fluke season from Pods and people are wetting their tampons? Jesus. Where's my boy hammerhead johnson.

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 12:22 AM) Streve, while I have minimal time posting, I have been reading Soxtalk for 2 years, and I have learned that you are an expert drunk poster. Having said that, I have no idea what that means, but I would love to learn your ways You must not be reading too well then. He's not even close.
  4. Congrats to both Hudson and Gartrell. Both are well deserved. A mod should change the title.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) So am I. If it were up to the other half, most of the 2005 team would still be here, and this would be a 75 win club. Counting on Pods for anything next season would be a mistake. His career has been a huge roller coaster, and if Williams plans on fielding a championship contendor next season, trusting Pods to anchor the lead off spot for the entire 2010 seaon is not a bet I would want to make. When Chone gets brought up, critics seem to jump on his age, and given his presumable contract demands, you will have to lock him up until he is 34-35 years old. I agree that would be a bad investment. With that said, Podsednik will enter the season as 34 year old below average OF with a history of having nagging lower body injuries. Again, not someone I want my team to count on in getting the most AB's over the course of a season. Preach. 100% agreed.

    i am drunk in 2009

Last Friday and Saturday I was too drunk to post in here cause of my buddy turning 21. This Friday.. my friend is leaving for the Army, I'll be at a party with mad liquor, and there will be strippers.. I probably will not be here again.. but I promise you next Saturday after my friend's wedding and after party.. with 4 kegs, mad liquor, etc.. I'll post here.
  7. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) Beckham doubled in this game, fyi I know...... QUOTE (kev211 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Not because of the double, but because of the fear he struck in the angels the minute they stepped into the ball park. Count it.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:18 PM) If we're getting the .300 AVG/.400 OBP Figgins, then yes, I'd want him. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) You would? So if you could have Podsednik for 1 year and $4 million or Figgins and 3/$27 or 4/$36, would you still go with Figgins? I meant as far as the player. Obviously if $$ is in the equation it'll be different though I still would consider Figgins, as I think Pods is just having a crazy, fluke year personally.
  10. Huddy!!! Ouch on Omogrosso. Had to wonder why he was struggling that bad in AAA. It'll be interesting to see how he does. He's been downright awesome this year. Futuresox.. get on this.
  11. Gordon Beckham b****es. (if you didn't notice.. even if he goes 0-4, I'll say this to every sox win)
  12. QUOTE (Karko's Throat Skin @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 10:59 PM) See: Cowley Pods or Figgins in 2010? God I hate Cowley. And no offense to Pods, but if it's between those two, I'll take Figgins anyday of the week.
  13. QUOTE (UGABrandon @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) I've been following the talk about Beckham on this board for a couple weeks and figured it was time to post. I'm a Georgia fan and followed the UGA baseball team for years and I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon is the best player we've ever had come through. You guys are lucky to have him. If you didn't know this already he was a stud in college...a game changer for sure. Welcome to soxtalk man. :cheers I already like you more than Beckham4thehall.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) Cha-ching. I picked a good time to be starting game threads. Meh beginners luck. Hell I was once 4-0 (finished 10-4 in 2004-05) ya know. Heads had a ridiculous record for a long time.
  15. Yea I didn't agree with Ozzie leaving Gavin in in the 9th.
  16. King Kong in the trunk. Dont stop get it get it.
  17. Holmberg goin tonight for Bristol. It'll be interesting to see how he does, pending rain.
  18. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) I put the chat room back up on my server. Same link: http://mike.westernave.net/chat/chatroom.html Enjoy chat crew. Late night sex talk people!! let's do it!!!
  19. QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 3, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) Bacon is an awful nickname. Hated it since day one, and have never called him that on this board, and still will never do it. But.. if Beckham wants the Slayer nickname to be gone, then I think we should probably stop calling him that as well.. but I'm still keeping my avy till at least the end of the season.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Jared Mitchell went 2-4 with an RBI. Also, with a CS. Good to see he's starting to be a bit more agressive on the bases. Best part about that game... Kenny Williams' son wasn't leading off (even in this game actually). Rejoice.
  21. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) Pods may be the dumbest man in the majors but he sure can hit! I would say Alexei's baseball I.Q. is worse, but I get your point.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) Won 4 of 5 with fathom away. Ha I'm telling you, this team clicks when fathom never post in a game thread or at all.
