Miscellaneous "MLB" Trade Notes
QUOTE(rockren @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) I hate to say it, but the Twins won out big in this one. Delmon is as talented as it gets. Delmon is the kind of guy you'd hope to headline a list of prospects in a deal where you deal Santana.....let alone Garza. I'll just respectfully disagree, but I do understand your input.

Sean Taylor~~ Rest In Peace
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 27, 2007 -> 09:27 PM) It's just part of a sick cycle that is so hard to explain, yet you know it when you see it. It's even sadder when you see it seems Sean was trying to turn his life around, but South Florida can be a VERY dangerous place, especially if you have a problematic past, because bad people never forget and always seem to seek out revenge. I always want to say that these guys need to learn to disassociate themselves from the bad people and bad neighborhoods, but I would assume it can't just be that easy to forget everything you knew growing up, which is why this issue is really much bigger, and is about just how sad and out of control violence is on the streets. I just wish Taylor would have more intensly heeded the warning a week ago when the robbers left a knife on the bed, maybe he'd still be here. RIP. This is an amazing post. I also saw the rumor (likely true) is that Clinton Portis (who, besides family, is probably the closest to Taylor) is gonna change his number from 26 to 21 in honor of him.

Which Sox Player Would Win in a Fight??
Honestly, Jim Thome is a nice guy, but if someone pisses him off, it's over. He's a quiet monster. Fields is a close second.

I am Legend looks like a damn good movie comming up, despite me not seeing Will Smith in that type of lead role but he does surprise me sometimes. I'll see how it is.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
QUOTE(JoshPR @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 10:13 AM) I like the Cabrera Trade. Very Good #2 hitter and dependable with the glove. Sould help Fields out and Richar. Hi guys, Long time no see What's up my Boriqua brotha?!

OFFICIAL: Sox Sign Linebrink - 4 yrs, 19 mil
Wow did this come out of nowhere. Typical under the radar Kenny. I've long said Linebrink is overrated, but I do hate on him alot cause he's gonna be one of those guys that will give us heart attacks this season but he will get the job done usually and is a good veteran presence. I'm not a fan of this signing as I was with the trade of Cabrera, but I do believe Linebrink is gonna surprise people. So I don't mind this signing at all even though it will a bit bothersome in my mind IF this is all true.

Torii Hunter
QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) I can't find a very good picture, but Torii likes to wear his cap cocked to the side, too. And the problem with that is.... I'm glad I never made the majors no matter what numbers I put up. Some here would hate my guts over how I would wear my hat also which IMO is just ridiculous. Just some humourous things I've seen from fans here. /rant And back to the topic

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
I believe Cabrera speaks spanish also even though his english speaking is also very good. That will also help Richar for communication purposes on the field. Richar-Cabrera combo should be quite good this season and I am very high on Richar as well.

Excellent show as usual guys. Glad I could contribute.

2007-08 NBA Thread
Remember we started off 3-9 last year and still made the playoffs. I'm definitely not off the bulls bandwagon but they better step it up and soon. There TOs and defense has been bad so far. Not to mention inconsistant shooting and not stepping up to the FT line.

Rollins is your NL MVP
This is probably the first time in a while I've agreed on basically every award that was given.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) ok, ive softened on this. Excellent. Glad some people here who don't mind the trade are convincing you considering I like the trade myself. Now if we can get the other 80% of people here to stop overreating were gonna be in good shape. In all honesty, I'm surprised the Angels boards hate the deal even though they are filling up a strength. Garland will be a very good 4th-5th starter for them and this almost means E. Santana is basically gone. They can get a real sexy package up to land Miguel Cabrera.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) Hate to say it, but I think the starting rotation is probably set unless either we gamble on a Garcia/Colon/Clement coming off an injury.. I don't think you do this deal as is unless you think Floyd and Danks are taking those last 2 spots and you're still counting on Jose. Because the next option on the list seems to be Broadway and Gio, and I find it hard to believe we're penciling either of those 2 into the rotation yet. Good post. I'm surprised most didn't see this comming. 90% of us (and damn near most GM's) knew Garland or Contreras was going to be dealt. So that would have left a hole in the rotation anyways. I doubt any of us were expecting another pitcher back in return as far as MLB ready (or even stud spect perhaps a B- but moslty a C+/C- type) It's a damn shame most posters here are down on Danks considering he wasn't even suppose to be up with us last season and showed most here during the first half the man has a s***load of talent. I'm confident he can put up Garland's numbers easily (it might not be this comming season, who knows, but he will be a better pitcher down the road IMHO) Gavin Floyd is the real wildcard here and I won't be surprised to see a veteran signing/trade that can compete with the youngsters or even be in the rotation spot. Jon Garland was nothing more than an average pitcher. It's a damn shame for him he couldn't go to the NL (or the Dodgers in Cali) which possibly would have made him even better.

Jon Garland
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) As alluded to, the soul patch will be missed. Eh... I won't be too disappointed considering we got Danks now and he rocks his out pretty nicely.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) And the signing of Uribe told you that he would be our starting SS, that should show you how accurate your feelings are. ^^^^^^^^^^^ Jesus, it's only November. And if some people read alittle more on this thread Kenny has already stated he's looking to trade Uribe which would make this trade look even better. I've already stated that I don't mind this trade one bit. I love O.Cabrera. It just sucks that we couldnt get back at least a spect (or two) But taking 12 mil off the books and getting upgraded at SS is solid. Kenny definitely has something else up his sleeve. This is soxtalk so I do expect overreaction and stubborness.

Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
Saw it on ESPN Bottom line. I love Cabrera and don't mind this deal at all. I just wish they would have at least thrown in a spect (perhaps C+ type) or two. Now sure how much $$$ were getting back either from the Angels. BTW, Tru is gonna be pissed.

2007-08 NBA Thread
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) What was wrong with Hinrich's game tonight Ace? Other than him not being a true point guard, his bone headed mistakes and consistant turnovers are very horrid to watch (not the TOs he's making is like if he was a rookie in this league not someone whose been in the NBA for 4+ seasons) I'm not gonna even mention him basically missing most of the shots he throws up there. He has some positives going for him but it looks like he's regressing instead of progressing in specific areas and it shows. I seriously hope he picks it up and quickly cause even if he becomes solid, I want to see him part of a package to get Kobe and this is comming from me who hates Duhon worse but at least he is a truer PG and can be serviceable. (and when you have Kobe, you do need to do much scoring just get your assist in/play good defense) The money also plays a part unfortunitely for Kirk but it is a buisness.

The Bulls got seriously owned tonight. And oh yea... Kirk Hinrich is horrible.

Ben Wallace actually showed up. What a freakin game he put on. And kudos to Skiles for basically leaving the starting line-up the whole game. Now when Kobe scores 50 on us later on tonight (but hopefully we win) we will probably hear more rumors..
