QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) They're usually archived, so you can watch them later. Plus, the rest of Charlotte's road games this month will be streamed as well on MiLB.tv. Thanks John. BTW, Juan Silverio promoted back to Kanny.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) Charlotte's next two games will be streamed online on MiLB.tv, Ace. Unfortunately I won't be online till about 10 pm central time.. So I'll miss the games. (maybe I can catch the 8th-9th or if they play extra innings. )

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) What was your old name? J.Reedfan8 (and no I've never put any thought/creativity on my user name like you and others do Quinarvy though that was much better than this name.. though Ace is da business)

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Are you going to change your username back now also? I am seriously considering it, but I don't want his ass being released next week or something. Up until he got traded I had his name on here, so I might have to do it (I'll take the day to think it over). Thing is, I've had this name for like 5-6 years and I'm sure many are used to it, plus I was like 15 or so, so the name was more-so of a true fan and beginning prospect lover/follower. I will now look at my autographed Jeremy Reed baseball with pride.

Alex Gonzalez traded to Braves for Yunel Escobar
SoxAce replied to LittleHurt05's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) The Braves made this move to put them over the hump for this year. The NL is really up in the air, especially once the playoffs start. Escobar missed time due to some sort of injury early in the year (I can't remember exactly what, but ironically I dropped Yunel for Alex in my money fantasy league, and I've kept Alex since) when he came back, he never really produced offensively and he's been benched multiple times for pissing off Bobby Cox one way or another. The Braves see an opportunity to win this year and they're going for it. It's a pretty lateral move defensively, but if Gonzalez even comes close to how he's been producing offensively, it's a huge upgrade to the lineup. Everything I've read suggests that Gonzalez will regress, but he's been incredibly consistent since day 1 of the season, maybe it's his career year and the Braves will capitalize on it. Giving Bobby his last hurrah by upgrading this season before he's gone. Classy move for a classy organization. Great post BTW. -
QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) Following I believe are FA's: Steve Blake Rafer Alston Jason Williams CJ Watson Watson for sure is my first option. In fact... I was back and forth on wanting him over Livingston. Unless the Bulls really want a true veteran like Skip to my Lou, Dooling, Earl Watson (who I like also.. know what your going to get), or House. I'm happy for Shaun though. Got a decent contract and he's probably going to start there. Really good for him. Bulls could also go the trade route, though that might be unnecessary for a backup. Might as well should bring back Law if that is the case.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) This thread has 11 posts and you have 6 of them lol including bak to back posts 3 times, sit back and relax some. The Braves definitely overpaid but if Gonzalez continues the production he has given so far this season I dont think they regret it. Seems he's the only one who is screaming like his head is cut off. -
Kid hasn't pitched one game in AAA yet and people are already wanting to slide him into our rotation in a pennant race (70+ pitches, 70-80 innings be damned) while the sox said all along they want to protect his arm since he pitched alot of stressful innings in college. (and I won't even go into the potential bust factor) Ridiculous.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:23 AM) Ya it's the break. I'm sure Konerko and Thornton might be terrible at the all-star game, but hey if you don't see her when we get back to business (we still gotta win 2 to have another 10 game win streak) it's all good. American league better win though. Yikes... I need some lottery tickets.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) From March 13th on, he was averaging almost 30 minutes a game. I think he's more than capable of that especially with another summer full of rehab and workouts. And he's from Illinois. I think the Bulls could easily get him for under 2 mil a year. From March 13th till about mid March, he only played 25+ minutes four times UNTIL the last 10 games or so like I said where he was having 34, 36, 37, 39, 37, 37, 41, etc.. minute nights (pretty much every night). That is one of the main reasons I caught a couple games from him. He is from Peoria. You are correct though, that does hold some weight from him as a backup since he isn't playing on a terrible Wizards team, nor won't be the starter (still though 36 games, 22 minutes per is still a risk). But I hope he can at least be adequate defensively. I would no doubt, love to see him sign here. BTW, I still won't jump the gun on netting Redick as some posters here have. I still think the Magic owner will ridiculously match it.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) I could care less what he did in this game as long as he comes back healthy and rested. Not to mention mentally fresh. I hate seeing guys (Dan Uggla quickly comes to mind) who had a poor all-star game effect him the remainder of the season. (sad to even say but even professional baseball players are mentally weak)

Ya I haven't worked out in a week and a half since finishing the Insanity program, and I was sick the past few days and just got over it. MAYBE I'll start tomorrow, but I'll probably just ply some basketball to get some type of cardio going.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 05:59 PM) I'm seeing a lot of Livingston love around here. I'm assuming he played pretty well last year after completely destroying his knee? He played well the last 10 games or so for the Wizards. Signing him though would be a major risk, considering this season will be his full first in about 3-4 years. I caught a couple of games he played last season, and the explosion just isn't there for him anymore. He is tentative still going to the basket as I'm sure in the back of his mind he doesn't want his knee giving out again (though at spurts he will surprise with what he still has and at other spurts, he will ole' an assignment just to protect his knee), which would probably end his career and never had a 3 point shot (which I don't like that fit behind Rose or when Derrick and him play together cause of his length which will happen) and isn't very strong nor as fast guarding quicker PG and stronger SG. With all that said though, he is an excellent passer, excellent court vision (better than Rose) and can break down a defense with his superior ball handling and as a very high basketball I.Q. Sad to see the bad luck he's had though. He could of been one of the most interesting PG to follow in the game now with all his potential. (still has it, but more-so needs to get by with craftiness ala Nash) He is definitely worth the vet minimum though. Paying him say.. Kyle Korver money wouldn't be wise unless it was for a short term deal. (1.. 2 years tops) I might prefer a guy like C.J. Watson, maybe Keyon Dooling (though that is if worse comes to worst, or if the Bulls prefer a veteran backup), but Livingston might be the better fit. I just hope Rose doesn't get too burned out played 38+ minutes a night or I hope Shaun really is back capable of playing at least 13-15 minutes a night.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Paul Konerko and Matt Thornton look damn good. The rest of em suck. ....You were saying?
-
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Well this is assuming they don't all regress massively like the numbers suggest they will. Well I'm counting on that of course, especially going up to another level where the competition is harder and they can very easily flame out/have a bad year, but the defense will be there (minus Gilmore) all around and they should have pretty good pitching. Remember Jeff, I was the one who said W-S would be our best minor league affiliate this year. I have no problems going on record again saying the Barnos (or Kanny) will probably be our best affiliate next season.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:25 PM) Worth considering though is that Bosh was on a Suns style offensive team...they made it a point the last few years that they weren't going to care about classical defense. Actually if I remember, Sam Mitchell's system was predicated on the Raptor perimeter defenders forcing the guy to the lane where if everyone rotated correctly help would finish him off. He also ran the triangle if I'm not mistaken, so his players had to have had a high I.Q. Problem was, most of his players gave no effort in alot of games and pretty much tuned him out/gave up on him. Bosh even with a block a game, was very well known as a lazy defender when he was in Toronto and only turned it up at certain times. I don't want to defend Mitchell, cause obviously he had alot of flaws as well and well deserved to get the axe, but he did get a pretty raw deal.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Can't be 2009 every year. Maybe Charlie Leesman will be interesting to watch this week. Ya 2011 is going to be another fun Barons team to watch. Most of those W-S kids will probably be promoted up there next season. (some even making the jump very soon this year)

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Damn, I was hoping to see him pitch. This has just not been a good year for you John... as far as Barons baseball.
