QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) I could see the Sox leaking info about the Dodgers to try and get Boston to up their offer. As for Sale on the Dodgers, wouldn't feel bad one bit he would be at the same spring training facility. Could get a close up view of him cutting jersey's into chain people and see yearly diatribes from his pulpit about one thing or another. Would be more entertaining to see that kind of fun stuff if he's not on the team anymore. Yo gusto Urias, De Leon, Bellinger, Verdugo, Barnes. I could see LA giving more of a fair price than Boston. I think everyone is smokin something. No way Sox get Pederson, De Leon, Bellinger AND Urias for Sale and Frazier. Sale is a great baseball player, but he's not worth your entire farm system and a major league CF. I could see De Leon, Bellinger, Verdugo and some younger guys.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) I have no idea? Offensive guy that can't play defense? BP like's his framing. Plays 2B/CA, great walk rate, has speed. I'm a big fan.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Oct 20, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) Am I that delusional as I watch these playoffs to think the White Sox are not that far off? I don't see stacked lineups and deep rotations. Hell the Dodgers only have two starting pitchers and one of them is the definition of lightening in a bottle. The Giants offense was abysmal and the Dodgers are not much better. With the stars and scrubs roster, limited payroll flexibility and nothing coming up through the minors of value, trading one or more of our stars is the only way to add significant value and depth. Plus, could you imagine how hosed this franchise would be if we lost either Sale or Quintana. Look at the negative impact Abreu's slump had on the entire team offensively simply because we lack depth. I'd be open to dealing Sale, Abreu, Eaton and or Robertson. Give me one or two major league or major league ready players, and a couple prospects. Plus I can add one or two players with the money I just traded away. Imagine if we did a total rebuild. The talent Sale, Quintana, Eaton, Abreu and Robertson would bring back would be huge.

I think the Yankees will be in the mix and they will only driving up the paying price. Both NYY and BOS have the prospects and major league roster depth to trade for Sale.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 18, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) It's not a 1 for 1 comparison. Acquiring JBJ comes at the expense of Chris Sale and guys like Devers, Kopech, etc. are 3 or 4 years away (at best) from contributing to the big league team in a meaningful way. JBJ is gone by then, so what's the point? Gomez costs nothing. Well not nothing exactly, but probably a contract similar to what the Sox gave Jackson last offseason. If you trade Sale, you have to build it around guys like Moncada and Ben that contribute immediately to the big league roster unless you are going burn it down full scale rebuild, which is simply not realistic under this management. It depends what your goal is and your window. If you are still going for it the next three years, then you get players that can contribute today. That means trade Kopech and Devers for someone that can play today. If you want players that can contribute today and want to strengthen your pipeline, then you keep them. Example (I'm not suggesting this trade): Sale for JBJ, Rodriguez, Devers, Kopech. Then Kopech + Devers for Jake Lamb. Sign Wieters with Sale money. RF Eaton LF Cabrera DH Abreu 1B Frazier 3B Lamb CF JBJ CA Wieters 2B Lawrie SS Anderson SP Quintana SP Rodon SP Gonzalez SP Rodriguez SP Shields This wouldn't be your final product (we'd want to strengthen our rotation), but the current state after the moves.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 13, 2016 -> 12:03 AM) If you could get Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech and Swihart for Sale and Melky, do you do it? If I'm Boston, I'm asking for Nate Jones instead of Melky

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) The flaw in his logic is he bases things based upon surplus value and the surplus value for an unrpoven player is significantly overrated in his model as it doesn't not seem to account for "bust factor" probability and seems far more focused on ascribing a surplus value based more on the ceiling vs. anything else. As a result, you include one top 10 prospect and the "surplus" value damn near equates to Sale (which for all the reasons I said above, clearly should make damn near zero plausible sense). He's right it's an overpay, but it's how the market is right now. Look at the haul NYY got for 2 months of Chapman and 2 yrs/ 2 mos of Miller. That overshot his formula as well.

I'll take Blackmon and McGee from the Rockies and Norris from the Padres. All fit nicely into the 2016-2017 plan. Anderson Eaton Abreu Cabrera Frazier Blackmon Lawrie Morneau Norris

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 13, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) EJ, Danish, and Beck maybe? Swihart is one of the top catching prospects in baseball. I wouldn't ask for anything less than Rodon if I were them.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) I'd love if the Sox added Lincecum This has White Sox dumpster diving signing written all over it. I still like Cashner from SD. If you take Kemp or Melvin Jr (plus $), it probably wouldn't cost you much prospect wise. The #5 pitcher is concerning to me, not because Danks sucks but because of expected regression from Latos and Rodon is good but still young.

Trade targets: who is available and at what cost?
striker replied to blackmooncreeping's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Time for a Redsox/Dodgers Blue Jays/Marlins roster swap Sox Get: Inciarte, Teheran, Markakis, Aybar Braves Get: Danks, LaRoche, Fullmer, Danish, Engel, Garcia, Sanchez Sox Get: Segura, Braun, Will Smith, Jimmy Nelson, $ Brewers Get: Anderson, Adams, Sanchez, Danks, Garcia, couple other prospects -
I don't know why everyone sells Desmond so short. His down year was Cespedes's average year before 2015. He plays a premium position and could move to 3b, 2b, or the OF later.

QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 21, 2015 -> 11:48 AM) no way..... that will negate all the good work that was done. Yeah, I posted that before I looked into Fernendez. I knew he had TJ but didn't realize he was such a health risk. I'd keep Rodon over Fernandez. I'd still like Ozuna somehow though. -

Marcell Ozuna. Rodon, Anderson, Garcia and a couple other prospects for Fernandez and Ozuna. -
Viable Trade Candidates That Wont Cost Anderson or Fulmer?

QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) Shelby Miller is 25 years old. He has had three solid years, not just one good year. He is arb eligible for the first time in 2016 and isn't a FA until 2019. He is also a pitcher, which some teams value a bit higher than position players. He was drafted by St. Louis in the first round, which has value right there ( ). He had a lot of value. AZ may have overpaid, but not by that much, and we don't know what others were offering for Miller, so who's to say the market didn't determine the cost. What would you have asked for from them for Quintana? Pollock + -

QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:45 AM) More like Robertson, Garcia and a top 5 prospect (and probably more) for Lamb and Peralta. Lamb is young, good and under team control until 2021. He's not even arb eligible until 2018. Peralta is a stud and also under team control until 2021 and not arb eligible until 2018. Robertson may still have value, but how much is debatable. Garcia has no value right now other than as a prospect. If you want Lamb and Peralta, you're deal will involve Quintana. You guys are talking about a team that just gave up a 3WAR player and two of their top 4 prospects, including the #1 draft pick for SHELBY MILLER, who has had one year of success. You are giving AZ too much credit if you ask me. Peralta is 28 and has had one good year. You can't even argue WAR either because from a WAR perspective Miller = Inciarte. If you are talking value, Inciarte > Miller because he has more years of control. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) The DBacks wouldn't trade Peralta for any young Indians' starter (Kluber isn't available). 5-ish WAR, high OBP, young/cost-controlled, they would ask for a lot more than Robertson and Avi would be totally useless in that huge outfield. Undoubtely Quintana or Anderson/Fulmer for Peralta. Why wouldn't they simply have signed KRod and subsequently have kept Peralta, Pollock and Tomas as their OF if closer was really their top priority? Peralta's high WAR was 3.7, which to your point is still asking a lot. But they just gave a lot for Miller, so I'm willing to risk asking a lot. -

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 11:01 AM) I like the Name Lamb idea. What does AZ need that the Sox could send their way in a trade if Lamb is available? AZ is in win now mode and needs bullpen help. The closer market is hot right now so I'd offer Robertson and Garcia for Lamb, Peralta and a top 5 prospect. We'd have to replace Robertson but we'd also free up $13m that could be used to dump Laroche and sign Upton or Cespedes. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) But not a plan that you can easily sell as seriously competing this season... If you land Upton, Gordon or Cespedes it does. I think at this point the Sox fans care more about the standings than the headlines. The Lamb deal won't get much attention in the headlines but it's a much more sustainable long term approach than two years of Frazier, IMO. -

I want Jake Lamb. Sounds like he could be had with Drury able to take his place. -
It's hard for me to imagine the Sox giving $100m to a pitcher.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 09:07 AM) Notes http://t.co/wzh3qMV3cf Rios turned down trade to #Royals last July #Rangers. Drew’s market #bluejays #athletics #cubs #whitesox https://twitter.com/Joelsherman1/status/549918090528845825 I read that as the White Sox being a match because of their need for backup SS and 2B, not that they are actively engaged.

I'm fine with Danks and Noesi at 4/5. Anyone else you get at this point is going to be just as much of a risk. I think Noesi could have a solid year. He had to overcome a lot last year to pitch 170 innings. He was dumped by two teams, pitched out of the bullpen then started the rest of the year. I think he has three good pitches and with a little vote of confidence could be a great pickup.

White Sox trade Quintana and Ramirez to Dodgers for Urias, Saeger, Pederson and Zach Lee
