  1. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Seriously? Cotts, Jenks, Polite, and Contreras had arguably their greatest years of their career with Cooper. Agreed but they all also fell apart, Jenks regressing.
  2. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) I am interested to see if Coop can get through to Cabrera and make him more than just a thrower. He has done a great job with other reclamation projects and at least this one isn't as dire as Floyd was when he was on his last option. I have to disagree with you that he has done a great job with other reclamation projects. I think he has had more failures than successes. Successes: Thornton Failures: Linebrink Jenks (keeps regressing) Aardsma Sisco Cotts MacDougal Masset Polite Contreras I'm not blaming him for the failures as much as showing you that his ability to "fix" people is overblown.
  3. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Ellsbury is close to arbitration and I'm not sure the Padres want to take on that nightmare with Boras as his agent. Padres could flip Ellsbury to another team and get even more prospects.
  4. http://www.fan-exchange.com/mlb/teamhittin...amp;yearid=2010 I have Teahen batting 2nd and Jones last. Ozzie will probably disagree.
  5. Stand pat. Baseball is a game of two halves, the first half you see what sticks to the wall, the second half you fill in gaps. If we have $6M to spend now then I imagine we could get a good bat at the trade deadline. I bet Jones could bat .250 hit 30hr and drive in 80.
  6. Interesting quote from KW via Cowley: Shows you the GMs to bite on the rumors that are probably manufactured by Boras.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) Anyone else find it i interesting that KW threw out a timetable of 24 hours for Damon to change his mind? Maybe he wanted to leak his offer to get a decision made.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) Anyone else find it i interesting that KW threw out a timetable of 24 hours for Damon to change his mind? It doesn't make sense. It's like he's showing his cards and making them show theirs.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) As much as maybe Damon wanted to play in Chicago, it seems all along that Boras/Damon knew that the Tigers were the team that they could get the most out of. The Tigers were always going to be the team that got the last shot of boosting their offer, and that seems to be what turned KW off. Boras has worked this way with the Tigers so many times in the past. Boras seems to get his way with Detroit too. They'll probably sign him for 2yrs $12M.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) Ugh, apparently, he is somewhat worshiped there. My sister-in-law, like any good Sox fan, hates it. You might hate him but he maximizes his players value, which is his job.
  11. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) Konerko and AJ are both off the books next year. That is $18 million right there that can be used towards an AGon extension. Who catches if Flowers is part of the trade?
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) It's not that easy. He's made the effort, the Padres aren't biting. Yet. I think the deal can be done right now but the Padres are asking too much.
  13. I bet KW will say F it and get Agon.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) I actually have a good feeling about this. I don't know why. I guess if the 1st attempt at the Peavy trade has taught us anything, it's that these things come back around. Agreed
  15. We'll find out exactly what KW was thinking during his reality show
  16. White Sox pulled their offer but it sounds like KW would still be interested if Damon/Boras came back to them. But he just wasn't going to wait.
  17. KW didn't like to play Boras's wait game
  18. I like these numbers: RISP .299BA/.377OBP Innings 7-9 .298BA, .394OBP High Leverage .337BA/.445OBP Runner on 3rd, less than 2 out .391BA/.423OBP Runner on 3rd, 2 outs .286BA/.432OBP All things our team struggled with last year.
  19. I love our pitching and I think our offense isn't great but adequate. Our pitching is good enough to keep us in every game. I'm hoping our new offensive approach will provide more consistency. If there are any holes come May/June/July, I have faith Kenny will fill them.
  20. Any guesses as to what his numbers would be with the Sox? I'm thinking .280/.350/20hr/65rbi
  21. Jim did a good write up on this over at www.soxmachine.com
  22. LOL. I didn't notice that. I need to update it. I filled that out a few weeks ago.
  23. I've started a soxtalk.com group competition for standings predictions on www.fan-exchange.com. PM me if you are interested in participating and I'll send you the group password. http://www.fan-exchange.com/group.asp?groupid=9
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) All the more reason to be the first one to write it off! "Do you even no what a write off is?" "No, but they do, and they're the ones that write it off" Name that show.
  25. So what would you all rather hear, nothing? or... - Jones said he's fat and should have retired but why do that when he can sit on a bench and make $500,000 - Greg Walker watched Rios's swing and said we are f#$%^ed. - Jake Peavy said he misses the San Diego weather and wants to go home. He also thinks the Padres pitchers will out hit the White Sox DH platoon in 2010
