  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 05:17 AM) Ok, I found one more. Toni Ginnetti in the Dec. 14th, 2005 Chicago Sun Times wrote: "Sox rumored to be interested in Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Javier Vazquez", you have to pay for the full article so this will have to do. Javy was traded a few days later. I guess what would have made more sense for me to say is that of all the deals that are rumored very few ever happen. I don't think any of the recent trades have leaked. Danks, Gavin, Quentin, Cabrera and Swisher all came out of no where.
  2. My theory about the Jenks rumor, it's smoke and mirrors by both KW and Minaya. Minaya is trying to bring down the price the free agents are asking. KW is trying to get Jenks to sign a long term deal. KW did the same thing when Garland, Garcia, Buehrle, Contreras, Vazquez were all nearing free agency. He shopped them and got them to extend, even at a discount. Jenks could bring some talent back in return but he has been so solid it's hard to see KW trade him. Plus, like I've said many times on this board, the deals that are rumored with KW never happen. He's all about suprises.
  3. QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 12, 2008 -> 12:00 AM) Serious? Let's also go after Thomas,Bonds,Maddux,P.martinez,R.Johnson and Ivan Rodriguez! LOL. I wasn't serious about Griffey.
  4. The Twins traded the best pitcher in baseball for players that didn't even impact their team and they were 1 game from making the playoffs. Anything is possible. Besides, dumping Dye and Jenks could free up money for some big move. Griffey???
  5. Unless KW gets blown over by an offer, we will probably see Nix or Getz at 2B. I would love to get Grudzielanek but the money it would cost us could be spent elsewhere. I'm also a true believer that your minor league system should be able to produce at least 1 pitcher and 1 position player every year or they aren't doing their job. I just love the fact that KW is always active in the offseason. Keeps us on our feet and busy at work
  6. Kenny has never been a free agent type of GM. All of his moves are via the trade. So I don't see Frucal happening. Free Agent Signings: Dotel Linebrink Ramirez Dye Pierzynski Hall Trades: Thome Quentin Swisher Cabrera Thornton MacDougal Freddy Garcia Vazquez Danks Floyd Contreras Griffey
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) How about we don’t have an injury-prone guy whose average season has an OPB of 331, and a slugging of .337 starting in an American League Lineup? I assume you are referring to Taveras?
  8. How about Vazquez for Atkins and Taveras, then we sign Lowe 3/36. Taveraz bats 9th and plays CF. We could flip Atkins or trade fields.
  9. I don't like the Phillies pitching aside from Hamels. Moyer, Myers and Blanton will all get killed by TB bats. TB has some good pitching. They are young too so they'll be around awhile.
  10. He almost no hit the Tigers and the Twins. In yo face Keith!
  11. You have to think that Carl Crawford might be available. TB has alot of OFs and he is expensive for them. Maybe they would do a swisher for crawford deal? They could use the power and swisher can play RF, LF, CF, DH and 1B.
  12. How about Anderson, Richard, Fields and Swisher for Roberts and Mora. (+14) Move Alexei to SS. Thome for Figgins CF (-9) Add 5 mil to the payroll CF Figgins 2B Roberts LF Quentin DH Dye 1B Konerko CA Pierzynski 3B Mora SS Ramirez RF Wise
  13. Alot of good happened this season besides us making the playoffs: 1. Carlos Quentin 2. Alexei Ramirez 3. John Danks 4. Gavin Floyd Alot of people complained about our lack of youth and you have 4 players there that will be around for awhile. I too would love to see Thome, Cabrera, Vazquez, Griffey and Uribe gone. I think Swisher can rebound and Konerko still has something to contribute.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 01:06 AM) By the way, it sure would be nice to bring back Bradford and have him in our pen again. Amazing that it was 8 years ago he was a surprise roster addition against the Mariners in the playoffs. I can't believe Bradford cleared waivers. KW fell asleep on that one.
  15. If you win 1 of 2 on the road in the playoffs then it's a plus. As much as I would have liked to win yesterday, I really like our chances the next 3 games. I would like to see Richard start over Javy the next time around. Or start Javy and take him out after 3 innings. He's untouchable the first three innings most the time.
  16. If we lose Contreras for 2009 then I would like to see us move Javy, put Richard in at #5 and sign Lowe. He might be in the 3/39 range that Kenny hunts for. I want Javy and Thome both gone. We need consistency.
  17. This team is like John Mccain's presidential campaign. Good, but when it comes to the issues they just aren't good enough.
  18. This team is too old and tired. The gas ran out along time ago. The Twins are younger and actually know how to play baseball.
  19. I predict a Sox win tonight and both the Sox and Twins get swept over the weekend. Both teams suck and don't deserve the playoffs.
  20. Enjoy the handicapped parking spots Crede
  21. I have to go with TB being the best team. They lost their 2 best hitters and they are still winning. You just take Guererro out of the Angels lineup and that offense sucks.
  22. I can't stand watching Swisher and Thome take strike three all year long, and Swisher does it yesterday with the the tying run on. I'm also tired of Danks pitching 5 or 6 innings. Don't say its his fatigue either because he's been doing it all year. That's why he has 11 no decisions. Saunders has the exact same pitches as Danks, but he's alot more affective. Learn to pitch Danks.
  23. The Whitesox remind me of an old beat up car. They think because it's still running that it's a good car when it's not good. Even if this team makes the playoffs they aren't going anywhere. They'll be on the road the first round of the playoffs and they suck on the road.
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) I don't think the heat of a pennant race is where a young hurler with only AA experience should be thrust. We have a couple options. DJ Carrasco can satrt or we use Richard, who pitched only 1 inning of Sunday's game. I am not thrilled with that choice, but it is what it is and maybe getting his feet wet and his butt whipped in 3 starts makes him a little wiser and thus a better choice for Tuesday Joba Chamberlain seemed to do fine with the pressure.
