  1. Goodfella is back out there - gives a lead-off single.
  2. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) i want to see who they trot out there for the bottom of the 9th... i say throw almanzo out there to see if he has and YAVEOS (if almanzo hasnt pitched yet) I vote we see if Hermanson can pitch from a gurney - he's not having much luck from the stretch.
  3. Sounds like Lopez made a nice play to end the inning on a grounder up the middle.
  4. Liotta gives up a lead-off double in the bottom of the 8th - then issued a full count ball to the next hitter - 1st and 2nd - nobody out. Keith Ginter up.
  5. QUOTE(SouthsideBlitz @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) I just got home from school ... I knew we were down by alot earlier, what's going on!!?? 6 runs in the 8th.
  6. With the bases loaded and one out - Sweeney knocks in the lead run with a sacrifice fly to left. 2 out, runners on 1st and 2nd.
  7. Rogowski up. 1 out. Runners on 1st and 2nd - Thome reached on a squibber to the left side for an infield single - wild pitch - now runners on second and third - Owens running for Thome.
  8. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) borchard showed off some LTP POWER and hit a 3 run HR... then valido hit a solo shot score is TIED 7 - 7 white sox still up in the bottom of the 8th The Oakland announcers credited Lopez with the game tying solo homer - not Valido (for what it's worth).
  9. At least Lopez is smiling through all of this.
  10. QUOTE(bmags @ Mar 11, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) i hate mediocrity. Thats why i won't have kids.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) Will keep you updated. Thank you for that.
  12. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) f*** mlb.com I'll second that! :headshake
  13. QUOTE(hi8is @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) how are you listening. MLB Gameday Audio is not working for me either.
  14. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 10:40 PM) The Paul Konerko seventh-inning Grand Slam in Game Two of the 2005 World Series will go down as my favorite moment in White Sox history. Actually in attendance, the place was just waiting to explode, and, at that very moment, Paulie connects on a first-ball fastball. Being able to enjoy that expierence with my old man, someone who has lived and died with this ballclub, someone who passed his passion for his White Sox on to his oldest son, and someone who needed to break out of an in-person post-season losing streak with his belov'ed Sox, is just indescribable. We were just saying, "hey, how about Paulie comes through and hits a grand frickin' slam," and mid-sentence, Paulie connects. The ball kept carrying, carrying, carrying...the outfielder went back, back, back...and even when that ball landed in the left-field stands, it took a couple moments to realize what exactly just happened. We just looked each other and lost our minds; it was at that very moment that I knew that team was destined to win, not just for themselves, not just for the critcs, but, for all the fans that have been waiting their entire lives for this best-of-seven. An image frozen in time, an absolute flash-bulb memory, something I'll never forget for as long as I live...seeing our Paulie hit a go-ahead Grand Slam in the World Series with my old man on the Southside of Chicago, rocking out to the "Go Go White Sox" montage and AC/DC's Thunderstuck moments later... I just got the chills. Great post! It seems to me there were 5 or 6 times during the playoffs that I couldn't quite wrap my brain around the fact that they seemed to be pulling off the impossible. I watched every game by myself, because I don't know any Sox fans in my city. But each time I remember muttering something like 'Christ, it looks like it's really happening!'. 4 months later and I still have a hard time believing what happened.
  15. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Past history doesn't dictate jack. You can't just assume Frank would've blown up regardeless. As has been mentioned, Frank had really mellowed out over the last few years. He was very proffesional and did nothing but support the team during their playoff run. He could've easily whined then. Frank is not Terrell Owens. I don't think there is much the Sox could have done that would have helped Frank accept that they are better off without him.
  16. I had to laugh at Frank saying: 'Like I said before, if they had just called and said, "Thanks for the ride, we're going a different direction," I could handle that'. What a load of bull. On the one hand he says he should be treated special because he has been so special and then he comes up with this pile of utter nonsense. The fact is Thomas' ego/insecuriy simply can't accept that the Sox feel they are a better team without him. When I see how Konerko, who was such a force, carries himself like he is just one piece of the puzzle, I am reminded of how this team pulled together as one last year. No prima donna bulls***.
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) Not a bad gamble. I hope someone exceeds expecatations and performs well. Don't want someone with a 6.00ERA during Spring Training on our squad because he was merely the best of the crappy selection. Considering where the Sox play Spring Training games and the kind of stats the pitchers often put up, you have to try to take spring ERAs with a grain of salt. At least this year I think I will find myself trusting the management a little more with their selections.
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 13, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) CFL = Can't fund lots. The average player in the CFL makes 25-35K a year. He might as well stay in the MLB or use his Stanford degree. It's a little better scenario for quarterbacks. The Toronto Argonauts are reportedly on the verge of signing Eric Crouch to a contract. This is a quote from the CFL website: 'Speculation is he'll receive $80,000 in a base salary this season, but the deal has various incentives to drive the total package well beyond $100,000. If elevated to the full-time starter, he would likely be looking at an annual salary of at least $250,000-$300,000.'
  19. Since your son Shingo was always supremely respectful of the Sox, how about I get him Frank's ring!
  20. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 28 @ 2006 -> 09:56 AM) If the A's signed him for 500K, would it have been so hard for us to do the same? Just asking, don't really know. Could we have maybe offered him a job in the organization? QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Well Kenny's quote from last night is, "He wouldn't have signed with us for that much." He also went on to say if he did sign for a lesser contract, it wouldn't have been in their best interests. This is me personally, but I rather would have liked to seen Thome at 1B and Thomas DH. Konerko gets into horrible slumps and at times, it boggles me how he does get to 40HR's. And at that, I still wonder how a man with 40HR's, has way less RBI's than guys with 35. That's just my 2 cents. BTW, thanks for the article read kyyle. Thomas and the Sox don't fit very well anymore. Chicago has moved on, even if Frank hasn't. Frank has stated that his main goal is to get 52 more homers. Oakland will give him that opportunity more readily than the Sox would have. I don't think Thome is a downgrade by any means, as far as skillset goes, at this stage of the game and as far as clubhouse attitude goes ........... well ......... enough said.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) I guess you missed the playoffs and World Series, I thought one of his clients played pretty damn good for the Sox. If Konerko plays like Ross Gload the next few seasons, the contract sucks, if he plays like Vlade, it was a great contract. Tell me the influence his agent will have? I don't believe anybody is suggesting that one of his clients can't play pretty damn good baseball. The object for cost conscious clubs should be to avoid them and go for alternatives. The year that Crede was drafted, the Sox also chose Bobby Seay. Live and learn. I think they have established their present thinking since the 1996 draft. Boras has around 100 agents. The champion Sox may soon have a stable of none instead of one.
  22. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 07:02 AM) Only if the player doesn't receive a reasonable offer. Boras could ask for $15mil/year for Crede, but no one will offer that. When he receives offers similar to other players with his stats, no problem. No collusion, nothing illegal. I understand the theory that Boras will make you pay more than you should. Whether it's hypnosis, Vulcan mind control techniques, or whatever. He's super human, beware. Would your second statement have been better served in green? Most people would not attach 'hypnosis, Vulcan mind control techniques, or super humanness' to the verifiable and well-substantiated fact that his stable of clients make too much money (for the good of baseball in general and individual teams in particular). The Sox have proven to be better off for being leery of the 'currency-driven, single-mindedness' of 'Boras/client' entities. Thank God some players feel that top dollar is only important and not the be-all, end-all.
  23. Seems to me option #2 will save you some hassle in the long run. So it makes sense that we could all help that happen by shouldering a little of the hassle in the short run. Sign me up for door #2.
  24. Lyman Bostock - where forever art thou!
  25. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) This is the same boob that picked the Sawks to win the East and the Indians to win the Central just last month. So as long as he keeps changing his predictions, he will eventually be right. I always love how he views the Sox: He hates Pods, and thinks the Sox overpay on every contract. Yet he has man love for the Yankees?
