  1. i get emails from several years in the future, which is kind of cool. i hate to spoil it for anyone, but they will be still selling the same crap 30 years from now.
  2. when someone uses the word good, instead of well. for example: He swings the bat good. also when someone says something like: That was the most craziest thing i've ever seen. and now that i've typed that out, when someone says they've seen something, when really they saw it: I seen the cop run the stop sign.
  3. from an administration standpoint, there is nothing worse than a corrupt database. any problems there are now will only get worse later on, and this would probably have to be done at some point. see you in a few days soxtalk.
  4. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) Rob Neyer = Ass wipe Because all Frank did was hit Home Runs... a couple of years ago he wrote that frank was a hof even if he didn't get to 500 home runs. i guess since then he forgot about his career line of .303/.423/.562, two mvps (should be 3) 7 other times in the top 10 for mvp and just how dominating he was for that little stretch from 90-00. big hurt = first ballot
  5. zambrano's arm will blow up. he is going to be a mess of injuries in a couple years, and looks like he is already starting to break down.
  6. according to http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2005/01/c...-white-sox.html Darin Erstad of 1 year/$1M (2007), plus $3.5M 2008 option * signed as a free agent 1/07 * 07:$0.75M, 08:$3.5M club option ($0.25M buyout) * 2008 option may increase: o to $6M with 600 PAs in 2007 o by $0.25M for winning 2007 Comeback Player of the Year * buyout for 2008 may increase to as much as $1.25M based on 2007 PAs
  7. how did sweeny look in center today?. if he can play a half way decent center field there is absolutely no reason for terrero to be on the 25 man.
  8. i played the original final fantasy adventures for the old school original game boy. i liked the game a lot. i've never played any of the other ones. i just recently bought 12 and so far i like it. i can't compare it to any of the other ones though.
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 11, 2007 -> 07:09 PM) Car got broken into last night. Step 1. filed police report. Then what? Call the insurance company? What type of insurance do I need have my $300 radar detector covered for? Who fixes my glass? I was told to go to a car dealership, but then I heard people can come to your work an do it. sorry to hear about your car. you need comprehensive insurance. it may or may not cover stolen property, depends on the policy. call your insurance company and they'll help you out. usually your insurance company will have a list of companies that they certify, or authorize, or whatever they call it, where they will just pay the bill, minus deductible. there are about three or four companies around here that will come out to you and replace the windshield. i don't know about door windows though, I've never needed to get that fixed.
  10. Roland Hemond will be speaking at a charity banquet sponsored by the local independent league baseball team. I wasn't alive for most of his tenure as white sox gm, but i've heard a few of the stories. Rollie Fingers will also be there. Right now i have to work that night, but i'm hoping i can find a way to get it off.

QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 1, 2007 -> 02:09 AM) T I'm running XP, but am I in the minority who thinks Windows Firewall and Automatic Updates are terribly tragic? Ever since I switched to a 3rd party firewall, I've yet to get a virus. And ever since I turned automatic updates off, I stop getting crap I don't want on my computer. i do the same thing. i can't stand all the crap windows tries to do for me. there should be a "i know what the hell i'm doing" option when you install so all that junk isn't installed.

my brother started doing this a few years ago. if you see one of these in south west south dakota, it was probably his. i think we placed a few at kaufmann stadium a couple years ago. those are probably gone by now.

windows 2000 = best windows OS ever. i haven't used vista yet, but i'm sure its full of a bunch of useless features that i won't be able to shut off and have to edit the registry or system files to fix.
  16. My dad was a twins fan. he grew up in minnesota and went to school in minneapolis. living in southeastern south dakota, most everyone else here was a twins fan too. when i went to my first pro baseball game, i think it was about 88 or 89, the twins were playing the blue jays. well the twins lost and i decided i hated the blue jays. well in 93 the blue jays won the east, and of course the sox won the west. i was of course cheering for the white sox, because i absolutley hated the blue jays. and like many other people have said, i immediatly became a huge frank thomas fan, and a white sox fan ever since. my dad was pretty cool about it though. i would cheer for the twins when they weren't playing the sox. obviously i'm not cheering for the twins anymore, but i don't think i could ever hate the twins. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) First pro-sports game I ever went to was a Sox/A's game when I was a little kid. Fell in love as soon as I walked into the stadium. i still remember the first time i went to a ball game. it was so cool walking out of the concourse looking at the field and all the people, and just being completely awe struck. best feeling in the world.
  17. i think someone(s) with 15 spare dollars should sponsor timo's page at baseball reference and donate it to soxtalk in thanks for his service. and lets face it, no other group of people could truly represent timo the way he should be.
  18. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) ESPN says it's Vizcaino, Ohlendorf, Gonazalez, and possibly Jackson, with the Yankees only picking up $1-2 mil. wow, that is just awful. i thought they would get a lot more money than that. obviously johnson will do better in the nl west, but not 24 million over 2 years good.
  19. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) 5) I managed to bowl 18 strikes in a row without getting a 300 game. Game 2 was spare, then 11, game 3 was 7 then 3 splits. But at least I got a 700 series. i pulled this off about a month ago. back nine in the first game, front nine in the second game, then big split in the 10th. shot 790 because of that split. or it could've been that 4 pin i missed the first game.
  20. this was my wife's reaction, who knows only a little bit about baseball: hahahahahahaha
  21. 1. as far as i know, i'm the only poster from south dakota 2. my first game was at the metrodome in about 88. the twins lost to the blue jays, which directly led to my dislike of the blue jays (don't hate them anymore), which led me to cheer for the sox in 93, and i haven't turned back. 3. i am a computer nerd going back to school to be an electronics nerd. 4. i will not be going on my biannual trip to chicago this year because my first child will be born this year, and our friends we stay with in batavia will also have their first child. i will try to keep her cubs fan father from brainwashing their child. 5. one of my cats loves nacho cheese doritos bonus #6. i cleaned poo off the siderails of a hospital bed today, but my coworker put his hand in it, so i think i got the better end of the deal.
  22. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Dec 31, 2006 -> 11:14 PM) Dallas Green, lead singer of alexisonfire, did a solo project last year under the name "City and Colour" named "Sometimes" Outstanding IMO if you just want to hear a guy and his acoustic guitar, that can really sing, andd hear music in its simplest form. Check it out if you get the chance. i like alexisonfire, so i'm going to check this out. when done right acoustic songs can be so incredible.
  23. i don't think it would be a bad idea. i wouldn't want him on anything other than the incentive based contract with team options. maybe if it gets late enough in the winter, he would be willing to do something like that. i guess with the way the market has been this year i wouldn't be surprised to see someone offer him a guarenteed two year deal.
  24. i came here hoping someone would have made sense of this deal for me, cause i sure didn't get it. i thought the goal was to stock up on good, young, cheap pitching, not trade it for different good, young, cheap pitching.
  25. i really don't think crede is with the white sox after 08. i would love to take santana or some other young pitching in exchange for him, but if no one bites and arod is on the table for crede and garcia, i think you have to do that.
