  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 11:41 AM) They just showed the sound clip of Melky Cabrera's walkoff homer from last night on Sportscenter. The announcer said, "Melky Cabrera...and the Melkman delivers!" Needless to say, I'm pissed and I might sue. yeah, i figured you would know about this already. i was in ny earlier this year, they have t-shirts and stuff with melk man on them. i told some yankees fans the name was taken already. turns out they have never heard of herb.
  2. ob% uses pa, so sac flies would count against it... after all they didn't get on base. by my count, jon has 23 pitches, 17 stikes, 6 balls, 3 ground outs, 2 fly outs, 1 strike out.
  3. tigers won't even see it coming. rally crede is like a swift hard kick to the nuts of the rest of baseball.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Is it too much to ask of Ozzie for him to simply learn from his mistakes? this is what i can't understand. this isn't the first time we've seen this kind of of thing. more often than not it does't work out. i really like the energy and attitude ozzie brings, but the way he handles the pitching is sketchy.
  5. other offenses that carry fines: foul balls off the catcher, fine doubles if it is off the umpire, and possible suspension if it hits him in the junk if on a tag the runner slides feet first and hurts the fielders hand, cause them spikes is sharp punching water coolers cussing saying mean things to another player brushing someone back, incidental is a fine, intentionally maybe a suspension beating another team by more than 7 runs all of these things are just not nice and shouldn't happen. lets play nice guys.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) Someone has to go into convulsions because of this thing. Right? yes... but if sox win its cool
  7. dang, i thought if we could get through this inning we had a good chance. three (or more) against rivera is tough....
  8. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 04:55 PM) Some of the other excuses they use (both papers) is: 1. I dont write the headlines, someone else does 2. Editor chooses which stories I should write, not me 3. Editor chooses which teams I should write about, not me 4. I dont write the stories, only the headlines 5. Editor is in charge of overall content, not me 6. I dont edit my stories, our copy editors do that my wife works for the local paper here in south dakota, and 1,2,5 and 6 are true. she is not a sports writer, but these same rules apply to every department. basically she is assigned a story, submits it, and the editor moves parts around or takes parts out for whatever reasons. not completley defending them, just saying that writers don't always have complete control of their stories.
  9. the award was the commissioner's historic achievement award, not the roberto clemente award. the clemente award is recognizing a player who gives back to the community, in the spirit of clemente. a list of previous chaa winnners http://www.i-sportsbook.com/baseball/commi...ment_award.html
  10. dude... i like totally called it... http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?s=...dpost&p=1191819 high five myself no friends
  11. ugh... the fox announcers are the worst. especially buck and mccarver. in general they do a terrible job with the coverage
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) How many different ways are there to score a base hit, fo, go, fc, pu, bb, sb, sf, and hr...?? several. obviously 1b 2b 3b hr 1-9 are all the same, but after that it is what works best for you http://www.baseballscorecard.com/kscore.htm http://www.baseball-almanac.com/scoring3.shtml http://www.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/official...eping_score.jsp http://aelfhame.net/~darkhawk/baseball/scoring.html http://alexreisner.com/baseball/docs/AlexR...-08-Phi-Bal.pdf most of the basics are the same, but they are all a little different. none of these are exactly how i score.
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) Someone I know recently has started filling out score cards at the game and then brings them to me, like I know WTF I'm doing. Is there somewhere on line that actually shows you a filled out score card like the one you get at the park? as far as strike outs, K is the stardard for looking, backwards k is strikeout looking. i know there are a few places online i have seen with scoring directions... i'll look for them. there a few standards, but otherwise it seems like everyone has their own way of filling out a score card
  14. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) They said he injured his hand on Friday and wasn't sure if he wanted to play all weekend which leads me to one of my biggest pet peeves in baseball, he injured himself on a head first slide into first. i didn't see the play, so maybe he was trying to avoid a tag or something.. but still, that has to be one of the dumbest plays anyone can make
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) now, I love Jermaine Dye, but I don't see him having this good a season without Jim Thome in the lineup. this is my reasoning also. initially i would want to say dye, but i don't know if dye would be having the year he is without thome in the lineup.
  16. back in april if you told me thornton was going to be this good i would have laughed. i really thought he was going to be a disaster. thank you for proving me wrong matt and coop.
  17. so far 5 groundball outs, including all three in the third
  18. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Should have gotten more there , but hell of an inning. What it his count at? 40? 37
