  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:38 PM) this is the kind of game that can turn this slump around in a hurry. take the ball bobby. yes, especially if bobby can get these guys 1-2-3 it would really build some confidence.
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 08:02 AM) Hopefully Ozzie doesn't use his patented 9 man righty lineup. I think our best players need to be out there tonight. agreed, no reason the regulars shouldn't be out there all three games. even if pods can't hit lefties the tigers are going to make a lot of contact and i just don't feel comfortable with ozuna out in left.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) So Im going to DC on business tomorrow, planning on watching A-row take on the Nats. Nice to knock another park off my list. if you don't have seats yet try to get something on the left side or the upper deck might even be better. unless they are really close to the field you can't see the scoreboard or parts of right field from the first base side. unless they worked on it since last year, i don't know.
  4. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) **Tries to find any existing logic in this one** regression to the mean... he is 33 years old with a bad back and his 05 numbers were very good compared to his past years. could he come back and pitch like he did last year, sure. the chances of it are just very low.
  5. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) We held a lead in each of the Cleveland games, didn't we? We also held a lead in each of the Texas games. last year these games were automatic. a couple of early runs was all we needed... ah the good ol days. it just gets really frustrating, because we know this team should be winning these games. just when we thought the pen couldn't get any worse, it did. hopefully this is our slump that everyone has and after this we play much better.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:26 PM) Widger's CERA was actually quite a bit better than AJ's last year...mainly because Widger and Buehrle were working together a lot and doing quite well at it. ah, ok. i didn't know what their stats were last year. it just seemed like buehrle has been doing worse when widger catches.
  7. as far as buehrle is concerned, he does much worse when widger is catching this year ip er era w l nd aj 50 8 1.44 6 0 1 (no decision was opening night, includes sunday night game in minnesota) cw 31.2 23 6.54 0 4 1 i did this myself pretty quick, but it should be pretty accurate. also i don't know what the stats were last year, or what any of the more usefull stats are, and yes it is a small sample size, but it suggests maybe buehrle just doesn't pitch as well with widger behind the plate. it would make some sense, since buehrle rarely shakes off pitches. perhaps aj calls games better for buehrle?
  8. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 24, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) That doesn't show his 06 stats. sorry http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=3948 so far this season he has 10 2b, compared to 21 last year. with the exception of 04 the higher average seasons look better than last year. granted he only has 5 seasons and only one where he was low avg. and higher hr than normal, but i think it shows that aj is a better hitter when he doesn't try to hit home runs as often.
  9. plus the .300 avg aj hits more doubles and has a higher slg% http://www.baseball-reference.com/p/pierza.01.shtml
  10. this is probably ozzie going with whoever is hot right now. hopefully the main reason for this is to get anderson going, as was said earlier. in the long run we are defintley better with ba out there.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) Everyone loves AJ, they're just all jealous. and you would be right. who wouldn't want a guy who is going to play as hard as he can everyday and occasionally get in the other teams head. san francisco obviously didn't want him, and with what aj has done for the sox it just shows that the problem was the giants, not aj.
  12. this is what kind of pisses me off. There are plenty of twins fans around here and not one of them had any problems with aj when he played for the twins. not until san fransisco did they care. i still don't know why they boo him at the dome. they ripped off the giants and opened up a spot for mauer when they traded him. ignorant fans like that really upset me.
  13. 90's frank and robin, the early 90's where when i really became a sox fan so there you go. (is it wrong that i can still remeber pretty much every starting fielder in like 93-95?) 00 buehrle and rowand, then i'm going to put aj in there too, even though this is only his second year. when he played for the twins i always hated having to face him and thought it would be cool to have him on the sox and i love his attitude.
  14. while it is always fun to beat the cubs, there is nothing better than putting a team 3 more games behind.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Who would everyone say is the best defensive CF in baseball? Jones? i would say hunter. he reads the ball well of the bat and it seems like he is underneath everything hit his direction.
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ May 11, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Great outfielders don't see the wall, they taste it. grinderball rule #25. rowand is a big reason the phils are playing so well as of late. hope to see you back on the field soon.
  17. i didn't realize the twins were skipping baker's start. that means the sox see lohse in game 4. i would think they might want to throw baker out there just because the sox haven't seen much of him. with the exception of game one i think we can expect a lot of runs from the sox.
  18. ozzie has always gone with the guy who has the hot hand. he has said that a few times before so this doesn't really surprise me too much. now doing this in the bigs and bringing up a guy doing it in aaa is different, but i'm gonna trust kenny on this one and hope for the best.
  19. i have tickets to the saturday game in minny, which was going to be buehrle santana. seems like those two pitch against each other a lot and are usually pretty good games. vazquez santana should be pretty good though with the way vazquez has been pitching. against the twins offense vazquez might actually be able to finish a no hitter.
  20. how did freddy look? box score looks good, did he look any better.
  21. this wasn't me, but it is nice to know there is at least one other sox fan in the state somewhere. it seems like there is always a good amount of sox fans at the games there. one year we sat next to some sox fans and got a good magglio chant going.
  22. mostly twins fans here, then probably cubs and yankees then maybe st. louis. not too many sox fans around.
  23. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) And a guy with the greatest baseball name ever - Stubby Clapp - plays for Canada. stubby played in the northern league last year for one of the canadian teams. i always laughed everytime he was at bat
