  1. QUOTE (The Beast @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 01:14 AM) I'm glad they fined him---he was being a whine-y b****. No, he's stepping in for the players who were upset, taking the pressure off of them. If you don't argue when you're getting screwed by the umps, you'll just continue to get screwed. At least he brought some attention to it. This guy knows he's going to be under the microscope, and better be even with his calls.
  2. Fick was on tv showing him being escorted out, yelling at the crowd, when all of a sudden a full beer hit him in the face. It was awesome, and the best $4.50 or whatever that guy probably ever spent a beer on in his life.
  3. QUOTE(ChiSox1323 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) i got these in the white sox wire email. i dont know if the links will work but here they are. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/player/mp_tpl.jsp...swisher_400.wmv http://mlb.mlb.com/media/player/mp_tpl.jsp...konerko_400.wmv Thanks bro - awesome!
  4. Can someone post the Swisher one?
  5. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Good to know that KW has his head lodged firmly up his ass. I'm waiting for the Masset over Wassermann selection any second now. Were we suppose to release Crede?
  6. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Mar 16, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) Inge has good defense and decent offense. plus he doesn't have any health concerns. if the Giants think Inge is the better player, they'll probably be happy to hang on to him for several years. without bonds' huge salary, the giants have some money burn. I don't think the Giants feel he is a better player, but maybe a better option for them considering they feel they could get Crede for Scott Williamson, who they've since released.
  7. With Crede's value being **** on by the Giants, anyone feel that the eventual Roberts trade will help bring Crede's value up? I mean, the Cubs are rumored to be giving a pretty respectful package for him.
  8. QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 04:08 AM) I think as long as Dye is on the team and producing he'd be playing RF, if he's healthy his defense is not that bad and he still has the arm. He's just getting a little long in the tooth so who knows how much longer he'll be around. But considering Quentin's tools I think he could play RF no problem, it was just an assumption I made when he came to the Sox. I totally believe that's where he ends up after next year. If he's ready for it, I don't see the Sox picking up Dye's option, but rather riding out this year and next.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 02:14 AM) Why not? This would be the perfect time to trade him before we cant unload him at all when the 10 and 5 rights kick in. I liked that idea when people were tossing names like Kendrick and Kotchman around. With the Mets trading their highest ranked players, you have to wonder what they could realistically give up. The Yankees have some talent, but since the new Steinbrener has taken over... the man's a loon. I don't think we'd get what we needed unless the Angels stepped up a package, and I think they are liking the guys they got.
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 04:20 PM) In 05 we won because of great pitching and an offense that got hot at the very end of the year. Outside of that in 05 the offense was bad. In the first part of 06 we hit the crap out of the ball, and in the 2nd part of 06 Pods was lost in groin-injurville. In 06 we had a good offense because Thome and company were crushing the ball and hitting everything. Not because Pods was stealing bases. 05 offense moved runners to score, and often were able to score early in games, allowing the pitching staff to be in a position of strength when on the mound.
  11. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 01:22 AM) Maybe he doesn't want to come here. He'd have to really not want to if he's willing to risk his major league career for it.
  12. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 11:53 PM) I say trade him if possible. I'd rather have Owens as a 4th outfielder mainly because he has a lot more speed than Anderson does. Exactly, we shouldn't be debating the better player, but rather the better fit.
  13. QUOTE(Allsox @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) A .324 OBP is terrible for a leadoff hitter, which is what Owens is expected to be. Plus, his defense is just meh with no arm to speak of. I'm not all pro Owens, but his minor league numbers suggests his potential is better than this. Whether it happens next year or not is yet to be determined, but if I were to bet on who would produce a better OBP, I would be laying it on Owens.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) 27 combined AB Ya, and if you add in their career major league numbers on top of it.
  15. QUOTE(KevinM @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Cause BA is better suited to be a 4th OF and Owens is better suited to run track. As of now, Owens has proved himself the superior hitter. I wish Anderson proves himself better, but to this point he has not.
  16. QUOTE(kwolf68 @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) Id kill for BA to actually develop into a .270+ hitter with 20 homers, 10-20 sbs...with his defense he'd be killer just by being an average hitter. Kind of like a Tori Hunter mold. With our team's makeup and outfield depth, even this probably wouldn't make him a starter. In 06 and 07 it would have awesome. Now with our leadoff needs, it seems he's destined to be a 5th outfielder for us, or trade bait.
  17. Nice creativity man, I can appreciate the effort for sure.
  18. QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Feb 23, 2008 -> 05:30 AM) Thats why I said it's a win-win situation, because if he isn't healthy, we don't throw away a ton of money, but if he is we can have a solid starter. And yes I know he didn't even hit 90MPH a few weeks ago in the Dominican Winter League. The Sox agree with you, they've tried to sign him to a cheap deal, but the non guarantee of a rotation spot has left him to keep looking.
  19. Player I'm most excited about is Swish, best value IMO was Quentin, and I know it's not popular, but I'm glad we have Uribe in the mix. Whether it's second base, or back to a utility role, I think we will be glad we have him, if nothing more than for depth. Plus his comments were right on the money of what I wanted to hear. I'm optimistic with his attitude staying positive.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 05:31 AM) Well apparently, they were spot on with the White Sox last year. I don't quite remember what their projections for us were. Not so much in 05 though...
  21. Supposedly Boras refused to negotiate with Crede's intention to test the market. Why offer a contract when you're being told not to.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 11, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) He also fervently wastes tax payers time and money, but thats another story.... Thank you, it needed to be said.
  23. Anyone see that Quentin is only 80-85% right now. Not worried, but that could come into play for the start of the season. Most people have him penciled in, but we may more realistically start with: Owens CF Cabrera SS Swisher LF Thome DH Konerko 1st Dye RF AJ C Fields 3rd Richar 2nd
  24. Maybe the Sox pick up Lowry to spin off to an NL team in a separate trade?
  25. Keeping Mac makes sense to me, and I think he will rebound. I'm willing to gamble his trade value by opening the season with him in MR. I think he'll produce and get some hitters out this year, refocused.
