Not to make a thread on every player put on waivers, but this seems plausible considering he can play multiple positions. .261/.335/.458 batting line, 18 home runs and 60 RBI in 391 at-bats

QUOTE (Real @ Jul 20, 2010 -> 11:49 PM) I keep thinking, who is our 5th starter going to be for the rest of the year, and who's to say Peavy is fully healthy next year? Sorry, I just like Hudson a lot, even more than I did BMac I hope so, BMac's a bust

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 07:26 AM) He mentions he gets along with Greg Walker and they sometimes mention hitting issues to eah other. Anyone think he will ever be a hitting coach of any kind for the team? Minor Leagues or the Bigs? Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking

I have always liked Guillen, and hope he is able to leave after a long managerial career with the Sox. His first Sox Fest, at the very end, after the last seminar, he impressed the hell out of me. KW and everyone had left the room after signing a few autographs. Guillen stayed the entire time, and I mean the entire time. I got a couple balls autographed and my picture taken with him. All but 5 people were left in the room. I couldn't believe how nice and dedicated he was to the fans. Admittedly, I was a little concerned over this last episode, but Ozzie having his son resign, and then lecturing him about respecting the Sox, and cut out this public bulls***, has me proud. Ozzie takes nothing more serious than his family, and for him to do that, took a lot. Not to mention I think he's a hell of a manager.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 02:23 AM) The White Sox have control of him for 6 seasons, just as they do any minor leaguer. That's good, thanks. I didn't realize they were part of the same rules.

Also said he switched agents to Scott Boras... By the time he gets up, who knows how long he'll be around.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) Im with you there, i want someone for the 2 hole so we can move Beckham to the 3 spot. I wouldn't move Quentin out of the three hole

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 01:23 AM) http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...n-decision.html All signs seem to be pointing to Detroit, especially with AJP bringing up the Spring Training location issue. At this point, I just want a decision. I still think Blalock could be a cheaper, and potentially better option. I like Blalock next year in the Cell, I think he bounces back.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) I am sure this has made the rounds to the White Sox front office, and I gotta imagine they are livid. Not the fact that he is drunk but the fact that he is drunk at Soxfest where he is supposed to be representing the Sox in a positive image. Maybe, but a lot of the players come down and drink with the fans. I think it's great.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?

QUOTE (Ozzie's Accent @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) I could see him batting 3rd for us as you have above. Especially with Ozzie's love of flip flopping the lefties and righties. The one exra left handed hitter does make it much more balanced. Actually a pretty solid lineup... With the pitching, I think we would have to be the favorites for the division. -
QUOTE (monomach @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 01:35 AM) There are tons of options better than .330. Every time you bring up names, you bring up fast guys. The speed is irrelevant as long as it's not as slow as Konerko. -We could have signed Orlando Hudson for a slightly higher obp and way more power. -We could have signed Felipe Lopez who has been better at everything. -Even Doug Mientkiewicz as a FA would have been better. -We could have signed a middle of the order type and moved Gordon Beckham to leadoff. While that would have been suboptimal, it still would have been better. Now as far as trade options go, there are tons who are better than Juan Pierre. For example, we could have picked up BJ Upton after his down year. Pretty much every metric agrees that he's going to rebound. Even he attributes it to his offseason shoulder surgery not being completely healed. Even now that we have Pierre, we'd be better off just signing a slugger for the middle of the order and putting Beckham at leadoff. Pierre belongs in the 7-9 spot, no matter how fast he is (in reality, it's more WAS than IS). U lost me at Mientkiewicz

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 12, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) The White Sox are going to have to score runs. I understand Beckham will be around a little longer. Its hoped Quentin comes back strong. Its also hoped Rios returns to what he was in 2006-7 and that the past couple seasons were offensive flukes for Teahan. The offense was ranked near the bottom. A lot of the production, Thome, Dye the first half of the year, Pods, are gone. Replacing them with guys like Gardner and Andruw Jones even if a couple of the things we are hoping for come true isn't going to make the White Sox an offensive juggernaut. As I have posted, Gardner wouldn't be a bad guy to have on the roster, but to say he's the regular CF and leadoff hitter is just asking for dissappointment. If he was that guy, NY wouldn't give up the players they did and pay Granderson what they will have to pay if they thought he would be as good as this board thinks he will be. He's a 4th or 5th OF. It's not like the Yankees have never been wrong.

QUOTE (KevinM @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) Talented enough to play MLB? Yes. One is talented enough to be a perennial .900 OPS guy with a few 1.000 OPS years mixed in. The other is talented enough to be a great defensive CF with good speed and a mediocre bat. There's a big difference. The point is, to a team, they both have value with their different style of play. That's all that was said.
-
QUOTE (KevinM @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) Your analogy ignores the gulf of talent disparity. Both are talented, they have different games.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 03:15 AM) I figure Gardner is about the level of Willie Harris offensively with less power, but makes more contact. He might get on a little more. Fine for the bench, but the ignitor of your offense, you won't have a top of the line offense. He's worth acquiring as long as you don't put too much on him. How do you have less power than Willie Harris?
-
Could be a real good thing, considering not only his bat, but the fact they would bring in a lot of revenue from the Japanese fan base.

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) Yesterday, I found an old article in the Sun Times. The Sox scoreboard directions supervisor said the bottles were produced in the late 1910's and early 1920's during prohibition. Apparently, the Sox were the first ever to produce orange soda. Thanks for trying to confirm this for me. Orange pop?! Even prouder to be a Sox fan, awesome!

I think we'd be very lucky to have him as a DH, really balances the lineup.

Greg Walker Admits Any Other Team Would Have Fired Him

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 31, 2009 -> 04:02 AM) I will predict the hiring of McGwire will be a disaster. How many zillionaires actually work hard as coaches on MLB staffs? I would love to see a study on this vs. how many assistant coaches need the money. McGwire must be awfully bored to take any position excpt 1B or 3B coach. Maybe he's motivated to manage some day... He would take it pretty serious if that were the case. -
Who should the Sox trade for this winter?
SkokieSox replied to GreatScott82's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 27, 2009 -> 04:53 PM) If we were looking at RF's to replace Dye, Hunter Pence would be one I'd at least inquire about. He wouldn't be cheap, but the Stros don't exactly have a lot of talent in their farm system either. I just don't see them trading him, but what a great fit for us. Some pop, fast, good D, and can hit leadoff. -
Confirmed: White Sox claim on Alex Rios on waivers

QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 12:44 AM) Doesn't sound like we are getting him. Maybe not, but KW never deals his hand until the t's are crossed. -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) Muscle atrophy is a lot worse than many people think. One of my colleagues tore his ACL skiing earlier this year. Right after he went off crutches, he showed me the size difference of his calves, and I was shocked. The calf below the torn knee was only about 2/3 the size of the other. I'm sure that Peavy has less ground to make up, but rebuilding muscle in his legs is an absolute must before he starts a major league game. Ya, but we're only talking about a month with the boot I believe. And the muscle memory kicks in pretty quickly anyway.

Black Jack McDowell on tonight's loss and closers
SkokieSox replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:38 AM) Still, does that make him a dickhead? Considering McDowell has been around different managers and clubhouses before, he knows a thing or two more than us about the way coaches think. I'm not saying he's right, but he's not a dickhead for saying it how he sees it. When you're opinion is directly criticizing a person's intention, in this case, saying Ozzie is a scared little b**** and doesn't have the balls to do "the right thing", yes, I feel fine saying he's a dick head. If his opinion was that Ozzie doesn't know what the "right thing" is, fine, have your opinion on it. He's not criticizing his intelligence on the matter, he's saying he knows better and doesn't have the guts to do it. He assumes way too much, including what is "right." I think people on here who criticize Ozzie, which I respect their opinion on or at least their right to do so, at least will admit that Ozzie isn't fearful. Black Jack was a great pitcher, but you can tell he has some bitterness about something here with Ozzie. Conclusion - dick head -

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:27 AM) He's a dickhead for calling out Ozzie? He's calling it as he sees it. You disagree with him, fine. But he I don't see how this makes him a dickhead. Many posters on here have called out Ozzie in the past, does that make them dickheads as well? Yes
