QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) Nobody's overreacting. Timo hasn't been clutch this year and he's been hurting the team consistantly, whereas Harris has been batting well, getting walks, and providing good speed off of the bench (and he can also play the IF and OF well). Timo can't even play defense well. Timo has been clutch, and as far as his defense is concerned, the guy can't first base. So what. That's why we need Gload.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) He must have forgottten when Timo couldn't hit a sac fly with a man on 3rd earlier in the season. He just remembers Monday's game. Maybe you were missing last year, but Timo was on the team and he certainly provided clutch hitting.
-
Timo has provided some solid clutch hitting with his time on the club. I think many of you are overreacting. Besides, with Iguchi on the team, it's still likely that Harris will get dealt at some point.

I like the new Rowand commercial.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:21 PM) I'm with you...I'm a huge FRank fan and want him as our DH...but for less money,so we can put other players around him and win. I would love to see Frank get a ring...here! I hope and believe he wants that more than anything right now as well.

Allow me to open a big, fat can of worms.

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) I think it's an interesting debate, that's all. Lee is having a mammoth season, Ramirez is certainly a better 3b option than Crede, Nomar is a seriously SS upgrade, Walker is a good offensive 2b, and the Starters are really close comparitively. Their defense up the middle is weak with those guys. That's surely worth considering knowing we've won many games from our defense. -
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) That is, if Frank will accept a reduced contract. He may be getting tired of the BS. I like Frank, and would definitely want him back next year. Not at $10 mill though, that would be BS.

Bobby Jenks a bullpen possibility for this season?
SkokieSox replied to Jabroni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the only thing limiting this guy's potential is his own demons, which I feel will be less of a factor as he matures more. With our closer problems in the past, how great would it be to have a dominant one waiting in the minors. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) Erubiel Durazo is an option. He would mash at the Cell too.

QUOTE(Al Lopez's Ghost @ May 10, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) The Royals don't qualify as an easy team? Not only that, but we just won 8 straight. It's not like the D-Rays suck. They're a scrappy team, and they played well yesterday.

With no second round pick, I wonder if that frees a little money, making our first round pick less of a risk, signability wise. I would still prefer not to pick a Boras client, but again, it would be nice to be able to pick the best talent available in that spot.

As PK would say, lets take each individual game for what its worth.

Good for KW. He's always responded well when dip s***s throw some garbage rants in his face. On a side note, I would like to sit and have a couple with Ozzie, lol. For PR purposes, I can understand why KW didn't think it was such a hot idea.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 7, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) No one is saying an 85 pitch count. But was there really a reason that El Duque came out for the seventh last night, other than to have a chance at the win? He was at 99 or 100 pitches, and it's not like our bullpen was worked to death the past couple nights. It helped us last night, but down the road, it's gonna bite us in the ass. And, this isn't the first time that this has happened. He went one inning too long last game, too, and that resulted in a pitch count at or over 110. This isn't Mark Buehrle or Livan Hernandez were talking about. El Duque pitched a fine game -- not great, but good enough, going six strong and giving up three. There really was no need for him to go out in the seventh... It's also important to note that, as much as we'll need El Duque down the stretch, we'll need a fresh pen as well. Last year, we were forced to overwork our pen. This year, so far, we haven't needed to. As a result, I feel that translates to a major part of the pen's success this year, and will continue going forward. The less we need the pen in the early part of games, the more dominant they'll be in the latter portion.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ May 7, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) But we're talking about a 40 yr old here, your playing with fire if you think he can be used like a 30 yr old. His arm now has been "hardened up", now they need to dial it back some to make it last. No one is holding Clemens back, and I'm not talking about a talent level comparison. True, Clemens doesn't have the injury history, but El Duque is healthy. If he gets hurt, he's going to get hurt. We don't have the luxury to have that guy go out and have an 85 pitch count. It's not his game. Holding him back may keep him healthy, but if we're limiting his pitch count and taking him out of his element, well, we'll be playing with fire.
-
El Duque has been hurt, but prior to his signing, he was said to have one of the cleaner looking arms KW has seen. Isn't it possible that his last surgery and proper rehab has made his arm what it used to be, when he was throwing 130+ pitch counts in Cuba. As it has been pointed out, the more you throw, the stronger you get. If he indeed is healthy, I don't see why he can't throw 115 pitches a game, granted not every game, but enough to not be overly concerned. Guys use to do it all the time back in the day, and Hernandez is part of that mold IMO.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:54 AM) Yeah, he went to my high school and attended Northwestern so he must have been the rarity being a Sox fan in a northern suburb. There are a few of us.

QUOTE(SoufSideHitMen @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) I think we should leave are bullpen the way it is, although now that batters are seeing more of shingo he is starting to struggle Slow start, no doubt. However, I think he is improving. I don't want to trade him for a slow start, he still has considerable value to this team, not to mention his marketing value. If we trade a pen arm to the Cubs, I'm certain it won't be someone on the 25 man roster.

QUOTE(thelatinoheat_30 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) i'd send down ross, he hasn't been playin too good. i'm out Part of the reason is because he hasn't been playing.

HELL YA! -
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:44 PM) Ozzie shouldn't be canned. Sorry Steff, that's completely ludicrous. Absolutely, he shouldn't be fired. The guy has set the tone for a winning ball club. So he says what's on his mind, those same people who criticize him for it, ignore that Thomas does the exact same. Thomas can do it too. However, one of the main reasons we have this type of ball club is because Ozzie and KW are on the same page of what it takes to win. So far so good.
