  1. I think a trade or two would have to occur, to possibly boster the pen slightly, but I would say it would be successful.
  2. No one will sign him before Dec.7, because the Sox will steal there pick in the draft. Which is also probably why Boras won't show us the medical records.
  3. Good point, not to mention that we are out are DH for the beginning of the season.
  4. I think Rowand has earned the right to be an everyday player next year.
  5. They want to trim payroll. Besides, it's almost as if Leo can turn junk into gold.
  6. Everyone's ERA inflates at the Cell, including opposing pitchers.
  7. Agreed. The question would then be, is it worth it to send PK to AZ for Vazquez (assuming they'd do it). I say yes, as long as some of the cash comes along with Vazquez to offset his inflated Yankee contract.
  8. Andy Sisco of the Chicago Cubs is to be risked in the Rule 5 draft. He's a 6' 9" lefty who can throw 90-93, but up to 95. He's a starter who still needs a little polish, but is a former second round draft pick with some real good upside. Cub's fans have been talking all year about how their pitching prospects are the best around, and all have included this guy as part of their reasoning. Not that Cub's fans know what the hell they are talking about, but this guy sounds like someone to take a risk on. Supposedly the Cubs are under the assumption that no one will keep the guy on their roster all year long. However, if we choose to give him back, a $25,000 gamble doesn't seem inappropriate to me.
  9. So the Yanks get Johnson over us, big deal. If we can somehow be the team that gets Javier Vazquez, with a little money thrown our way, and deal PK to AZ and possibly someone else, I would be happy. This guy has some talent, and would fit nicely in our rotation. Probably even better than Johnson when considering youth, potential, and years signed. per rotoworld: Javier Vazquez - S - NYY While speculation is that the Yankees would like to pull a Thanksgiving Day deal of their own this season, a Randy Johnson trade isn't likely to be completed this week. The rumors started heating up yesterday, with sources telling the Boston Herald a deal could be done as soon as today. However, there are still major roadblocks to be overcome. The biggest involves the frightening possibility for Arizona that Javier Vazquez would demand a trade next winter, as would be his right after being dealt while in the middle of a multiyear deal. The Yankees may have to get a third team involved if they want to use Vazquez to acquire Johnson. Since Yankees GM Brian Cashman is scheduled to spend the next five days at Disney World, it's unlikely that anything will get done soon. Nov. 25 - 3:08 am et
  10. Fan favorite? He played a third of a season. They wanted someone to build around, and PK could serve that role as well.
  11. Possibly a new GM, but I doubt Ozzie would be cut loose. He actually probably would be better with a young team that he can mold into his image.
  12. Did they do away with arbitration?
  13. I agree, but if Ichiro and Matsui can become ROY candidates, then Takatsu should be as well.
  14. I don't think KW has a fasicination of Crede in that sense. The fact is Crede showed signs that he had talent in the minors, but hasn't been able to translate that into success in the majors. Defensively he's sound. Right now though, we don't have a lot of viable options. Crede is in a situation where we need to give him another year. Why? Because Josh Fields has an ETA of 2006, ruling out locking up a more expensive option that would require a contract of 2 or more years. Crede can be a serviceable third baseman, and may be able to get us something in return when it is time for Fields to take over.
  15. What makes everyone think Polanco is even available? And if we are able to get him, how much more would it take to get him than Vizquel. It's fine if people would rather have him, but there are circumstances to consider.
  16. There's no way the Yankees do that. Posada in particular isn't going anywhere.
  17. Let me rephrase then. The Sox won't trade Lee, Garland, and prospects for RJ.
  18. I think that's an over estimation of what it would if take IMO. And if it did take Lee, Garland, and prospect, we would probably get more in return than Johnson.
  19. :rolly And if the Twins said it wasn't true, well I guess that's good enough for you anyhow. :rolly
  20. Nothing like a small sample size to try to prove a point. :rolly
  21. When you have several other teams in the bidding, the price goes up. That's business 101.
  22. Well I guess that's where we differ. I think KW does a good job.
  23. Either way, money will be spent this offseason apparently, which is pretty positive in and of itself. Who's excited?
