Ya Reed isn't batting .400 right now, but neither is Patterson. If you want to use Borchard, fine, I would rather call up Borchard than trade for Patterson. Patterson can be a good player, and the Cubs know it. They aren't going to trade him, and if they did, he wouldn't come cheap. Hence, call up one of our own guys.

I'd sooner call up Reed to play CF.

You know it's great if you can make them cry like that. :fthecubs

Ya it's a conspiracy. The Sox want to sell less beer. Screw the revenue, that'll show us. Nothing to do with everyone complaining about the drunken fighting.

What about Harold's job?
-
Already signed for $850,000 bonus, and also free college should he choose to go.
-
That's exactly it, his signability was in question. Being a 13th rounder pretty much solidifies him not signing.

It's that aggressiveness that has allowed us to score more runs than last year. Sometimes you get gunned down, and sometimes you manufacture runs. Even if statiscally it was a wash, at least you keep the pressure on the defense, which is always a good thing. A lot of times it forces pitchers to pitch more fastballs, which is good for our hitters.
-
Schoney did fall behind some hitters, but he pitched well otherwise. The difference in the game from my point of view is when Alomar called for an inside fastball when it was obvious Boone was trying to pull all of his pitches. The announcers even said something about that right before Alomar set up inside. I like Alomar, but that was careless IMO. Let's get em tomorrow.

Frank has already been hitting in the three hole with Maggs out. Lee is in the four spot.

Danny Wright is two years removed from being a 14 game winner. Not saying this guy sucks, because he shut us down, but what you did three years ago isn't necessarily an indication that you'll be good now. And as another poster pointed out Ozzie saying, if Tampa Bay doesn't want you, well you know the rest.
-
Although I too don't think they would be right behind us in the division, I'd just assume not face them too often.

I don't know about the best power bat, but they'll certainly miss him.

Whole issue of Maggs now nags at the Sox

Greg Couch is worthless. -
Dransfeldt has already helped us win when he was called up originally. Burke provides us with more options at third and at catcher, allowing for more pinch hitting with the left handed bats. Reed and Borchard aren't being called up because they don't want to waste an option on them for temporary play, as well as because Borchard is nursing his own injury. It's not a bad move IMO. Also, we have plenty of outfielders on the bench, and when we need a fifth starter to be called up, we will need another infielder for depth as opposed to more outfielders.
-
Not when long term is with another team. However, point taken that we need him healthy for the playoff push and playoffs themselves.

It's been officially recognized by the Chicago media. It was played on channel 7 news.

I definitely agree.

No I know, I wasn't trying to be an attacker. EDIT- As I said, it wasn't far-fetched, that's for sure. However, I want to believe that we are turning a corner, and that things (including deals) will be dealt with better than in the past. I have to believe that because they have me by the balls, I'm a fan for life.
-
True, if they are only ticket holders because of Maggs, then the Sox have more problems than some have thought. I for one, want whats best for the team. I want to keep Maggs, but it is up to him at this point IMO. I wouldn't offer more than that as it is a very fair offer, again IMO. If the Sox are upfront with the fans and utilize the money wisely, and it is not used as savings, I believe most fans will appreciate that. If we can use the money to attract a big name player, like a Beltran or Nomar (not saying that's a realistic option or not, just drawing a comparison) then I feel many people will at least see the Sox do want to win, especially if we do well this season. We'll see I guess.
-
No one knows that to be the case for sure or not. However, the point is not far-fetched. What comes into play then, does he care enough about the Sox to want to stay. If the only home town discount he is asking to take is to have some of the money deferred, and he refuses, well then we can assume he just doesn't want to be here. As disappointing as that may be, I am willing to say goodbye in order to spend the money for people who really want to be here. And before the pessimism overcomes some of our posters, there are people who will want to play here.
-
That changed when he started negotiations. He said that he wanted to stay here, and if we offered a fair deal he would be inclined to take it. As you pointed out, we don't know all the terms of the deal, but if the only snag is deferred money, that's a problem on Magg's part IMO.

I prefer Garcia over all. I'm encouraged that KW did all he could to get it done sooner rather than later as testiment to Ozzie himself, who sat with him for 2 hours while KW worked the phones. Although I'm sure something could have been done if we were willing to pay any price, but I'm encouraged that KW didn't put us in a bad spot by giving a team just whatever they wanted. Overpaying is one thing, getting completely ripped off is another. At least that didn't happen, I would rather have Rauch see what he can do than have us do that in the short term.

Even if we had Ginter, we have better options.
