  1. Sullivan didn't fair much better with 2/3 of an inning giving up three runs. Although his arm didn't fall off in the process either.
  2. But they are going to win the division

First of all, I never said he should replace Frank Thomas. Maybe PK down the line if his contract becomes a nuisance or a new deal can't be done. However, just because ball clubs haven't given him the at bats, doesn't mean he didn't do enough to earn a chance. He simply didn't get one. Now he is, and he is playing well. I think he can be a major league first baseman. Remember, KW has done a pretty good job seeing talent where others missed it. Maybe you're right, but I think the guy has done enough to prove he deserves a regular opportunity to play. At the very least, he is a pretty solid off the bench guy who can play multiple positions.

The reason he didn't do so well in the majors was because he was developing and only given sparatic at bats. The reason other clubs passed him up, being the Cubs and Rockies, was because they had other stud first basemen in front of him. There isn't a DH in NL obviously which adds to the difficulty in breaking into the majors. And another flaw with your reasoning is why should we give a s*** why he didn't pan out for other clubs. Uribe sucked at Colorado, but it doesn't seem to be affecting his great performance with us. Same scenerio with Gload. He's playing well with us, and that ultimately is the only thing that matters.

There is no reason to believe he's a fluke, he has had a great minor league career thus far, despite what you say, and has been playing very well for us. There is no need to bring your pessimism to the table over every issue.
  6. A better question is why do we feel we need him? Is Reed moving up in the world. Probably not yet, but maybe this guy will replace him for the AAA squad when he does.

I agree that having Frank back helps our team. However, I wouldn't suggest Gload is a fluke because he capitalized on pitcher's mistakes. What makes you think he can't adjust? This guy can hit, and he's proved it over his years in the minors. The fact that he is doing it at this level only emphasizes what kind of hitter he is. He's legit.
  8. On the score, some reporter said Ozzie started the press conference by saying, "See, I told you I could manage." Referring to leaving Marte in for Travis Lee instead of Koch and Giambi. Everyone thought it was funny, and I thought it was too. Go Ozzie.
  9. I like that better. Hankins may become a very good catcher to backup Olivo in the future, but also adds to his make up with the versatility of playing several other positions. An ultra utility man if you will.
  10. Maybe Schoney thought that guy would be Tony Clark tonight.
  11. Your friend is correct.

    Kicking ass in the minors.

This guy is a supposed superior defensive first baseman who can really pick the ball. He might end up replacing PK at some point. He is considered short for a first baseman, which has kept him from being a full time starter elsewhere. However, I don't think that is going to be as much of a problem as some think. With that said, I have no qualms about hanging to PK, although if his contract becomes a concern, Gload seems to be a good consideration to replace him. Good amount of speed for a first baseman too.
  14. That's a little unfair, but he did swing at some pretty poor pitches. He probably could have walked all night.
  15. I wouldn't look at it as a sign of anything. The guy has ace stuff on a $200 million dollar team. He's good, nothing else to say. Tip your cap and be thankful we won't have to face him throughout the regular season anymore.
  16. Nothing, but he was basically saying we should give him a blank check, and there is something wrong with that.
  17. That's good stuff.
  18. I think getting them out of that Metro Dome helps every team that plays them. I understand the point about extra revenue, but it comes down to wins and losses. and that place has got to be the biggest home field advantage in baseball. Especially with their secret weapon (air conditioning for the opposing team.)

Speaking of the Cubs game, did you see that pitch they rung up Larue on. That was biggest load of s*** I've ever seen.
  20. Colonn could pitch a two run complete game and we could lose too.
  21. No it is today. It's the day before the game at noon.
  22. They work out together during the offseason.
  23. I would rather have Pierre, but he isn't a bad one to have.
  24. I agree, I think his arm overrates his defensive comparison to Maggs who shows a little of range and also flashes the leather quite well.
