  1. Exactly, and his defense is great as well. It's a no lose situation adding him to the club. Plus he's friends with Maggs. Not that, that will entice either to sign, but the comfort will be there to play well.
  2. That was just the most important pitch he got squeezed on. The ump was terrible.
  3. It was on WSI. I didn't hear it first hand, but supposedly it was said in the post game by Levine.

I agree. Besides, the way we've been drafting, I wouldn't mind the picks at all. Especially with the benefit of going for it all this year. We may lose some of our farm in trying to acquire good talent for a WS run, so the draft picks may very well be needed.
  5. Supposedly, Contreras would have been payed for mostly by the Yanks and the Sox were going to use him as a closer.
  6. I don't remember anyone giving a s*** when the move happened. Why complain now. We have other prospects that were better options than Ginter, and don't forget he moved to another league. Let's see if he keeps it up, and even if he does, that doesn't mean he would for us. People, stop complaining just to hear yourselves talk.
  7. Shingo is due $2.5 million next year.
  8. That has paid off more than it has hurt us. You should have watched the game, even tough it was depressing, you would at least see the events unfold. It's real easy to say 8 runs given up, Ozzie's an idiot, but that's not the case.
  9. Ya Reed isn't batting .400 right now, but neither is Patterson. If you want to use Borchard, fine, I would rather call up Borchard than trade for Patterson. Patterson can be a good player, and the Cubs know it. They aren't going to trade him, and if they did, he wouldn't come cheap. Hence, call up one of our own guys.
  10. I'd sooner call up Reed to play CF.

  12. You know it's great if you can make them cry like that. :fthecubs
  13. Ya it's a conspiracy. The Sox want to sell less beer. Screw the revenue, that'll show us. Nothing to do with everyone complaining about the drunken fighting.
  14. What about Harold's job?
  15. Already signed for $850,000 bonus, and also free college should he choose to go.
  16. That's exactly it, his signability was in question. Being a 13th rounder pretty much solidifies him not signing.
  17. It's that aggressiveness that has allowed us to score more runs than last year. Sometimes you get gunned down, and sometimes you manufacture runs. Even if statiscally it was a wash, at least you keep the pressure on the defense, which is always a good thing. A lot of times it forces pitchers to pitch more fastballs, which is good for our hitters.
  18. Schoney did fall behind some hitters, but he pitched well otherwise. The difference in the game from my point of view is when Alomar called for an inside fastball when it was obvious Boone was trying to pull all of his pitches. The announcers even said something about that right before Alomar set up inside. I like Alomar, but that was careless IMO. Let's get em tomorrow.
  19. Frank has already been hitting in the three hole with Maggs out. Lee is in the four spot.
  20. Danny Wright is two years removed from being a 14 game winner. Not saying this guy sucks, because he shut us down, but what you did three years ago isn't necessarily an indication that you'll be good now. And as another poster pointed out Ozzie saying, if Tampa Bay doesn't want you, well you know the rest.
  21. Although I too don't think they would be right behind us in the division, I'd just assume not face them too often.
  22. I don't know about the best power bat, but they'll certainly miss him.
  23. Dransfeldt has already helped us win when he was called up originally. Burke provides us with more options at third and at catcher, allowing for more pinch hitting with the left handed bats. Reed and Borchard aren't being called up because they don't want to waste an option on them for temporary play, as well as because Borchard is nursing his own injury. It's not a bad move IMO. Also, we have plenty of outfielders on the bench, and when we need a fifth starter to be called up, we will need another infielder for depth as opposed to more outfielders.
  24. Not when long term is with another team. However, point taken that we need him healthy for the playoff push and playoffs themselves.
