  1. Mediocre hitting catcher, not catcher. He calls a good game, and has been solid behind the plate overall.
  2. Fine, but are 5 of their players having better years than all of our players? I don't think so. No one is blaming Westbrook, good for him. It's just that we got screwed big time, and it's BS.
  3. He didn't tear into him, he just said that Torre didn't do a very good job of picking the players.
  4. Torre is full of s***. I'm glad Hawk called him out yesterday. The All Star process needs to be totally revamped. Hey Torre! :fyou
  5. Plus, they didn't want to ruin Reed's trade value if he did become a bust, or at least didn't fair well in his first call up. Many feel it is unlikely, but it is possible.
  6. I just assume use Borchard if we had Pavano, Buerhle, Garcia, and probably Garland if he's extended. Cotts could be a fifth starter possibly, or maybe we would even get someone else. Either way, I would say goodbye to Maggs for Pavano.
  7. You're right it does, but it appears Maggs is the one not tangoing. He has an offer on the table, a good offer, but he wants to move on. That's fine, I'm not mad about it. However, it makes me not give a s*** how he feels about Garcia being signed.
  8. Maybe Maggs should take a page from Garcia's book. That's how you get a contract, you negotiate with your team, and accept realistic deals. Unless of course he has decided to leave already, which appears to be the case. I'm fine with signing the guy who wants to be here, especially a real good pitcher.
  9. I've already been dreaming about that. Him, Garcia, Buerhle, Mulder the next year , and Garland as the fifth guy. That would be something, but like I said, it's probably just a dream.
  10. I understand your frustration, I was upset with the move initially as well. I don't think they were just flat out underestimating what Reed can do, KW had a real hard time okaying this trade. It really just boiled down to winning now. We have a window now with Maggs on the team. This is the year to go for it. I think our club will remain competitve throughout the future, but how many times are we going to have a chance at being in a WS. This may be it for a while for all we know, with the talent there. We may not get there, and probability is likely against us, but personally, I would rather know for sure. With our outfield depth and the likelihood of extending Garcia, I certainly understand the move. I don't think anyone here would not want Reed back, but I do understand the move. For better or worse.
  11. How did they treat Reed poorly? He will have a better opportunity to play next year, and maybe this year in a beautiful fan friendly park. He's going to love it there, and I bet after getting over the shock of it, is probably just fine with the move and anxious to get into the bigs. This move didn't hurt his career in the least.
  12. He's certainly not below average. His aggressiveness is a good attribute, which is one the reasons Rowand is a good fielder. However, he's not going to be a Beltran or Hunter in CF, and if his arm continues to be average, right field may not be a real good choice either IMO. To me, it sounds like he would be a real good left fielder, maybe like a Shannon Stewart.
  13. Reed runs well and has a natural aggressiveness that allows him to stretch hits into an extra base. He has become an average center fielder and should get better with more experience there. His arm is average, and he could possibly play right field if he can’t stick in center. From Baseball America.
  14. Figuring Shingo out? He faced the Cubs twice. This is ridiculous. Shingo has been a hell of a pitcher all year for us, except in the very beginning. Tonight he didn't throw strikes when they counted, and got behind in the count against Alou. Much of his success has been due to getting ahead of hitters and making them commit to his change, or at least respect it more, which he usually throws for strikes as well, but not tonight. I'm not ragging on him, it happens. I'm not prepared to use tonight as an example of his downfall. He just didn't throw strikes tonight and it cost him. P.S. Torre is a complete f***ing moron.
  15. I think it's less of the Twins won't lose as much as the Diamondbacks just can't win. Hopefully today is a different story.
  16. It's all speculation. I seriously doubt KW has any interest in this, unless we have a pending deal with Jose for a another pitcher. I don't think that's the case, but the only scenerio where I could see a deal going down this.
  17. Why not? If that's the best we think we can do without hindering our competitiveness in the future, then that's what you offer. I don't think he should make Vlad money, even if we could afford it. The contract is fair, and really boils down to whether Maggs wants to stay. My guess is he doesn't, but a fair offer is on the table for if he changes his mind. I don't have a problem with that. Take it or leave it Maggs. With Garcia extended most likely, I would be fine with Borchard in right and another top line pitcher.
  18. I'm glad he missed you, and the fact that he got was coming to him while not injuring you, it was well worth it from my perspective. Guys like that deserve to be taken down and arrested hopefully. As you said though, no one will publish anything in regards to an incident like that, unless of course if you were the Cubs fan.
  19. Since when did Joe Girardi join the Army? JK, hell of a picture. Really funny.
  20. Over Garland? I don't think so. Schoney did well early on, and I hope he is striving to get back to that, but ease off on the attitude. He doesn't need to b**** just yet. If we feel he would be better out of the pen, then I say do it. If he's going to be a pansy about it, then trade him. I bet the Yankees would be interested. They want a lefty starter, and with a million dollar price tag, is worth the risk, even if they are after someone else.
  21. Although the consecutive games are concerning, it's why you have depth and keep them fresh all season as Ozzie has. If we can gain a comfortable lead in the division, our bench can step in and give our guys the rest they need down the stretch.
  22. He had this before too I believe. Maybe during ST? I'm pretty sure he had them. Not serious, just painful, as was stated.
  23. If they pay enough of his contract, say average about $6 million a year we owe him for the duration, that would be worth it. Depending on who we give up to make that happen, it would potentially be a very good move. And it's possible Jose Mesa could be part of a deal as well.
  24. We have a $2.5 million dollar option on him for next year. Besides, as much of a schmuck Boras is, the decision is ultimately Shingo's. He may decide he likes it here, for many of the same reasons he chose Chicago in the first place. Boras will try to get him as much as possible, but you never know. Shingo seems to really like it here so far.
