QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 03:01 AM) How good would this team be? 1. Lillibridge LF 2. Ramirez SS 3. Quentin RF 4. Konerko 1B 5. Young CF 6. Allen DH 7. Pierzynski C 8. Beckham 2B 9. Morel 3B 1. Buehrle 2. Danks 3. Floyd 4. Hudson 5. Gio CL Santos Assuming that Young, Hudson and Gio became the same players with us as they have the organizations they're in right now, much better. And with those three in place, you have money to upgrade other areas. There's no Dunn and Peavy sucking up a good majority of the payroll.

Daniel Hudson just bent KW over and violated him.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 03:03 AM) I can't even begin to describe the hate I have for Rios right now. Between him and Pierre...and throw Beckham in there as well...good god. As for the Hudson topic...not to throw salt on the wound...but David Holmberg (throw in with Hudson trade) has been lights out lately for them in South Bend. Something like 27 straight scoreless innings. Their scouts are raving about him right now. KW has simply been a joke since the winter of '07. He's set this franchise back a good five years, IMO. You just knew his recklessness would come back to bite us in the ass at some point. The farm is not just supposed to be develop, build up their value, trade for old or expensive veteran whenever the chance arises. -
If Dayan Viciedo is called up before August

QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 03:00 AM) Fantastic. Make it Alexei, bottom line, bring him up. I'd like to see this: Alexei Lillibridge (whether he plays CF or 2B) CQ PK Dunn Rios AJ Morel Beckham Like I said, Lillibridge should hit second for the time being and rotate between CF and 2B. I think he could handle that. This certainly isn't a perfect scenario. But honestly, is there one with this lineup? So many guys are producing at a below replacement level offensively that even the most advanced baseball mind couldn't come up with an ideal lineup. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:43 AM) I was going to say collosal but I dont know if thats spelled right and my spell check is not giving me an option for it when I left click it.. so to save myself from looking dumb, I changed it to major.. Colossal is appropriate. I've grown tired of ripping on Pierre. He's bad. We all know this. Gordon hasn't really been thrown under the bus yet. This guy is absolutely clueless for what was supposed to be such an advanced college hitter. I'd give anything for Smoak right now.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) Oh, and I am also pretty sure I despise Beckham more than Pierre at this point.. that dude has been a major disappointment Offensively, he's been every bit as bad as Pierre. Major disappointment is an understatement.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 02:08 AM) Maybe they want to be more careful handling this guy. Frank Thomas believed Beckham was brought up too soon, maybe Sale would be better off in the minors now. Maybe they don't want to make the same mistake with Vic. Dayan has played in 279 games with 1173 PAs in the minors. Beckham played in 59 games with 259 PAs in the minors. Chris Sale pitched 10 1/3 innings in the minors. There's no comparison here. Viciedo should be up and Lillibridge should be getting 5 starts a week between CF/2B until he proves he can't handle the jump in playing time. -

QUOTE (hawkubes @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:48 AM) OK, enough already, bring up Viciedo. Beckham could lead off, or Alexei, or Rios. This is getting ridiculous, they pay the guy millions of dollars, and he does exactly what they ask of him. Bring him up to the big show and inject some life into this team. What's the worst thing that can happen? If it's all in, for god's sake, bring this guy up. Do it right now!! So frustrating. Problem is Beckham and Rios are just as bad as JP. I don't want to see either getting the most PAs. Alexei is probably the best option to leadoff at this point. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) Then how was he so successful his rookie season? Just blind luck? I'm not calling you out, but just wondering, do you think that was just a prolonged hot streak? Or has he regressed and shouldn't he be able to get those skills back at some point? Basically, the league has made adjustments to him and he's failed to adjust back. His decline is no fluke. His BB rate has gone down each year while his K rate has gone up each year. The line drive, gap power he displayed in '09 has all but vanished. He can't hit a fastball. It's like Josh Fields all over again. I'd like it more if it was just breaking and offspeed pitches he struggled with. If you can't hit a FB you need to find another line of work. -

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:08 AM) I was trying to prove my point with Jacoby Ellsbury, then I realized he f***ing has 8 HRs already. I still don't mind leadoff hitters that may not have the power swing, as long as they actually get on base and steal bases efficiently. AKA Scott Podsednik the first four months of '05. But you're MUCH better off with prime Johnny Damon clones than the Podsednik's and Pierre's of the world even at their 'best.' -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:09 AM) Rios really truly showed KW's weaknesses. Do we not have scouts who watch players loaf?? Do we not care about players' attitudes. People mock some of our past cfs for being "grinders" but f***, Rios is a joke. KW should be able to find out that the guy has a penchant for loafing, for stealing paychecks. It's all on KW. This Beckham slump is really mystifying and sad. He should be better than this. Rios baffles me. Even when he was "showing signs" he wasn't hitting the ball with any authority whatsoever. He's basically a right-handed Juan Pierre in that regard. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 01:07 AM) Other find it easy to blame Kenny. Everyone knows the book on Rios, so he gambled. As for Beckham, he might have benefited with more time in the minors. He may have been brought up too soon because of the failed Josh Field experiment. Or maybe he's just not that good? We've had 2+ years to get a feel of his true skillset. The verdict is in: he doesn't really have many skills. You look at a guy like Andrew McCutchen and the skills smack you upside the head. You don't need to have a trained eye to recognize him. -
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 12:59 AM) Ozzie officially has no f*cking clue: Pierre: .316/.451/.784 this season vs. Lefty pitching I don't even think Ozzie is fooled by a 50 PA sample size. JP is awful and needs to be benched for at least a week.

Guys that are becoming legit prospects

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 12:57 AM) Addison Reed has surely look great since being drafted. He is our most exciting player right now outside of the obvious Viciedo. Yes, I do like Reed. I'd actually like to give him a shot right now over most of the raw sewage we're running out there. -

Jordan4life_2007 replied to Real's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Honestly, and this includes me, I think too much is being made of Viciedo not being up yet. Yes, he should definitely be here. That's a no-brainer. But he's not going to save this offense. Rios, Dunn, AJ, Beckham and Morel are not going to start hitting because Dayan is in the lineup. I don't think Pujols can save this lineup right now. Even the most pessimistic poster could not have predicted that on June 18th we'd have this many Rafael Belliard (the worst hitter I've ever seen) wannabees. Greg Walker needs to come out and have a press conference and explain this s***. They owe us that much. Rios? Are you serious? He is TERRIBLE. Beckham? WTF happened to this guy? Morel? Where's all this gap power he was supposed to have? -

Probably when we're 10+ games out again. Which will definitely happen soon if this team doesn't start hitting. You can't survive in the NL, let alone the AL, with so many Skippy Handleman clones in your lineup. -

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 12:12 AM) The longer he stays in AAA, the more he looks like a trade chit when Kenny goes all in. Logic would have him up by now. The only reason to keep him down pounding the crap out of the ball is to max his value without risking damaging it by bringing him up. That's a decent theory. Teams all around baseball are calling up their young studs now that the 'Super 2' deadline has passed. We've got some of the worst everyday players in baseball taking up space yet we can't find room for one of the top hitters in all the minor leagues. And another thing...why the hell does Lillibridge have 1 PA since he basically won the game last Saturday against the A's? This organization. Oh my goodness. -
I hate to say it. But if we were going to lose, this is what I would've preferred. A 10-8 slugfest wouldn't have sufficed. This was sweet poetic justice and caps what was an embarrassingly, short-sighted, joke of a trade. Edwin was alright. He was pretty much routine: start slow, look good for a few innings, then ultimately have to leave the game because his command is always horses***. 112 pitches in 6 1/3 IP. That's too much. It's like when Iverson would need 30 shots to get 30 points. How often does Edwin get up on a guy 0-2 then ultimately have to throw 4-6 more pitches just to finish him off? He's so maddening. As for the offense, other than PK, wow. July is right around the corner and we have SIX, yes, SIX blackholes in the everyday lineup. Teams like Boston and Tampa started out really slow, especially offensively. You see how they've recovered. This is just a really bad organization right now. And the future looks as bleak as it has, for me at least, since 1995.

Reed? Petricka? Kuhn? Wilkins? and a couple others. How many of those guys are age-appropriate for their league(s)? I like Reed. The rest have minimal to no upside at all. -

This is going to be a long-ass list. But here we go: Carlos Gonzalez Rickie Weeks Evan Longoria Tulo Ryan Zimmerman Justin Upton Jason Heyward Mike Stanton Eric Hosmer Andrew McCutchen Clayton Kershaw Josh Johnson David Price Cole Hamels Felix Brian Wilson Craig Kimbrel Johnny Venters Michael Pineda Mariano Carlos Marmol Juan Pierre (Yes, I know he's a White Sox. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) that's fine if you gauge the entire season by playoffs only. I look at winning games over the long run. Since KW has been in charge, I think the average season total wins is 86 or so. I think that is pretty good not great but good. You're the type of person people would love to work for. You want results. But not maximum results. Long as you kinda just get by. That's not a terrible thing. Nobody would want to work for me. I demand maximum results. Just getting by doesn't cut it for me. That's kinda why I am the way I am. I have a job that demands the maximum. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) Wait, you're complimenting a White Sox prospect on his development and performance and rating it as a success? I thought the rapture was rescheduled to October, not June. Are you insinuating that I just hate on White Sox prospects no matter what they're doing? If so, that's BS. I hate so much on our system because it's warranted. But what the hell am I supposed to say about Viciedo? Yeah, you want to see more plate discipline. But he's improved in that regard. He'll never be Barry Bonds or Frank. But that's pretty damn rare.
