  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) I will happy to see him in another uniform in late July. Not gonna happen. This division sucks. Will be in it well past July.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:22 PM) 70 pitches in 4 innings he is well on the way to my 100 pitches in 5 inning prediction. Efficiency has never been Edwin's strong suit.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:18 PM) Except for when he is on, then he is the most exciting pitcher on this team to watch. And again, Jackson gets scared by a grounder...... Ugh. Just like when Javy is on. Give me a Tim Wakefield over a guy that has a 50/50 chance of either dominating or getting bounced in the 4th inning.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Edwin is just so damn frustrating to watch pitch. With so many of our position players (and Dunn) being horses*** this year, Edwin has not received the proper venom that he oh so deserves. I can't stand him. I'll never let that trade go.
  5. Just when you want to get excited about Dunn, Gilbert Godfrey strikes him out.
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 01:54 AM) Yeah, I agree. Gio is a legit pitcher, and it hurts to lose him. It was the second trade that killed me. I was fine with the first one. We got Jim f***ing Thome back. But the second one was inexcusable and the beginning of the slow downward spiral KW and Co. have been on the last 3+ years.
  7. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) I won't lie...I love Gio. He's essentially the only prospect we've let go in the last while that hurts for me. Gio and Hudson for me. We'd be incrementally better going forward with those two in our rotation on the cheap for the next 5-6 years.
  8. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 01:10 AM) Maybe I'm being too optimistic about the voting community. but I'm actually among the believers that members of playoff teams should have precedence. In cases of extremities, like A-Rod or Bonds, exceptions are more than accepted. Pay-Rod had no business winning the MVP in '03. He had a fabulous season. But it wasn't so extraterrestrial-like that it should've overrode the fact the Rangers were terrible and finished in last place. Bonds was the exception to the rule that no player from a non-playoff team should ever win the MVP. Video game doesn't even describe what he did from '01-'04. Cheater or not. There was simply no way to pitch to him. Jose Bautista would have to have a similar year as that of Bonds' to snatch the MVP away from a Gonzales or a Cabrera. Independent of whether he had the better statistical year, IMO.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:41 AM) GIO! He's pitching Saturday, right?
  10. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:47 AM) Humans do that too. Its on the internet. Scatlovers.com
  11. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:51 AM) My only correction would be that Adrian Gonzalez is an MVP runner-up favourite. Nobody currently challenges Bautista, playoffs or not. I'm from Toronto, and my Jays fan friends are all "what's with Bautista lately???" He's at .351/.502/.723, but he's "slumping" You'll get no rebuttal from me. But you know if Boston wins the division and Toronto finishes third or fourth that Gonzalez will more than likely win it.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) Don't get me wrong, LeBron needs to play better but he didn't disappear in the 4th quarter tonight like he did in game 4. He still needs to be more assertive and attack the basket more when his jumper isn't dropping like the last couple of games but he was really good at creating easy looks for his teammates in the 4th quarter tonight. Completely different performance from his complete no show in game 4. I don't think people are giving enough credit to Shawn Marion. He's draped on LeBron like brothas be draped on fat white women (not me, obviously). I know AI2 plays LeBron pretty well. But Marion has done the best job of any individual defender on him I've seen this year.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:30 AM) LeBron has scored a total of 25 points over the last two games. Scottie Pippen is an idiot. Yeah, somebody needs to get a hold of Scottie if the Heat lose this series. I'd love to hear/read what he'd have to say.
  14. Boston looks incredibly good right now (save for when we swept them). They're 34-16 since that 2-10 start. Crawford is back to being Crawford. Adrian Gonzalez is an MVP favorite. Josh Beckett is having his best season since '07. They do have bullpen issues, though. But their system is so damn deep that they can either upgrade internally or dangle some bait to other teams for reinforcements.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 10, 2011 -> 12:22 AM) LeBron certainly didn't lose the game for Miami, that'd be absurd for anyone to say. That being said, this is a guy who all the sudden is being compared to the best player to ever play and after being absolutely fantastic against the Bulls, he's back to disappearing down the stretch in the finals. Every time I start to believe that he's turned the proverbial corner, he regresses back to being a little boy when it matters most. To be honest man, who the hell knows with this Miami team. I literally have no f***in clue which team is going to show up. I wouldn't be shocked if they come back to win the next 2 and I wouldn't be surprised if they lose by 40 in game 6. With the talent they have, they're just so all over the place. Gun to my head, I'd still pick the Heat to win this series but I just have no idea. Oh, and all these historical stats really mean nothing in this series. Not a god damn thing. Historical stats never mean anything in any series in any sport. The '04 Red Sox obviously didn't care that no team had ever come back from 0-3 to win a best of 7 series. They just add an interesting, even if meaningless overall, dynamic.
  16. So we've beaten Pineda, Felix and Cahill in 3 of our last 4 games. That's pretty impressive. I have no idea who this guy is they're running out there Friday night. But let's just pummel him for the hell of it and take names later.
  17. Please let this be the beginning of a .950+ OPS from here on out. He owes us that.
  18. All I know is this has been a fabulous series (like last year's finals) and it reminds you about why the NBA is so appealing, despite its obvious flaws, to begin with. Like Badger said, the Mavs won this game from behind the 3-point line. They more than likely don't shoot like this in Miami. So hopefully they have something else in reserve. I figure they need to finish it in game 6. If it goes 7 then Miami probably takes it. I don't think a road team has won a game 7 in the finals since 1969.
  19. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) The Sox have 4 mop up guys in the pen right now. I hope Ozzie just puts Ohman, Pena, Bruney, and Harrel's name in a hat in these situations and runs with it. I was in a good mood until you posted this. I obviously know all of those guys are in the bullpen. But when you see all four of them mentioned in the same post it looks/feels 100 times worse.
  20. Dallas is cuttin' Miami's D up. And Matrix has done as good a job defensively on LeBron as I've seen in a while.
  21. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 09:36 PM) Just tweeted by @gameofinches: "Juan Pierre (.257/.324/.305) is out hitting Ichiro Suzuki (.256/.308/.298) #howdoesthathappen" For real? Ichiro looks as if he's aged 5 years over the offseason.
  22. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Why did Miami want to get Bibby to replace Chalmers? Mario has been far superior to Bibby from what I have seen this post season. I agree. Chalmers has evolved since the postseason began.
