2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Bet the house. Cavs are going to win tonight and win the Series. LeBron is motivated. LeBron is insanely motivated. Only way GS wins is if the West truly is destined to beat the weaker East every year. Not sure what greg's motivation of late is. But at least he's not one of those "My team sucks, may as well cheer for whatever team is going against LeBron" idiots. That's literally what the nba has become the last five years. The Spurs of last year and the Warriors of this year are all-time greats. But nobody really says anything about that. Did you beat LeBron? If you did, we like you.

So Joel Embiid had a setback and could miss another year?

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) You and your healthy Thunder. That team showed nothing at all to show that this was the year they put it together. They wouldn't have been able to beat memphis or clips, let alone the Warriors. lol. They won 45 games with KD, Ibaka and Westbrook missing 55, 18, and 15 games. They made multiple trades (Kanter went nuts after the trade) to shore up their depth issue. Again, they could never get healthy.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) The Cavs are already in the finals next year. I'm reminded of the '08 finals when the Lakers didn't have Bynum/Ariza. That '08 Celtics team was great and the best defensive team I've ever seen. But they caught a huge break in those two being out. The next season? The Lakers rolled through everybody with both healthy (though KG missed the playoffs).

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) I'll start by acknowledging that this is about the easiest time to bring up this argument, but does anyone else think that LeBron may soon start to turn that corner where, physically, he's just not the same guy anymore? Maybe the better question isn't whether those athletic abilities are on the decline but instead whether it matters. Wishful thinking. The Cavs are the overwhelming favorites next year with Irving, Love and Varejao returning. LeBron is still the best in the world. Is he '09 LeBron? Of course not. He's still plenty good enough to lead a team to a title.

Anyway, as good as this Warriors team is (and they're f***ing good), it just goes to show you there is a certain amount of 'luck' that goes into winning it all. I still believe that a healthy Thunder could've beaten them in round 1. Not having to go through the Spurs at any point was another blessing (the Spurs would've dusted the Rockets). And then, of course, the Cavs. This could've been an all-time great finals. The Warriors don't have to apologize for anything. They beat who was put in front of them. But it could've been A LOT harder.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) For all that he does so well, LeBron as volume shooter is rarely a winning formula for his teams. MJ could routinely average 25-28 FGA/G with decent enough efficiency but that's not LBJ at his best. LBJ is best when shooting crazy efficient, distributing on offense, and making his presence felt on D. I'm actually becoming suspect of how much of a defensive player he can be anymore from all the mileage, but we see that offensive juggernaut all the time. Not in this series/with this version of CLE, though. I mean, there are some great distribution numbers, but he shouldn't be taking 35 shots. Someone else on his team needs to touch the ball. Like who?

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 14, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) It's close but I'd take the '01 Sixers. Mutombo was pretty beastly in that series and was the DPOY and Eric Snow was a better PG than Delly. Didn't Aaron Mckie win 6th man of the year as well? Anyway, Cleveland went as far as they could go. No one man in nba history could beat this Warriors team with this supporting cast.

Hockey is deplorable. But one win away from 3 titles in 6 years is beyond impressive. You're talking the *barf* premier franchise in team sports right now.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 13, 2015 -> 11:23 PM) The Cavs will win Game Five. LeBron is better than a lot of people think. Cleveland finally wins a championship this year its first in any major sport since 1964. Yeah, he's gone under the radar until now. I will say the extra day off could be huge for them.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 12, 2015 -> 02:41 PM) Golden State finally woke up and played some ball. I disagree with all the crap about the Cavs being worn out. I still think Cavs win the series. No chance now. They had to win game 4. Now they're forced to winning another game in GS.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) Pretty good scoring game but some horrendous turnovers. He needs to be better(duh). EDIT: that said it's 2 bad games, too early to kill him for the entire finals. He can easily snap out of this and be great the rest of the series. I agree completely. I still don't think the Cavs can pull this off. But if they win game 4?

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) ya he was great moving the ball... except curry kept with the awful turnovers.... careless behind the back pass lolwut worst mvp performance in a finals evar? He recovered after a REALLY slow start to have a pretty (offensively) good game.

2014-2015 NBA thread
I can't believe what I am witnessing. The Cavs could/should be up 3-0 against arguably the best team we've seen in 19 years with LeBron and absolute bums/scrubs. I still can't bring myself to think the Cavs can win this series. But they're two wins away with their belief/confidence soaring by the minute. We'll see what happens. But you LeBron haters (omg the decision!!!) better prepare to stay off the internet/social media/etc... LeBron is two wins away from being at minimum co-GOAT.

2015 MLB Draft Thread - Discussion - DAY TWO
I don't know what it is about the MLB draft that gets me so giddy and hopeful. 75-80% of these dudes are going to bust/flameout/etc. Yet there's this overwhelming feeling of hopefulness/excitement that comes over me during the course of these three days.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:52 PM) If this is true then you trade him. You need offense and this is a different era of baseball. This is not what we once knew of pitching being a premium. The tables have turned and now dynamic offensive hitters are a premium. Quintana on this team that isn't going to make the playoffs. Quintana has never been a pitcher that he accumulated wins. Get an unbelievable can't miss prospect out if him now before his stock falls so far it's not even a possibility. Because it will.

At least we get a break from Curry's daughter. It is too damn easy to become famous these days. The Cavs held the Warriors to 93 points at home in an overtime game. Warriors should still win no matter what. But hopefully we atleast get a good series.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 07:21 PM) This postseason really sucked. Most teams got hit pretty bad with injuries, more than usual it seems. Maybe the league should look into shortening the season for the sake of players' health? Won't happen though, that would mean lost revenue. It has. The plethora of injuries is very concerning to me. We can't go 48 hours without a key player going down, or at the very least being severely hampered, by an injury. The last five years has basically been cheer for any team that's playing against LeBron. But even the biggest LeBron hater has to admit it's horses*** that we're not seeing the best players on the best teams healthy and going at each other in June. This finals is basically like when Jordan was going up against the Celtics in the 80's. I don't even want to watch.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) I'd be shocked if that's possible with BUtler coming up. http://www.todaysfastbreak.com/nba-east/ce...egy-head-coach/ some good reading. Re: J4L Good stuff. I look forward, hopefully, to a fully-functioning-modern-day-style offense at some point before I turn 40.

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:58 PM) A lot of people want Jo gone, but in your opinion wouldn't he fit the bill as that point forward perfectly? Watching highlights, looks like Niko could be similar to Niang. Though Niangs post game looks better. All I know is I really hope they can somehow grab Wes Matthews or Danny Green in FA. Is this possible? Zoom, I order you to speak up.
