  1. Smoak is a beast. Nice to see so much young talent flourishing all throughout the game. That is sans the White Sox.
  2. There's your run Humber. Make it work. You won't get another.
  3. lol@the Paul sarcasm. Dude put up a line of 22 PPG, 11.5 APG, 6.7 RPG, 1.8 SPG, 54.6 fg%, 47.4 3pt% on the Lakers with NBDL talent around him. That series had no business going 6 games and did so only because of Paul's brilliance. Paul is great. Let it go.
  4. Damn, I didn't even realize Smoak was hitting so well. Makes Beckham look even more pathetic.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Cue Corpseball. We might have the worst minor league system in baseball and I'm still more excited by Charlotte's game tonight than ours in Seattle. Ugh. There's no might. It's bad and getting worse every year.
  6. Julio Teheran to make his major league debut tomorrow. Looks like I'll be watching that game. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AjlE...-braves-teheran
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:43 PM) If we get to game six I bet I'll go. I hope we can storm through these 2 games You in Atlanta?
  8. Hosmer works a walk. Came back from 1-2. Good plate discipline. And Gio's stuff looks sick. Another BB for Hosmer and he just stole a base.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) Viciedo already 2 for 2 with his 21st RBI, up to .299 and his season high water mark. Hynick sucks. De Aza and McPherson continue to play well. Milledge in danger of being out of baseball soon altogether. Interestingly, Dayan, Flowers and Danks all have over an 800 OPS now. Danks' K% is 40.5. lol. He's just getting worse and worse. Flowers' is at 35.7. I have no idea what Mitchell's is. But I'm sure it's mammoth. I didn't think the system could get any worse than it was before the season. I was wrong.
  10. Andre Ethier extends hitting streak to 30 games.
  11. Bulls look fantastic. It's amazing what going on the road can do for a team at times. Shooting 58% from the floor. Make that 60%. Rose has gone bonkers.
  12. QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 5, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) Are you guys going to leave Crow in the bullpen all year? He's been rather impressive in his role so far.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blog/roto_...=fantasy-wp1991 Yeah, I know you were talking about it in another thread but I didn't realize he was actually getting called up. I thought it was just a rumor or a hypothetical. Never thought I would be jealous of the Royals. They're going to be really good pretty soon. Then you got the Indians. Sucks we didn't take advantage of this division when those two teams were down. Now they're coming and we're going the other way.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 04:58 PM) Remember, we said the same thing last year, and supposedly KW was putting out feelers on trading people when the team suddenly started winning every game they played. You know what they say. Fool me once, shame on you. And you know the rest. This team ain't playin' me again. I want to see some DRASTIC improvements by June 1. Forget the break. We got Felix tonight. I have no choice but to assume that's a loss. So that's 11 games below .500. If in two weeks we're 15 or more games below .500 then it's time to punt the season.
  15. Getting to .500 by the break could be a bad thing. It would create an illusion that the team has a shot and KW will do something stupid. To me, this team has exactly one month to turn this s*** around. If there isn't considerable progress then moves HAVE to be made. Don't mess around and wait until the deadline. Everybody is fair game.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ May 5, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Here we go with Hosmer. The first wave has begun. Wow, just heard. I guess KC really feels like they have a shot this year. I just assumed they were going to play the service time card. The numbers this kid has put up in his last 600 or so PAs have been staggering.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:30 AM) He shouldn't even be in High A in the first place. I was against that when I heard our brass was doing it. Do we have a single prospect of relevance doing anything? Mitchell has been a joke. Thompson has sucked since his hot start. Phegley sucks. Danks and Flowers don't even count anymore. Escobar's hitting .228 with a sub .300 OBP. But I guess the system will get a boost if/when Morel/Beckham get sent down. This s*** is just depressing.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:03 AM) Yes, and the fact that all of our starters are better than theirs with the exception of Humber (probably) tells you that there's something seriously wrong with our team chemistry/morale/attitude/mental make-up. Our offense just shouldn't be THIS bad. The Indians and Royals won't finish 1-2 in the AL in hitting, but as we learned in 2005, sometimes everything just goes your way. In the case of the Indians and Royals, it was for the Twins AND White Sox to both tank simultaneously to start the season. Why not? Both teams, especially the Indians, can rake.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:35 AM) Wasn't he a June callup? Lol. C'mon, Balta. May or June, who cares. You implied called up prospects rarely affect pennant races. One did just that last year.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:29 AM) How often does a May callup actually wind up affecting a pennant race? Buster Posey says salutations.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) http://www.kansascity.com/2011/05/05/28530...mes-hosmer.html The stakes on this road trip just got even more complicated. The Royals are launching a warning shot across the bow of the rest of the AL Central. It was one thing when we only had to worry about the Twins. This season, we'd have to jump FOUR teams that now all have a legitimate foundation for ending up as the division winner. We said the Indians aren't real, and maybe they're not, but the Royals have a LOT more talent than the 2003 team that had a 6 1/2 game lead for first place at the ASB. If any of their pitching phenoms can complement Hosmer and Moustakas, watch out. Soon. If Mike Montgomery and Duffy can make it (two lefties for their rotation already dominating in AAA), they're a legit contender. Odorizzi from the Greinke/Brewers deal is also dealing in High A. No worries. Will just counter with our potent quartet of Jordan Danks, Tyler Flowers, Addison Reed and a side helping of Jacob Petricka.
