  1. Am I the only one that forgets Peavy is a White Sox? Seriously, no hyperbole. I totally forgot he existed until this thread was bumped.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) LOL It's "quivering lip". My fault. I'm on my phone right now. Read it wrong.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) Considering his age, I think most teams in the league would trade anybody on their team for him. Would the Rays trade Longoria? Would the Rockies trade Tulo? Would the Marlins or Dodgers trade Johnson or Kershaw? That's what I meant. I'm giving love to Castro and hating on our pathetic roster at the same time.
  4. I have a question. How come for the mods you guys have different colors? You got red, orange, I think DBAHO is pink. How does that work?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:06 PM) I've seen some scouts project Castro as a .320 type hitter, 20 homers a year. Not superstar caliber, but definitely one of the top 5 SS in the game. Nothing short of injury will stop him from being a star. I look at skillset moreso than I do raw numbers. I'd trade anybody on our team for Castro.
  6. Anderson Cooper quivering up? What the hell? This is like gremlins. Somebody got wet and folks started poppin' out of nowhere.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) Its not optimism, it is realism. We have a record payroll and we can't afford it to have it with a bad team. Kenny can't afford to wait until the last minute to sell. Unless something crazy happens in the next few weeks, the days with this team are numbered. It isn't that I don't think they could, or would, turn it around, it is that they aren't going to absorb the financial hit from this. They aren't going to chance taking a bath on these guys, period. This really sucks. Even SS2K5 is on the brink. I guess we won't be fighting anymore for a while.
  8. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 5, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) An elite SS? A talented one, yes. A mentally deficient one? Most definitely. Elite? No. That threw me off, too. They're exactly two elite short stops in baseball. Hanley and Tulo. And Castro looks like he'll be in that category soon. How pathetic is that? The fricken Cubs develop talent internally better than we do.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2011 -> 07:59 AM) The single most disappointing game I can think of for the Sox in recent memory was in 2006, down the stretch, against the Twins, JD homered off Nathan to tie the game, then they went back into the doldrums and lost in Extras. That game is etched into my brain for eternity. It was a Saturday and we lost 9-7. I hate 2006.
  10. I called Wite out because I knew he would be the one to challenge my claim. And even he couldn't come up with a list of ten. The verdict is in: Juan Pierre is getting paid millions to he bad at his profession.
  11. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 5, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) I still have faith. A nice long winning streak and the Sox will be right back in the thick of things. Dude, could you please find out the name of that girl? I'm obsessed.
  12. I know I talked a lot of s*** during the off-season. But this f***ing blows. I never expected this natural disaster. We're about to be toast in a week or so if things don't turn around.
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 5, 2011 -> 05:27 AM) Suprised Wilbon didn't fit in a little shot at SVG in that article. Atlanta simply needs to get better production from Horford, Smith and Crawford. I'd have the least confidence in Smith out of those 3 actually, and he's probably got the best matchup to exploit defensively in Boozer. I think Atlanta would be pretty content where they are, and Noah hands down beat Horford today, I think Atlanta would back in Horford to come out strong and rebound in game 3. I had a friend who's a Lakers fan down here who put $150 on OKC to win yesterday, and then decided to match that bet on the Lakers today. I think it's time Dirk started getting some national love, some of the jumpers he was hitting today were fantastic to watch. And that team on paper you wouldn't bet on against the Lakers, but Rick Carlisle is doing a very good job there. Dirk is one of the most truly unique players to ever play the game. I don't think there's ever been anybody like him.
  14. And Wite, I mean 10 players that, like, play a lot.
  15. JP is one of the worst 10 players in baseball. That's a fact. I challenge anybody, even gay Wite, to splash 10 better players. I will destroy you if you attempt to. And I don't mean just this year. Even going back to last year.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) See Belle, Albert (Joey) RBI's in 1997. I think you mean '98.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) I can't believe Juan has 5 errors on the year. That lead all outfielders? He's the worst every day player in baseball.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) It's actually rampant on the board Plus there's the obvious misuse of "then/than" and such, but my biggest pet peeve is when someone uses "dominate" as an adjective. They can kiss my buttocks. They knew what I meant. lol. And this must be happening when I'm drinking. Which is all the time. Not right now. I need a break from that stuff.
  19. Long as Mark gets a statue at the Cell I'm satisfied.
  20. Anyway, what's for lunch, guys? I'm thinkin' Girordanos or however you spell it or Chiggys? I love me some gyros.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2011 -> 12:19 PM) Sorry, I couldn't understand a word of that. lol. That's a good one. But I'm glad you pointed that out. I didn't even realize it.
  22. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) How could you NOT get choked up watching that speech about his mom? Because I just can't. If I'm insensitive then so be it. I can understand being a little moved. But he said tears. I'm sorry. I've got a lot more important things to be moved to tears about than a rich superstar athlete getting choked up at an MVP press conference. I didn't get choked up in '96 after the 4th title and MJ was balling over his father. I get why he got REALLY emotional. Me? No. That's not happening. But I will apologize to Soxfan because it seems as if I was making fun of him or something when I really wasn't.
