It's funny. I'm not nearly as worried as most are about the 'pen. Well, at least of our pitchers that actually have talent. I'm gonna give Ozzie (yes, this will shock you) the benefit of the doubt here. As we all know by now, bullpens make no f***ing sense a lot of the time. They're more unpredictable than when I'm drunk. And that's pretty bad. Let's give Ozzie a chance to get this straightened out. And this really is J4L posting. Ranger did not hack into my account.

It'll Take a Brave Manager to Change Mindset on Starters

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Its not even about the pitchers at this point, its just the biggest streak of bad breaks, nonsense, etc in the 9th inning I can ever remember. Even the best hitters in baseball only get a hit 1/3 times. It just cant continue. Itd be one thing if we werent even getting to the 9th with a lead. I take it you didn't watch many Diamondback games last year. -
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 04:57 PM) i know youll appreciate this comment, at least more than those who like to jump down throats of anyone who bashes our minor league system....but outside of mitchell, i can't even comprehend that their stacked system would even want anything from ours. Yeah. Simple case of fantasy vs reality. Reality wins in a knockout.

Totally pulling this out my ass. But I wonder what it would take to land Soria? His contract runs through next year. They're certainly not going to resign him. The Royals are about set to unleash their farm soon. They've got Crow, Jeffress and Collins.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) Oh god. Can you two take your love spat elsewhere? No way. Let them go at it. I love chaos.

lmao@this thread. Been too busy to post before now. But I was keeping track through my phone. I feel like that little Mogwai Gizmo. Like somebody got me wet or fed me after midnight and a mass collection of J4Ls were born.

I really wants to bone Snookie.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 06:58 AM) Clearly, that is what I was trying to say. Do you really think anybody who posts on this board wants that? This is a message board populated by people that are complete nerds about the Chicago White Sox. This is what I was trying to say --- in plain, easy to understand language: THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THE HUDSON TRADE AT THIS POINT. It's been almost nine months since the trade happened. Stop obsessing over it. Trust me. If Jackson walks and Hudson proves that last year was no fluke, they'll be dozens that obsess over it. You won't even notice me.

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 03:18 AM) Im wondering why you think they still make the playoffs when no team has ever gone 0-6 and made the playoffs, much less even finished with a winning record There is a better chance they finish with a winning record, but I am gonna stick with the "they aint making the playoffs" I believe in the numbers.. I'm assuming you expect the Yankees to win that division. So what AL central or west team do you expect to grab the WC?

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 02:44 AM) You say the most ridiculous s***. In the case that Edwin Jackson were to "go Felix Hernandez this year", he would win the Cy Young and likely anchor the White Sox starting staff for a deep postseason run. But who cares about that? Will you stop watching/following White Sox baseball for the next 5 years if we go deep into the playoffs or even win the WS? Winning the WS is obviously the ultimate. But I'd like to be good every year, or as often as possible. We're set up to win this year and possibly next. For some fans, that's enough. They don't care about 2013 or 2014. And that's fine. I think like a GM. Well, not KW, obviously.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) First 18 games of the season, Bulls D averaged 100.2 ppg Las 62? 88.2. That is absolutely insane. Also, Jack Ramsay picked Keith Bogans as DPOY and Manu as MVP. A natural disaster somewhere in the world just occurred. That's awful.

QUOTE (DukeofChicago88 @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) Alexei is going to have a big year offensively. He's going to dwarf his previous 3 seasons' HR and RBI totals. This offense has the potential to be scary good.

I love walkoffs.

I'm just going to diss every player on the team from now on. I get on Rios like 10 minutes ago and he does that.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) You can hope that the ownership is just going to blindly throw money at the team even with poor attendance, but that isnt what I believe. You can make all the excuses you want, but plenty other teams are drawing 20k or so on weeknights. I actually feel like Reinsdorf and the ownership may feel disrespected, they went out and got a good product, and people still dont show. Its just frustrating to watch the same thing every year. Did you really expect big crowds in April?
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Who's to say Mike Trout is going to be any good? He hasn't proven a thing yet. Top prospect in the game at age 20. Obviously he's going to have to eventually 'prove it' at the big league level. But he's a lot closer to The Show than Mitchell is. Even without the injury.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:48 PM) Would look great. To be fair, , as he was playing high school ball in New Jersey and because of the short and cold spring, many teams did not see him enough. On a side note, the Angels scouting director who drafted him was fired this off season. I don't like that excuse. Maybe those teams that passed on him had more pressing needs? We needed OF depth in the worst way. I'm not writing Mitchell off. But as of right now, it looks like this will ultimately end up another miss by the Sox brass.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) I know it seems I am piling on you, I promise I'm not actively, but does a simple playoff appearance alleviate org depth issues? No doubt playoff appearances = extra money but as I stated earlier, this team just doesn't spend in the draft. Further, as die hard sox fans like we are, you should never be satisfied with making the playoffs. I want rings, banners, and parades every damn year. That is what we should expect, not merely playoff appearances. You should know me by now. I'm the last one that is satisfied with only getting to the playoffs. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) Correct me if im wrong but havent we drafted Beckham, Sale and Mitchell in the first round? Arent those generally considered pretty good picks? Baseball is one of the hardest things to draft, Tampa had what seems like hundreds of high first round picks and so many flamed out. Mitchell was. Though extremely raw. And the injury last year has set him back big time. Sale has yet to be determined until if/when he starts.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:42 PM) Well you have no choice but to be "all in" (I hate using the marketing campaign here but it's true). This is what you get when you draft low upside talent in the first round and refuse to spend money in the draft, but that's a whole nother debate But to just dismiss how good Rios is compared to the rest of the league because he is owed a lot of money is just foolish. Especially when this year and possibly next might really be your last years to compete before the real rebuild starts. How would Mike Trout look right about now? I know, I know. Hindsight. But what are you paying your scouts, ect for?
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:35 PM) Yeah one of the most talented teams in the AL is a "mess". Where do you get this stuff? The ML team is sufficient for now. But we've got some bad contracts and no organizational depth. A playoff appearance would go a long way in alleviating those issues. But think about that...It's never a good thing when you're future is that predicated on making the playoffs.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) And anytime someone can tell me who in that deep white sox farm system can be a replacement level CF'er it would be great. Can't. There's nobody. Still doesn't mean you don't shop him under the right circumstances. KW is going to have to get really creative or quit. He's put us in this mess.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Point being? Sox didn't give him the deal. They took a shot two years ago, and Rios was great last year. He's a plus plus defender and is a nice bat in the middle of the order. But yeah, lets trade him and let Jordan Danks come up and show people he sucks. Rios had a monster May. Check his splits. They're not very impressive.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) you are aware that a an actual CF who can play defense and hit are rare right now? There MIGHT be like 10 actual CF's in baseball right now. I'm very aware. His production doesn't match his pay. If the Braves said give us Rios and, I don't know, $8 million for Delgado or Vizcaino, and another prospect, I'm game.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) Yeah right, not with that contract. He needs to pick it up after that dreadful 2nd half of the year last season. We'd have to throw in some cash. I still think the Braves would be an ideal fit.
