  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:30 PM) Exactly the point. D1 went for the big payday rather than the security. Nothing the Sox can do can force him to sign one of these team-friendly guaranteed money deals. He's going to get his $100 million payday. True. Either way the '3-year' rule was never an option. Now it's REALLY not an option that JD has established himself as one of the best non-ace pitchers in baseball. I'm just saying something is going to have to give. Same with Jackson if he has a good year.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:23 PM) As soon as D1 agrees to sign for $30.5 million, I'll guarantee you KW and JR will jump at it. That obviously would've have happened already. Cahill, like others, went with the security. That's good. As I don't think Cahill is that good, anyway. Danks ain't signing for that. Nor should he.
  3. A's add to the epidemic that is locking up young SP. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AqEL...-cahillcontract They've got control through 2017. Sorry, Jerry, times have a changed. Gonna have to bite the bullet with Danks.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:10 PM) The whole bottom of the West(minus NO) is pretty damn dangerous to be honest. Let's just say I'm glad we're in the east. I'd want no part of the Blazers or Grizzlies. I'm just fine with Philly or Indiana.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) Nah, can't write off the Twins that easily. If the Sox can beat the Twins a few times, then I'll say that. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 05:23 PM) Definitely. I've been saying all offseason long that on paper this is our division by far to lose but I don't think any Sox fan at this point is dumb enough to count out the Twins. On the other hand, I'm with you and Mike on the Tigers, I never understood what people saw in them, still don't. I know this. I'm just saying on paper, I guess. Last year I felt the Twins had better personnel than we did. Not so much this year. But we had better personnel in 2003, 2004 and 2006. So, yeah, that only goes so far.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) I think his whole section on memphis is very spot on. Frankly if the bulls had to play memphis in the first round I'd be very very worried. They played us hard. The Blazers are the team I think nobody wants to play. They've got some serious length, athleticism and they're deep as hell. It's a shame Roy has fallen off so greatly (though he's still a solid player) and Oden has become Bowie/Olowokandi part 2.
  7. I miss Bobby like I miss John Ritter's acting post Threes Company.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) And Crede. Won the silver slugger. I miss that offense. Well, save the horrific 8-9-1 that was Uribe/Anderson/Pods. I was at the Cardinals game that we won like 19-9? Somethin' like that. I thought the stadium was going to run out of fireworks.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Back to back weeks to Sox players? Unheard of! I wonder did this occur in '06. That 3-4-5 of Thome/Konerko/Dye was better than booze.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) I know it is early, but I really didn't get them being a "favorite" in the AL Central. They just aren't that good IMO. Assuming the Indians and Royals are still the Indians and Royals, the division really is ours to lose.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) I'm not counting my chips before they're cashed. A couple years ago, it looked like Chris Paul was going to be a monster. Chris Paul's best seasons were at age 23-24, with his team peaking at age 23...then he got hurt, and now it's an open question whether he'll ever get to where he was before, since all it takes is just a little loss of quickness for a guy like this to fall back towards good but not amazing. On top of that, who knows if there'll even be an NBA season next year. That's why I wanted a SG this year...because this is the Bulls's chance. They might or might not get another one. As the new Mr. Pessimistic guy, I'm going to enjoy this ride for as long as it lasts. All one has to do is think about those Ron Mercer-led Bulls teams and look at this team and not be anything but optimistic. About, well, everything.
  12. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) I'd like to take this time to retract my "Rangers are going to suck" statement. Thank you for your time. Only think I ever questioned was their rotation sans Lee. But it's been dynamite so far.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Alexi Ogando: 2-0, 13 scoreless innings, 0.54 WHIP Saw the highlights. I think this dude is legit. It's a shame the Rangers had to wait so long for this guy (due to human trafficking). Tommie Hunter better get healthy quick.
  14. QUOTE (YASNY @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 04:57 AM) I had to smile when I read this, and I don't mean that in any negative way whatsoever. We're not as bad as some think. We're just misunderstood. I've actually been tame as hell so far. The most b****ing I've done was when Pants created the Pena thread. lol. And that was uncalled for and I said sorry.
  15. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 03:35 AM) Not trying to be a douche but isn't that exactly what injury prone means? That no matter what you keep on getting injured all the time? Note that I'm not saying Jake is or isn't injury prone. It really doesn't matter if he's injury prone, freak injury prone, ect. The fact of the matter is we took on a rather hefty contract with the expectation that we'd have a legitimate #1 starter heading our rotation and the return on that investment has been miniscule.
  16. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 08:55 PM) I couldn't care less about post counts and I really question whether this board is any more jammed up with worthless threads now that this one has hit its second page. Also funny that you seemed to initially get it but now get annoyed over something so harmless. It would have been shuffled well down the thread queue if people didn't really act like this around here. This place has been over the top with overreaction through the offseason and a week or so into the season as well. Maybe you shouldn't post in it again to make sure it goes away as quickly as possible and doesn't annoy you any more. Yeah, my fault. Ain't a big deal.
  17. I KNOW how early it is. And I'm not about to dismiss the Twins 9 games in. But they haven't looked impressive at all and I see legitimate holes up and down that roster.
  18. Wow, I didn't see this. Happy bday, brother.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 07:39 PM) Weaver is freakin fantastic but Felix was better last year, no question. True. I just don't think the guy gets enough pub.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) Pretty average game. Would anybody outside of a Seattle fan had any beef with Weaver winning the CY last year? This guy is so good. I know Felix was better. But it wouldn't have been the atrocity that Bartolo Colon winning it in 2005 was. Not even close.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) I really like how many people are still taking it quite seriously when the cat is already out of the bag. He was being sarcastic? Then he still fails. Don't jam up the board with worthless threads. That s*** annoys the hell out of me. Could've gone right to the White Sox winner thread and padded his post-count if it was that important to him.
  22. Looks like I missed a good one (damn Vodka). Friday's loss still stings but I'll take 3/4 every time.
  23. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Pena looked great today and the defense really seemed to respond with him on the mound. With Thornton's struggles and Pena's lights out performance today, should he be the new closer? Discuss.
  24. Ladies and gentlemans of the court. I have a confession to make.
