  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) You don't say s***? Dude you mention me, on your own, at least once a week. You have been obsessed with me for a while now. Stop frontin'. You're the main one that's always got something to say whenever I say something that's not nice. You're the closest thing to Hawk Harrelson on this board and everybody knows it. And like I said, I don't have a problem with that. This board would suck nuts if everybody was like me, just as it would suck if everybody was like you. Heads is the best example I can come up with as far as a Hawk Harrelson clone goes yet he never jumps on me for my opinion and views. You, Tex and Yas have repeatedly taken shots at me and I haven't said anything. At least anything that could be considered combative or defensive. Tex said I was a troll. Did I get smart back? Nope. oldsox creates the bait thread of bait threads and I say jokingly that not even I could find a negative in the Dunn signing. And everybody knows how excited I was when we signed Dunn. But Yas says, "Give it time." Did I get defensive? Nope. I said I would scale back when I talked to northside and I've done just that. You guys are the ones that are out of line. Not me.
  2. QUOTE (supernuke @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) I wonder why he didn't come back? Yeah, annoying as f***, but at least he was competitve. I believe he got suspended for excessive Packer slurping, Bears hating. And I think he tried to come back under a different account while on suspension. Not 100% sure. But it doesn't really matter now.
  3. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 05:35 PM) Question: Who is the best player to come out of Cuba? Is it Orlando Hernandez? Jose Contreras? Possibly Champman already? My point is, I'll give the 45 million to a proven hitter to help an offense that was pretty bad last year. The Cuban thing is always nice to dream on, but seriously there has not been that much good to come over from there. I get your point. Just wanted to say Hernandez easily. And not because of one inning in '05.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Dude, or you can just.. take a day off, cool off, go to the park. This is sports, baseball is just a game, fans are suppose to enjoy it. From your posts it just seems like you don't. It's always black or white, life or death. Again, I can't help it if you perceive it that way. Do you guys really believe I sit here with a blade at my wrists over f***ing baseball? Lol. Sorry, I have a little more perspective than that. This is a message board. One of a billion. You should be allowed to express your views or opinions independent of if they're deemed to be positive or negative. And as long as you don't attack somebody or somebody's personally, which I've done once in 8 years, and that's because that person was comin' at me. I talked to northside and I ain't said nothin' since. So save all that troll garbage and bad poster crap just because you don't agree with me.
  5. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 11:59 AM) I don't even know you, but it seems like every thread I've gone into has a post from you about how the team sucks, mistakes they made, how this ir that will be bad, etc. So I don't have a problem with you, but Jordan4life's posts have been irritating. I'm guessing in person you aren't nearly as pessimistic. You mean as far as my every day life goes that doesn't involve the White Sox? Of course not. But 4 missed postseasons in the last 5 years has taken a 'toll' on me. I'm eternally grateful for '05 and to see a WS champion at the ripe old age of 22 when others who had passed away in their 60's and 70's never got to see one makes me cherish it a billion times more. But I was never one of those fans that said, “OH MY GOD! WE'VE WON IT! WE CAN FINISH IN LAST EVERY SEASON UNTIL THE DAY I DIE AND I'LL BE SATISFIED! “ type of fans. 2005 elevated my expectations. By a ton. 2010 rubbed me the wrong way on many levels. The debacle that was the DH situation when it didn't have to be a debacle, the Edwin Jackson trade and another beat-down by the Twins was my boiling point. As far as I'm concerned, the Sox have to 'prove it' to me. We've heard the term “All-In“ for the last 5-6 months. But by my estimation, other than the Dunn signing, which was massive, we're the same team we were last year. This isn't like what the Red Sox or Brewers did. Basically, we're hoping that guys that for the most part sucked last year, don't suck again this year. Now I can't help it that certain posters like yourself, SS2K5 and hi8is are insulted whenever I say something that can't be misconstrued as holy optimism. You guys get on my nerves just as much as I do yours. But I don't say s***. That's your right. I only say something when you reply to me for the most part. I lauded the Adam Dunn signing and you can google the thread if you don't believe me. But I'm not going to pretend that I have faith in a Phillip Humber just because he's a White Sox. I'm not going to pretend to like any move the team makes just because it's the White Sox. I didn't like the Crain/Ohman signings. Does that mean I want them to suck so I can say I was right? I'd have to be a loser of epic proportions to want that. If that makes me evil then so be it.
  6. QUOTE (SoIL @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) Sounds good. I hope he keeps it. Cautiously optimistic he doesn't pull a '06 Brian Anderson. But I am excited to see what he can bring to the table. I don't need Longoria or Zimmerman. League average offense and solid defense will suffice.
  7. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) No problem, last year I think it was ChWRock who saw the same thing & almost had a heart attack. I mean, to the point where you thought we all had money on this or our life depended on this draft. Once he saw the flip, he remained quiet throughout the draft. Remember the aneurysm he had after our Andrus/Bay swap and me dropping Carlos Lee? lol. Good times.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Feliz should start. Rangers are going to suck this year, I think. I see some serious regression from that starting staff. But their offense should be as potent as any in baseball if reasonably healthy, and their bullpen could be even better than last year's. Plus that division doesn't figure to be all that strong (though the A's are a major sleeper). A ton would have to go wrong for them to suck.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 11:18 AM) Dunn @ $56 million is the steal of the century, imo. That would be the ridiculous Longoria contract. Although that wasn't a FA signing, obviously.
  10. Ok, like, the girls from Degrassi are pretty f***ing hot. And I don't wanna hear it. They're all of age and in some cases drinking age. I'd love to party with these girls.
  11. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) Suck it, haters! That was bootyful. I think it was after that performance that I created my "please don't trade Chris Sale" thread. Now it's like, " why the hell did you draft him if he wasn't going to start?" But I digress there. Long as he's on the road to starting this time next year I'm fine. If not, beware of my wrath.
  12. And Tex says I'm a troll.
  13. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) There's nothing wrong with people posting updates on Jake's status. Get off your high horse. We all want him to get healthy and get back on the mound to help our team win. No f***ing s*** we want him to get healthy. But let's post some news of essence. I come to this thread to get legitimate updates. This is all crap right now. What's next? Peavy takes a dump without experiencing any soreness?
  14. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 09:56 PM) Tell that to Babe Shelton hahahaha. Took me about 30 seconds to realize you were talking about Chris Shelton. I'll never forget that. Jake Fox is doing something similar.
  15. Some of you guys are trying WAYYYYYYY TOOOOOO hard to convince Sox nation that Peavy is just fine and everything is whip cream with fat cherries on the top. How about we just wait until Peavy is pitching in a game that counts and not post every Twitter message that comes about every 5.6 seconds?
  16. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) lol, every single manager in the Soxtalk 20-team league has a Soxtalk account. I didn't do any recruiting outside of Soxtalk at all. Alright then. Sorry, dude. We just couldn't find anybody else to make it an even 12 teams. Soxtalk ain't feelin' fantasy this year.
  17. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 06:01 PM) Yep, a couple teams have been successful. So every team should follow that same path? There are more than one way. But then you couldn't hate on the Sox as much. Don't know what your problem with me is as of late. You could go the hi8is route, though it's clearly obvious he hasn't really put me on ignore, and that would be the end of it. In one thread I'm supposedly an 8-year troll. Now I just invent things to make up so I can hate on the Sox. If you say so.
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) So wait, I'm looking at the draft order in the live draft right now. Am I missing something or does last year's winner have the #1 pick? I've never shown up to a draft before it started because I'm a f***ing moron so I don't know if this will change but as of right now it seems a bit backwards. Yahoo is weird like that. Don't worry. When the draft starts I'll have the last pick.
  19. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:12 PM) Got it. I'm down with all that. I'm also concerned with how Ozzie decides to use him once he's ready to take the mound. You'd have to imagine that he'd be extremely cautious with his pitch count. So if he's at 75-80 or so pitches in the 5th or 6th inning I could see Ozzie saying f*** this and going to the 'pen. I would imagine there won't be many 90+ pitch games for Peavy. Again, that's just me being pessimistic, I know, what a shock, but it's a legitimate concern of mine. Mark, Gavin, John and Edwin really, really need to be good this year.
  20. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) What'd I say about Betemit? I know I liked Luis Terrero WAY more than I should have. I can't even imagine how many ridiculous things I've said over the years and subsequently forgotten. Basically that he was an underrated acquisition and that he'd be a player. I don't blame you for forgetting. I'd block that out as well.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) I remember following this draft and being so pissed that Daniel Bard got taken the pick before us. I wanted nothing to do with this guy from the start. We wouldn't have taken him anyway. But Thornton+Bard wouldn't even be allowed by XBOX. That would be too devastatingly filthy and unfair.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) I declared Nick Swisher would hit 40 homers for us in 2008 and go on to own the town. It happens. I think I remember that. I've made some pretty horrific predictions as well. But NOTHING will ever top Kalapse's Wilson Betemit prediction.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) He got hit in the arm with a batted ball. I'm not saying it all fair. s***, who was it on the Braves that practically speared Prior in 2003? I forget who. You keep getting hurt, you're going to get that reputation.
  24. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 04:33 PM) No, you never used it. But there ARE people completely writing him off which I think is incredibly foolish. You're not one of them. IMO, it's too early to call the trade a bust for the same reason it's too early to call an NFL team's draft anything until you're like 3-5 years in. You can say how the players have been so far, but broad, sweeping judgments are unwarranted. Again, this is not actually directed at you. I think the problem in this case is that he was injured when we traded for him to begin with. Then he was set to come back a couple weeks later and he got injured again, I believe. Then all we get is a measly 3 starts out of him when the team was long out of the race. He, of course, dominates in those three starts and everything is hunky dory and we're all looking forward to a full season of dominance. He does his best Todd Ritchie/Jamie Navarro impersonation to start off last season and it isn't until June that he looks anything like the pitcher we thought we were getting. He, of course, gets hurt again in July then there's rumblings that he had been pitching in pain all year. So instead of speaking up well before the July injury and giving our medical staff a chance to evaluate him, maybe shut him down for a 2-3 weeks and go from there, we lose him for the final two months, which was a crippling blow to our playoff prospects. And here we are now a week away from opening day and the best-case scenario is that he'll be ready sometime in May. And that's just to take the mound. Nobody has any idea how effective he'll be. He could need 8-10 starts just to get that groove back. So it's easy to see how some like Milkman, myself and others are EXTREMELY frustrated with this guy. We know he doesn't suck. If he did, I wouldn't care if he retired. This is a HUGE year for this franchise and our highest paid player is and seemingly will be a major injury risk all year.
  25. Seriously, though, how has Sale looked? I can't bring myself to watch anymore than maybe an inning of a spring training baseball game. Does the stuff/command look good? Is he getting tattooed? Unlucky?
