  1. I'd love to be wrong. But I'm like 90% certain Lillibridge will break camp.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 06:18 PM) Alex Rios is swinging a sweet bat right now. Dude's ready. I thought this last year. He had a pretty good season overall. But I want to see more consistency from him this year. He really tailed off in the second half last year. Even defensively. And there's no excuse at all for that.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) That... of course that... combined with being the only guy on the roster capable of rebounding. Give me a break. 16 RPG is no fluke. I can understand scoring. Even bad players are capable of 15-20 PPG. Somebody has to score. But 16 RPG is about determination, effort and want to. Who are the big bruising bangers that have been snatching rebounds away from Dwight Howard the last few years? Nobody tries to pigeonhole him. And he's never averaged as many RPG as Love.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 03:45 PM) Or being the far and away best player on a horrific team Kevin Love is not the first player in NBA history to play on a bad team.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) It was a special set of circumstances that allowed Love to achieve that feat, but it was still impressive nonetheless. A special set of circumstances? You mean like being really good at basketball?
  6. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) His K-rates are practically Marmolian. If he can any sort of control, he could be extremely deadly. lmao. Oh my goodness. What is with you? Is there not any scrub that we could bring in that you don't think we can turn into the next superstar?
  7. QUOTE (balfanman @ Mar 12, 2011 -> 07:15 PM) Ozzie states in tonight's Tribune that he's been impressed with Teahens' 3rd base defensive improvement of late. Just because Teahen made one diving stop. Ozzie will never be regarded as an intellectual. But I can't believe he's that f***ing stupid.
  8. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) celtics lose to the 76ers .....if the bulls can pull this game out, we will be only .5 out of the top seed in the east Gotta admit, I didn't come close to seeing this coming. This Bulls squad has made me look foolish, and I love it. Rose had an awful shooting night. But he was aggressive and attacked the basket at will. That's the difference between a good scorer and a great scorer. Get to that FT line. God I wish we could go more than a f***ing week with a full roster.
  9. I wanted him on the roster the second he was acquired. I want no part of Lillibridge or De Aza. Gross.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) The Rangers also have the pitching depth to make a move like that. The White Sox don't and are also facing two expiring contracts in the rotation. Dead on right here. If we had a Martin Perez and Tanner Scheppers waiting in the wings, I'd feel just fine with Sale as our future closer. QUOTE (maggliopipe @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read Feliz wants to stay in the closer role. I honestly don't know. Could be. All I read was that they didn't want to take him out of his comfort zone. Something like that. Maybe that says something about Feliz that he'd rather pitch 70 innings than 200.
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) That would be right up many coaching staff's alley. If the players is outstanding in one role and just effective in another maybe he should stay in the former. Don't you think that all of these teams want to win. The coaches will get fired if they don't win. They will put the player where they think they have the best chance to win. Maybe Texas thinks that he will lose to much of his stuff as a starter and will not be as effective. The Sox may think that Sale is more effective throwing 99 out of the pen instead of 94 in the rotation. I don't know any of this for fact but there are two sides. The Rays certainly didn't do that with Price. Though to be fair he had only spent a little over a month in the 'pen in '08. Either way, I don't expect Sale to be a starter.
  12. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) Hinrich played his ass off for the Bulls every night even with average talent around him. Not sure how anyone can not be a fan of his. Look at the weak teams he had to play on. Kirk was part of that average talent. He is an average talent.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 04:23 PM) Yes, because the Rangers are doing it, the Sox will for sure do the same thing. Overreaction central here. C'mon, Rowand. Are you trying to say that there's not at least a 50/50 chance that if Sale flourishes in relief that come spring 2012 we won't hear something like “Well you know, Chris did a really good job in his role last year. It might not be fair to him to move him to the rotation” or “It'd be kinda risky to increase his innings by such a substantial amount so soon.” That'd be right up Ozzie and Coop's alley.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Thornton. If the plan is really to move Sale back out of the bullpen after this year, then may as well get Thornton used to closing now. Not happening. You see how chicken s*** the Rangers are. They're so scared that Feliz will be scarred for life if they remove him from the closer role they'll cheat themselves, Feliz and their fans. Once Sale establishes himself, and I believe he will, in whatever relief role he's put in, he'll be there to stay. But don't fear. Jacob Petricka, Jimmy Gallagher, and Dylan Axelrod are here.
  15. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) yep I found it.. Ryan Howard Felix Hernandez Justin Verlander Clay Buchholz Jon Lester You have to take at least two hitters.
  16. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Mar 11, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) a) Thornton deserves a shot. I know "deserves" is a weird word to use when the ultimate goal is to win, but I think the way you handle personnel issues like promotions speaks volumes about your club from a player's perspective. It's a dramatic enough front office, but if they handle things in a fair manner, people will still want to play here and still be motivated. b ) I don't know whether this is true or not, or whether it's in the plans, but it seems like Sale would have more of an opportunity for multi-inning outings if he's not relegated to the 9th. Might keep him more stretched out in the case of injury or for when he hits the rotation. PS this is all ceterus paribus; they're both fine options, so little details will sway the decision. Huh?
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 09:06 PM) Hinrich is not and has never been a great defender. Great? No. Great would be Andre Iguodala (who's the best perimeter defender in the game), Ron Artest or Tony Allen. But Kirk is definitely above average. Used to give Wade fits when he was here. That said, at his salary, I'm glad he's gone.
  18. Hizzle, me and Smalls have agreed to a trade. He gets Ian Kinsler I get Tommie Hanson. And with that, J4L is closed for business. Final keeper list: Fielder, Tulo, Longoria, Felix, Hanson.
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 09:58 AM) I doubt he plays 100 games this year, that knee is gonna bother him the whole season. I think I underestimated how old the Phillies are. Their only regulars under the age of 30 are Hamels & the RF position w/ Brown or Francisco (who is 29). Even their whole bullpen is basically 30 & over. Yup, and all their key guys appear to be in decline. But again, a rotation like that can mask a lot of weaknesses.
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 9, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) What a generic, fluff show. Was bored after 10 minutes. Fluff? Was Scott Merkin present?
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 10, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) Two of my favorite players, yeesh. Yeah, I'm a big Lee fan. That 2-run double off of Prior in game 6 is forever etched into my memory. Had to hate him while he was a Cub. But the love returned when he was traded to the Braves.
  22. Utley out for a while. http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/...hi&c_id=phi Lucky for them they've got that staff. Their offense ain't lookin' so hot.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan420 @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 11:12 PM) When are they starting up this year? Weren't you in the Soxtalk keeper 1 league last year? If so PM Zoom. I think there's still one more spot open.
  24. QUOTE (hi8is @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) I think we have 5 more years left. 3 under contract ( this includes 2011 ) and 2 arbitration years. Then he is a free agent as I recall. Correct me if I'm wrong guys. Balta covered it. Post #93.
  25. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) Replace Rose with Durant, and you have a very realistic scenario that I'd put my money on right now. (which isn't to say I think that's definitely going to happen, but I think that's a lot more likely than your proposed idea) Ranks first NBA.com's efficiency ranking and third in PER. He's very good at basketball. Shut down the western conference were this to happen. Also, Kevin Love is first in offensive Win Shares and fifth in Win Shares overall. I don't have anything bad to say about him. He's an amazing player.
