Soxtalk Keeper League 2 Info
Jordan4life_2007 replied to MHizzle85's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
Still open to trading for a SP. Cargo can be had. Of course, a stud would be required. Kinsler, Fielder, anybody outside of the super-two can be had. -
lmao. I figured either you or Kalapse would come through. I will keep him in mind after every one of Dunn's 45 torpedos.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) He's being kept alive by the blood supply in his cock That was, uh, pretty gross, dude.
-
Damnit, I wish I could remember who it was that said Dunn was an "NL only hitter" when the signing went down?
-
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) looks like Gerald Wallace is goin to portland reports say its either a package including andre miller or joel pryzbilla They've got some serious length/athleticism with Wallace, Batum and Aldridge. They'd be too scary with a healthy roster.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Link Thanks. Well this is definitely a better looking deal for the Jazz. Though the '11 draft is looking like one of the weaker ones of the last decade.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 04:07 PM) Why does everyone on ESPN keep saying the "much improved Cubs"? Nothing says much improved like a .196 batting average from your 1B and a pitcher with extreme fly-ball tendacies and HR rates in which you can bunt the ball out of the park when the wind is blowing out. I'd be shocked if Garza didn't sport an ERA of at least 4.50. Everybody thinks there's automatically this dramatic drop with a switch from the AL to the NL. But Garza was aided by one, a tremendous Tampa defense, and a ballpark that suppresses offense. Should be fun to watch.

So does anybody know the details of the picks the Jazz received?

I thought this thread was destined for fail (sorry, knight..Just thought you were bored), but it's turned into a decent one. Some of these are pretty creative and bring back memories.

QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) If the Sox are struggling or completely out of it by the end of July, dealing Quentin and Buehrle for Rasmus would make sense for them. But probably not the Cardinals. Mark won't be moved unless the Sox struggle. And even then, it's kind of unlikely. I'm inclined to agree. But only because of our pitching situation, majors and minors. It's just my opinion, but from a pure baseball standpoint, and not for nostalgia purposes, there's no way anybody can deny Rasmus >> Buehrle from this point on.
-
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) Am I out of my mind to think that a Buerhle / Rasmus deal would make sense right now? For us? Other than the fact our rotation is only 4-deep at the moment (depending on what we hear and what's really the reality about Peavy) it makes perfect sense for us. Colby Rasmus is a toolsy, athletic, multi-skilled, young and cost-controlled for the next 4 years. In other words, the line would be pretty backed up for his services should the Cardinals ever make him available. As far as where he would play? You sit Juan Pierre's next to worthless ass down for a year and put Rasmus in left. Will just have two expensive bench scrubs for a year. If CQ flops again, you non-tender him, put Rasmus in CF, move Rios to right and search for a competent LF. The considerable amount of money saved, since you're talking a straight one for one swap, throw a little of it at a guy like Kevin Millwood for a year and hope he can pull a 2009 fluke-like year out of his ass. For the Cardinals? This makes NO sense. None at all. They've got bigger fish to try with Mr. Albert. They're in no position to be trading away one of the few cheap, ultra-talented players they have a for a 32-year old due $14 million, who's a year away from FA. Even if they were open to dealing Colby, they'd shoot much higher than Mark Buehrle. I know this is hard to believe for many. But Mark means a lot more to us than he would most franchises. I'm not saying he's not respected around the league. But I don't think he's viewed as the difference maker some around here make him to be. And this coming from a guy that's adored him for years

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) it depends on which 1st round picks the Nets gave up and whether they are protected or not. Mid to late first round picks just don't have a ton of value in the NBA unless you are the San Antonio Spurs. Plus Devin Harris sucks. He's totally regressed since his breakout '09. But like you said, I want to get details on the picks. Otherwise this is a sham of a deal for Utah.
-
Damn, I forgot about Williamtell. lol. He's the one Jazz fan that exists outside of Utah.
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 08:07 AM) I just cant blame Pujols at all for asking for 30 mill a year when Hunter and Crawford make 18 and 20 respectively. Don't forget Jason Bay. My goodness that was a brutal signing. EVERYBODY knew it.

Adam Wainwright significant elbow injury
Jordan4life_2007 replied to justBLAZE's topic in The Diamond Club
At least this happened before my fantasy drafts. For real, huge blow. But I'm sure the Cards will pluck some bum off the wire or when spring cuts are made and turn him into a 3 or 4 WAR pitcher. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) As they should be... I can't wait for the specifics to come out. Jazz management is f***ing nuts if they think they're going to be able to blow this off as a move they wanted to make after the Sloan debacle. Then again, nobody gives a s*** about the state of Utah.
-
And you guys should check out the Jazz board at realgm. They.are.f***ing.pissed.
-
And next on the list will be Chris Paul and Dwight Howard. And when Blake Griffin is eligible he's gone. This is unbelievable. I figure we've got two years MAX to win a title with D-rose as the centerpiece before he becomes a FA or gets traded because of a beef with TT or complains about not winning.

Soxtalk 20-team League
Jordan4life_2007 replied to SouthsideDon48's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 03:37 PM) Hey Jordan, Thanks for referring your friend. We already got 20 teams though, the 20th guy Reddy joined last night. So we're all good. We finally got 20. Once again, thanks for the referral. Not a problem. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) Well, first of all the Knicks wouldn't have been Carmelo in the offseason.. he was getting traded to the Nets had New York not stepped up and he would have ended up signing that extension so he wouldn't lose all that money.. the Knicks had to make this deal Secondly, they didn't give up s***.. a bunch of guys who looked good in Mike D'Antoni system.. if you have the chance to acquire a player like Melo, you do it.. even if it means you give up a hand full of guys who will never be stars.. Solid move by the Knicks, better than them thinking they could just get Melo for nothing in the offseason and then see him shipped to the Nets with a nice extension Nobody denies the Knicks got the best player. But you can't honestly look at their roster construction and think they're any closer to a title. Maybe a seed better? And let's not pretend NY gave up a bunch of Steve Kerr clones. Felton was giving them 17 and 9 and probably is a better player than the aging Billups at this point. So no upgrade there. Chandler is 16 and 6 and was probably their best defender, though that's not saying much considering that the entire team was and still is awful defensively. Chandler is also a good 3point shooter. Gallinari was a 15+ ppg scorer and a career 38% shooter from downtown. So that's more outside shooting they lose. And then all the picks. So again, Knicks got the best player. He and Amare should regularly combine for over 50 ppg. But their depth, outside shooting was totally depleted and Melo doesn't do a damn thing for their defense.

Soxtalk 20-team League
Jordan4life_2007 replied to SouthsideDon48's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) Update: We currently have 19 teams. We need just 1 more. Hey, Don. I think I have a guy that's interested in joining. Should I give him the info? I ask because I'm not sure if you're holding out for somebody, it being your league and all. But I'll be sure to let him know not to join if he's not going to be active all year. -
KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
Jordan4life_2007 replied to soxsoxsoxsox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) KW is full of it. He is this same guy who tried to trade for ARod a few years back. $25 mil, $30 mil, it's all crazy money. True. KW would gladly throw that at Pujols if he could. But it's like what chw42 said. It's the years, not the money. Albert won't be worth anything near $30 million after age 35. -
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Feb 22, 2011 -> 12:07 AM) Well Amare is better than Iverson no doubt for starters. I'm most interested to see how Melo is going to fit in D'Antoni's 7 second or less offense. And he's not that good of a 3PT shooter either. I'd go with those Denver teams overall over the current Knicks team. I can't believe they parted with Gailliro, however you spell it, a much younger and still improving PG in Felton and Chandler. Definitely one of the three. Maybe even two. But all three? And another thing, didn't Denver get Brewer?
-
All I gotta say is if you're looking for a spot to eat go to Portillos. They have no peer when it comes to cheesy beefs or ribs. Their shakes are the stuff dreams are made of as well.
-
About f***ing time. I was getting sick of this s***. Couldn't even watch NBA TV anymore. The Knicks obviously get the best player in the deal. But they payed a STEEP price. They basically have no bench and no outside shooting to take the defensive pressure off Amare and Anthony. I love what Denver got back. They weren't going to succumb to Carmelo being a b****. I really don't see how the Knicks are any better than the Denver teams with Iverson and 'Melo. In fact, they might be worse.
