QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) I don't think that Jackson is a #4. He can be a #2 guy if his head is on straight. So could Javy and Daniel Cabrera. I'll believe it when I see it.

Damnit. I knew it was going to be something obvious.

I'm kinda buzzed. What does FMB mean?

This is a tragedy. They've got the best Italian beefs outside of Portillos. The deep dish is the s*** as well.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) Im a few credits shy of my Journalism degree, but this sentence struck me as odd and funny. Not sure how one thing relates to the other... Lmao. I read that, too. I laughed my ass off.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:17 PM) This one is my favorite. The season might live or die by how many times Jake Peavy throws a baseball. I think it does. Our rotation is made up of one #2 (Danks), a #3 (Floyd), and two #4s in Jackson and Buerhle. Don't even get me started on our 5th starter. Peavy, Beckham and CQ are the keys to our season in my opinion.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) as requested: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/ I hate Scott Merkin. I really do.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) I really don't anticipate much of an adjustment period for Noah. His game is all energy, rebounding and defensive positioning -- all things that he can do fine coming back from his injury. I agree completely. Noah is a max 15 PPG scorer and most of that is junk points. There won't be much of an adjustment period once he comes back. At least there shouldn't be.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) I'd say Dye in 05 turned out to be pretty big. Or was that the end or 04. I almost s*** myself when we signed Belle. I was still hurting from the '94 strike (yes, I was only 11. But it still hurt badly). But Albert put up the best non-Frank season I've seen in my lifetime from a White Sox perspective in '98. And didn't Steff date Albert? That alone makes me envious. I wanted Steff bad. Now let me shut up.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Manny never actually put up a UZR as bad as Quentin did last year. I know. But he's the best example I could come up with of a guy who was pretty putrid in the field but nobody cared because he was sporting 1.000+ OPSs every year.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) Best FA signing since'97.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) And you just made the exact point on why Sale will indeed be tried out as a starter next season. The Rangers are afraid to move Feliz to the rotation because he was so good in relief. But they have a stocked system with premium pitching 'spects like Perez and Scheppers. I know I'm a pessimist now. I can admit that. I drank the last of my 2005 kool-aid when we trotted Mark Kotsay out there and traded our top pitching prospect for a year and two months of Javy the sequel. I just think they're not going to want to move him if he does indeed flourish. Which I expect he will. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) Wow. I didn't realize his injury was that bad. Everything that can go wrong for the Mets has gone wrong. It sounds like they are still in a deep financial mess with the whole Madoff situation as well. That's going to be one expensive last place team. That organization is a mess.

Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) Yeah, OK. The Sox have 5 good starters, even if one is a question mark at this point, and setting a role for Sale is a good thing. If they leave him in the bullpen next year, THEN you have a legitimate beef. I can see it now. "Sale was so good in relief, why mess with a good thing?" Jackson is good as gone. Mark is a FA. Peavy will be high risk for as long as we have him. We don't want to give Danks the years it will require to lock him up. And our best SP prospect is Jacob Petricka. That's a whole lotta fail. -
Chris Sale Will Start the Season in the Bullpen
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This kinda saddens me. I think Sale will do fine. Be it a set-up role or closer. I think if he flourishes that will be too chicken s*** to move him to the rotation. JMO. -
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) Yep. Me too. I don't need role players to be two way stars. Quentin is a run producer and a good one. Whatever he costs the team in RF he likely more than makes up for it at the plate. Do you have any idea how bad CQ was in RF? Smallz from the Sandlot wouldn't have been any worse. Unless you're prime Manny Ramirez with the bat, you have negative value overall when you're that horrendous defensively.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 07:28 PM) The .878 OPS in the first half sure did. And considering he's an .807 career hitter in the first half, and a .740 in the second half, it didn't exactly come out of left field (it came out of center field!) To be fair, outside of May, Rios was pretty ordinary. I expect more from him considering his skill-set.

QUOTE (IChaseBlackWood @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) I wish I could upload the White Sox conditioning video ...it's mostly about core and what not ...Stuff I would never attempt. You guys can do all that crap while I enjoy my cinnamon raisin bagels and cream cheese! A raisin bagel? I just threw up in my mouth. Please tell me that's not your comfort food?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) I don't think they're that good. I like the rotation, but the bullpen is pretty eh. Plus, their offense lacks a lot of depth. No OBP up top or at the bottom. Morales is their only very good hitter. Everybody else in the middle of that lineup is slightly above average. But you said "bad". I think they could easily be the second best team in the AL behind Boston.

Any Ideas why Major Networks Dislike The Sox?
Jordan4life_2007 replied to Rooftop Shots's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 04:49 PM) I'm puzzled by your quote. Because I like to hear good reports and comments from pros about the team that I follow, and if that doesn't happen, then that makes me a fan of the wrong team???? Wow! I was simply stating a few points, that with the team that we have, and the acquisions that were already added to what we have, as to why we seem to still get ducked in conversations as not even being in the same league when talks are mentioned on high profile teams. Why would you give two s*** about what the national media, "experts" or dumbass pundits think? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Brewers, Rickie Weeks agree to 4 year, $38.5 million contract. Wow, that's a bargain if he can replicate his '10 over the duration of the 4 years. He obviously has to stay healthy. That's been his only problem.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) They could have hired Muhammad Ali and it would have been an upgrade. I was going to say something similar. But I figured it would be in poor taste. Lol. Santo was absolute trash as a broadcaster and won't be missed at all in that capacity.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) If the latest information is even close to true, and the Cards were only offering $19-21 million, Pujols should break off negotiations. That is an absolute bush league offer, relatively speaking of course. You are talking about one of the very best hitters we've ever seen, he should be, at the very least, among the top 2-3 highest paid players in the game. Are you saying there's something wrong with Albert Pujols making a couple million more bucks than superstud Jason Bay?
