  1. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Viciedo GUNS the runner out trying to go home! Just a GREAT throw on a 1-hop to the catch, perfectly on line and strong. Good god, this kid has to make the team at this point. But Ozzie said he has to be fair to Teahen.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) Viciedo!!! M-V-P! M-V-P! I think he'd be one of the top 10 or 15 prospects overall if he had a set position.
  3. Nice to read that some of the youngsters are doing well. But shades of Brian Anderson and Josh Fields owning the preseason always lurk.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) Those had to be killer one on one contests day in and day out After LeBron vs Kobe, that'd be the 1 on 1 contest I'd pay to see most. I remember as a kid being in awe of Kevin Johnson's athleticism from the PG spot. Rose and Westbrook dwarf KJ
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 8, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Thats the question. Both of them have size to play the 2. And I liked the article I just read where D Rose is planning on working his post game with Love's help next offseason. Wouldn't work. Both do not play off the ball well at all and both are way ball dominant. Rose and Westbrook's usage rates are 32.5 and 31.5, ranking them third and fifth in the league, respectively. Something would seriously have to give.
  6. Nice prediction, Steve. Korver doing his Mike Miller impersonation.
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 07:13 PM) Any changes definitely wouldn't be until 2012. Cool. Well you got my vote.
  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 06:36 PM) I'd be open to re-setting the keepers next year to reconfigure the rosters a bit and give the newer teams a shot at guys they missed. However, last time I suggested that it didn't go over so well. What I'd REALLY love to do one of the following: 1) Re-start with an auction. You would be able to keep as many/few guys as you want, but the price paid for him would carry over (most leagues add $5 a year. For instance, let's say you grabbed Gordon Beckham for $8 this year. It'd be $13 to keep him for 2012, $18 in 2013, ect.). 2) A new draft with pick-replacement for keepers. For instance, for 2012 you'd lose your 1st to keep Pujols or your 8th for John Danks (hypothetical). Much like with the auction setup, the pick lost would go up 2 or 3 rounds so if you snag the next stud you can't keep him as your 18th rounder forever. I like these because it adds more strategy to who you keep rather than simply taking your 3 best hitters and your 2 best pitchers (or vice-versa). I'm also 90% sure Yahoo lets you do this rather painlessly (I know for sure you can do the pick replacement). The auction would be next year, right? If so I'm down. Auction leagues are a totally different animal. I don't have the time to deal with it this year. Especially when I've been preparing for the upcoming draft in a couple weeks or whatever. I'd also be cool with simply resetting the league with a regular draft next year as well.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) Day games are 2pm central, until Sunday when we change clocks and they don't. Then day games are at 3. Thanks
  10. What time does the game on Sox.com start?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) Man would it be huge to get a break out year from either Thompson or Mitchell. It would really change the face of the system. I'm greedy. I want to see both have break-out years. The talent/tools are there.
  12. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Do you ever re-read your posts before the season started about the heat? lol. no. But I'm glad I was for the most part wrong.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 10:05 PM) I can't argue that at all. I was in the Heat's corner to start this season, but I was dead on wrong. As was I. But I will stick by my stance that the decline of Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem injury have been big factors.
  14. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) Omar Vizquel. That was decided before ST. Lillibridge for back-up infield and pinch runner. Teahen because he is under contract for 2 years That leaves two spots that are open. I like Danks and Viciedo because of their potential upside. They would be a minor upgrade over Kotsay and Andruw Jones, IMO. Milledge is a better overall player and probably has a better shot than either Danks or Viciedo, but I like Danks left hand bat and Viciedo's is a better hitter than Milledge will ever be right now. You like Danks' left-handed bat? Is it sexier looking when a left-handed hitter strikes out as opposed to a right-handed hitter?
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 06:51 PM) 2012--the Sox have 12 players signed right now for 93.5 million. They better win this year. Yup. This is the biggest year of the Ozzie/KW era.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 04:50 PM) Derrick Jeter? C'mon now. That's totally different.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) ? Damn. I botched that word.
  18. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) also at the beginning of the game they said something like the bulls had 6 of the top 11 individual defenders, im not seeing those stats anywhere online anyone know who they are or where i can see that list My guess would be 82games.com. They're the basketball equivalent to Fangraphs.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) This is an incredible deal. I don't know how long Thornton has left on that arm, but when healthy, he's one of the best relievers in the game. I'll do some homework later. But has there been a better non-closer in baseball the last three years? One guy that jumps off the top of head is Mike Adams.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) There is always the Yankees to give out stupid long term deals to old players. Not after the Soriano signing.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 03:31 PM) No, they do miss him a bit, I was exaggerating a tad BUT Miami clearly just isn't as good as many of us thought. This team is gone in the 2nd round. I'm not short-changing the Bulls at all. Other than the occasional 'WTF' loss they've been great. I was just responding to lostfan's comment about the Miami half-court offense.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) No, Miami just isn't as good as many of us thought. That could be true. But Haslem is a good mid-range shooter, solid rebounder and defender. Look at that Miami front-court outside of Bosh and tell me they don't miss Haslem.
  23. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 6, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) The Heat's halfcourt offense is so meh... any of the potential opponents they face in the playoffs (save for the Knicks) have a rough halfcourt defense. You'd think that 50-some games into the season they'd have it figured out by now but they don't. Some of that is the absolute udder crap that is Mike Miller. What the hell happened to that dude? He had at least 4 WIDE open 3's in which no Bulls defender was within 5 feet of him and bricked every one of them. And Haslem was a much bigger loss than many thought.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Ozzie isn't happy with today's game. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news...ce=MLBHeadlines The Sox are probably some 40-50 games below .500 in the preseason during the Ozzie era. He should be used to it.
  25. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) Glad everyone survived that draft. And I feel weak at 3B, LF, RF, so feel free to offer some trades. I am willing to trade a RP or two if necessary, even though you need 6 of those guys lol. I can't even begin to think of fair proposals to send out. I need upgrades just about every where outside of SS and probably RF with Heyward. But the rosters are so thin it's going to be impossible to make deals.
