  1. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Feb 8, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) There are a bunch of weak selections to the hall. Miller is weak on paper, but his career was far more memorable than people like Calvin Murphy, Mitch Richmond or Alonzo Mourning. Dennis Johnson looks pretty bad on paper, though he has a lot of defensive accolades. Rodman has already been mentioned. Edit- On second thought, Rodman hasn't been mentioned. If he's in, Wallace definitely should be. He had a few moments, granted huge moments, against the Knicks and a game-winner over MJ. He's severely overrated otherwise. I'd take prime Joe Johnson over Miller and Johnson sure as hell ain't no hall of famer.
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 8, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) for me, it was the tacos comment. it was implied since he is hispanic he naturally will be eating tacos all the time. why not say a hamburger or hot dog. this is another example, if someone said to a african american that he would go on the porch to eat a box of popeye's chicken. or an asian will eat a bowl of rice. it is the implication of the comment that made it wrong. assuming based on how people grew up socially and what was taken for granted. Fixed. God I love their chicken.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 8, 2015 -> 08:44 AM) Ben Wallace? A HOFer? If so, the pro basketball hall of fame has loose requirements. Reggie Miller made it. That's all you need to know.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ Feb 7, 2015 -> 03:38 AM) look at the bulls of the MJ era. MJ needed Scottie to stretch the defense and give the bull another scoring option. they both knew they needed a power forward to help the center to guard the big, scoring power forward of the league, so at the last go around they got Rodman. in the basketball history, there are a 1 in a era superstar. the mantle of super stardom has passed from Kobe to Lefron. i wonder, has anyone identified the next superstar in the making???? How many shots did you have before this post?
  5. QUOTE (Douglas Rome @ Feb 7, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) baseball has been very very good to Diane V. how much has he made in the last 4 or 5 years? More than enough to go back to Havana and sit on his front porch and eat tacos and get big and fat and live like a king. thanks, douglas Would you please stop this? Thanks, snookie lover.
  6. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2015 -> 08:12 PM) The Cavs aren't f***in around anymore. What an amazing job by their front office. They've certainly learned from past mistakes. This is the most stacked team LeBron has ever played on.
  7. Cavs are sexually violating the Clippers.
  8. Hawks win again. 17-0 in January. Amazing. Make that 10 straight for the Cavs, who are now only a game behind the Bulls. They'll come down some. But this is clearly not the same team that was struggling 3 weeks ago. Defense is much improved. LeBron is in "witness" mode. And the two trades they made, especially the Mozgov one, addressed pretty much all of their weaknesses - size, depth, rim protection, etc. All they really lack now is a back-up pg.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) This team is harder to like than previous Bulls teams. Is Derrick even an above average pg right now? His PER and TS% is right in line with Michael Jordan. The Wizards version. He's been painfully inefficient. Let's not even get into his defense.
  10. I've seen enough. The Hawks are for real. Top 5 in offensive and defensive efficiency. BY far the highest SRS (point differential+strength of schedule) in the east. 18 in a row. As of right now. The top 4 in the east are Atlanta, Cleveland, Washington, Chicago.
  11. Cousins and Lillard ARE NOT all-stars this year. And I'm not even mad. The talent in the west is just that good. Best conference ever.
  12. This question is probably for Zoom. Could the Heat have afforded Gasol had LeBron stayed?
  13. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 25, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) This Whiteside guy is good He's got like 5 blocks in 6 minutes. lol.
  14. Klay Thompson in January, playing only 29.8mpg: 26.7ppg/3.5rpg/2.6apg/1.5spg/1.4bpg 54%fg/54%3pt/88%ft 4.2 3pt fg/gm Dude is a superstar. Do Curry/Klay make up the greatest back-court in nba history?
  15. The Warriors are the Spurs on whatever the hell Barry Bonds was on from '01 to '04. They're just incredible. If the Spurs (I don't think they will) get through the west this time around then they are officially the greatest dynasty in nba history, imo.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 08:42 PM) This team has such little fire. Also, f*** Mozgov. Not sure yet about Smith and Shumpert. But Mozgov was a hell of an addition.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) Getting blown out by a s***ty team. Terrible. They've lost to Indiana, Orlando and Utah at home. Those are s***ty teams. Cleveland, especially with their recent additions, has more upside than any team in the east.
  18. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) This is going to be a pessimistic post for y'all. Don't want to overreact but this isn't a title contending team, and it isn't just because of the last 2 weeks. This team is very much above average, but they have not been dominant and blowing teams out at ANY POINT this season. Even in wins, they were barely winning, and championship teams don't do that. The point differential is simply bad for a team with a 27-15 record. This team has a lot of players who are good at what they do, but has tremendous flaws in other parts of the game. Watching Gasol play defense makes me puke. Brooks is one of the worst defenders in the league. Noah probably couldn't score with a 6 foot rim. Hinrich had his moments but is horrendous otherwise. You can use "when healthy" as a condition all you want, but with the injury history of this roster, "when healthy" would be wishful thinking. Are you the new me? I post this and all hell breaks loose. You're more pessimistic now than you were from '11 to '14 when the Bulls had NO chance of beating Miami. I think as long as guys aren't dead come April the Bulls have as good a chance as any to win the east.
  19. 6 Super Bowl appearances since 2001. Nothing turns me on more in sports than sustained excellence. The Pats are amazing.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) I'd rather the T-Wolves get Okafor to pair with Wiggins rather than the Knicks.... Same. That'd be a potential poor man's Shaq/Kobe.
  21. Wiggins is blowin' up again. 27 points on 10/12 (4/4 from 3) through 3 quarters vs Denver. Don't let the Wolves get Okafor.
  22. For the first time in my life the Hawks look like something more than second round fodder.
  23. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) I get that LeBron is older and has a ton mileage. My point still stands, he is no longer an elite defender. If you still think he is (you probably do), then you're a bigger nut than I am. Can he play DPOY-type D all game, every game as he did from '09 through '13? I'm thinking no. But if *insert name* is going off and you need somebody to cool him off, yes, LeBron is most definitely capable of doing that more times than not.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 09:03 AM) Well, Jordan's age 32 season was the year they won 72. My memories of Mike's defense that season only involve the NBA Finals, where The Glove was supposed to be the guy who slowed him down and then Michael dismantled him on both sides of the ball. 1996 was actually his worst finals by far. Slightly over 27 ppg on 41.5% from the field and just over 31% from 3 (with a shorter line, mind you). So not sure where you're coming from here. Anyway, point is I've seen at least 10 different posts in this thread calling out LeBron's defense. It's getting silly. As I've pointed out, the guy has been playing 38-40 mpg since he was 18. In the playoffs (158 games), he's at 42.5 mpg. He participated in the '04, '08, and '12 Olympics. At 30, it's a shock to some that he's not playing all-world defense with all of his other responsibilities? I mean, yeah, that clip Kyyle posted was bad. But he can't post that in 1992 or 1998. If he/we could, we'd be able to catch MJ being lazy/sleepwalking/etc on individual plays and make a big deal out of it.
  25. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 17, 2015 -> 06:33 AM) He hasn't been trying on defense for a couple of seasons now...elite defenders (which is what LeBron is supposed to be) don't give up Finals MVPs to their defensive covers. And it wasn't like Leonard was a top 10 player at that point either. LeBron is overrated on D, IMO. lol. gmab. Kawhi Leonard was/is one of the emerging young stars in the league. A physical freak. Him winning finals mvp (he did nothing the first 2 games) was about his evolution as a player, not LeBron's lack of defense. Is LeBron playin' d like he did in 2009 or like he did in the '11 conference finals when he made mvp Rose his b****? No. But he's 30 now and has logged well over 40,000 minutes in his career, not to mention 3 Olympics. If you think MJ (you probably do) was playing defense at 30/31 like he did when he was 25 then you're a nut.
