White Sox targeting Carl Crawford
QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) Haha this is great. And the sox made a play for Halladay, made a bid for Arod, etc etc. Just another name anyone would want but the sox will never make a real splash for. lol. Totally forgot about Halladay and the "Greatest rotation in history" fluff from KW.

ALDS: Twins vs. Yankees
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) The AL Central is the worst division in the AL. Look how stacked the Yankees lineup is. Berkman is batting 8th. LOL. The Twins were WAY overrated because they beat up on the teams in the central. There record against the AL east was a losing one at 15-20. You can't just throw that out and say this is another year it'll be different in the playoffs. Homefield advantage is also overrated as well. I think it's funny Twins fans want to see Gardy fired because he can't get past the Yankees. What does this say about the Sox?

ALDS: Twins vs. Yankees
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 04:16 PM) Biggest difference between Twins of the 2nd half and Twins thru first 2 games is Mauer and Thome were two of the best hitters on the planet since the ASB, and they've both been awful vs the Yankees so far. I'm pretty sure Mauer led the AL in hitting since the ASB, and Thome led the AL in OPS. You would be right on both counts. Mauer hit a league-leading .373 the second half while Thome sported a league-leading 1.158 OPS the second half. Personally, I think this Twins team is outstanding and arguably the best all around team in the AL. They just don't match-up well with the Yankees. It's really that simple.

ALDS: Twins vs. Yankees
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) An expert on the radio said it best, the Twins are built to win the regular season but are not suited for the playoffs while the White Sox were better suited for the playoffs especially this year. The Twins pitchers are good at grinding out regular season games but do not hold up in the playoffs. The way the expert put it, made much more sense to me than how I stated it. This could very well be the case. Or it could be they just don't match-up with a $200 million dollar all-star team.

White Sox targeting Carl Crawford
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) How does Crawford's defense help as a CF. Moving him to CF and Rios to RF may be good or bad. I'd like to also see how Crawford projects as a RF although he would be back in LF after next year. There's really not much to go by. He's started a grand total of 47 games in CF in his career. His arm sure as hell wouldn't play in RF. And I'm pretty sure Crawford wouldn't want to play any other position besides LF anyway.

NBA Predictions - (Predictabulls Part II)
I'm not going to get into seedings. The Heat, Magic and Celtics should be the top 3 from the east. While the Lakers, Thunder and Blazers (Blazers if healthy are ridiculously talented) are my top 3 from the west. Heat vs Lakers (shocking) with the Heat winning rather easily in 5. As for the Bulls? I'm not nearly as optimistic as some. They should win 45-48 games (50 tops). Should win at least one playoff series depending on who they play. But they're not a title contender in the least. Oh, and people picking Kobe to win the MVP are nuts. His MVP in '08 was more of a "I guess will give it to you since you've been around for so long" award. And he's just never been statistically dominant enough across the board to garner much consideration. It's either going to be LeBron, Durant or Anthony.

Question of the Day...
Hell no. This isn't the NBA where I could make the HOF. I like that baseball, for the most part, has some pretty high standards to who they do and don't let in.

White Sox targeting Carl Crawford
QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) Crawford hit 19 homeruns this year. Not to mention 43 doubles/triples. A slugging % of .495. That's hardly "slappy."

White Sox targeting Carl Crawford
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) Crawford was a 6.8 WAR player this season. That is outstanding. (Konerko was a 4.2) He's worth $20M per. By this logic guys like Adrian Beltre and Jose Bautista are worth 20 million. I love the WAR stat. But no way in hell Crawford is worth 20 million.

NLDS: Giants vs. Braves
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 8, 2010 -> 02:24 AM) http://pinetarandpocketprotectors.wordpres...eason-faze-you/ Some fun facts about these guys' respective starts. It's like Cliff Lee's gem never happened. This has been a special year for starting pitchers.

NLDS: Giants vs. Braves
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 11:51 PM) And here you wanted Reds/Giants the whole time. I feel like you've cheated on me. Halladay and Lincecum got me doin' a total 180. It's rare for two pitchers of this caliber to have the October stage the same year. I know one thing, I'm clearing my schedule for any potential Halladay/Lincecum showdown(s). Hopefully a family member doesn't die or something and the funeral is scheduled the same night.

NLDS: Giants vs. Braves
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) Lincecum vs. Halladay will be beautiful. Philly has a better starting staff and is the better team though. Hamels > Sanchez. But Sanchez is one of those guys that dazzles when he's on. Roy/Oswalt vs Lincy/Cain is a wash. And the Giants easily have the better bullpen. But the Phillies obviously have the better offense. Will be a sick match-up if it happens.
-
NLDS: Giants vs. Braves
We might be in for an epic NLCS with these two pitching staffs (Philles/Giants).
-
NLDS: Giants vs. Braves
Lincecum might've topped Roy tonight. This is amazing.

NLDS: Giants vs. Braves
QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) What a start by Lincecum. 12 Ks. That's the Tim Lincecum I know... Don't think I've ever seen a combination of utterly dominant Game 1 pitching performances in my nearly 20 years as a baseball fan.

Players who failed when it counts/against the Twins
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) Well we need some better hitters to come out of our system. Watching these playoff games, it seems like most of the hitters on these teams are tough outs. We don't have many tough outs. Juan Pierre should teach all our young guys how to foul off pitches instead of popping them up. He is able to wait for HIS pitch more than anybody. He's the only guy on our team that really sets up pitchers. I don't want Juan Pierre teaching our young guys anything. Even when he's good, he sucks.

White Sox targeting Carl Crawford
Yawnnnnnnnnnnnn. And that's not a diss at you, Bucket of suck. You're just reporting what you heard. We've got no chance at Crawford. I ain't about to get excited about this.

ALDS: Twins vs. Yankees
I'm done watching this series. I hate the Twins. But I can't f***ing cheer for the Yankees. I don't know how unless it clearly benefited the Sox.

Players who failed when it counts/against the Twins
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 01:13 PM) The bar keeps changing, that's the problem. All regular season long we hear how anything but winning the World Series is a failure. Then when the Twins beat us out, it is all about how we should be like the Twins. Then when the Twins playoff record comes up it doesn't matter what they do the in post-season anymore. In that first standard, there really isn't a difference between winning 88 games and staying home and winning 94 and being the Yankees b****. Again, I don't care what the Twins do in the playoffs. And I never said I wanted to emulate them. I've said repeatedly that the Phillies are the team I want to emulate because they're outstanding and I feel getting to their level is realistic, unlike the Yankees because they play by a totally different set of rules.

ALDS: Rays vs. Rangers
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) Ya I was overreacting on purpse, semi sarcastic, but Rangers are making the *best* team in the *best* division look like a little b****. Props to them. Good. I thought you were being serious. Otherwise I wouldn't have said anything. And I honestly don't think there's a 'best' team in the AL. All 4 teams have legitimate flaws. I think the Rays are a really good team. But since that freakish 32-12 start, they've been rather ordinary. Their offense is average at best (maybe even below average) outside of Crawford/Longoria. And their rotation is nothing to get loud about after Price and Garza (the latter being wildly inconsistent). They do have a great bullpen, though.

ALDS: Rays vs. Rangers
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) How so? They are embarrasing the Rays right now. Just like: Cincy WILL LOSE but not because they don't have talent. Guess what 'esse' they will lose the series because they don't have enough talent. Dude, you just predicted Texas to go 11-0. That's not comparable to me saying the Reds will probably lose but not from lack of talent. The Phillies are just f***ing better.

Trade Candidates for Kenny this offseason
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Getting back on topic: Ill throw my favorite tools man crush B.J. Upton into the mix. If you put that guy next to Rios and actually teach him some mental discipline; you’ll have a hell of a ballplayer. That being said it’s easier said than done. They'd have to be blown away to deal him. He's still cheap and under control for two more years. He's only 26 and even though he's underachieved his skill-set, in particular his speed/defense, is rivaled by very few in baseball. And his power picked up considerably towards the end of the year. I'd kill for either him or Kemp. These are the kinda guys you take major gambles on. The possible reward far outweighs the risk.

Rick Hahn
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 03:31 PM) And the Sox are doing that with cheaper players. They are able to overcompensate for players because they fill the rest of the team with cheap players. So what if they all didn't come directly from the Sox's draft scouting offices. Most of those guys usually don't work, but at the same time, they acquired Floyd, Danks, Jenks, CQ, Ramirez, Teahan, Jones all on the cheap. They have Beckham at 2B, AJ doesn't cost that much at all, and Freddy was their opening day 5th starter. They have guys like Santos and Thornton in the bullpen who were both acquired cheaply. Kotsay is a cheap player. Wrong, the Sox are attempting to do that with perpetual reclamation projects (i.e. guys 5-7 years past their primes) because they've failed miserably at drafting/developing (though they're just now picking up the pace in that department). I give them credit for Floyd, Danks and CQ (though the latter is looking like a 1-year wonder). Jenks was five years ago and he's a burden now. Ramirez has been a pleasant surprise. Teahen, Jones and Kotsay all, well, suck. A.J. is declining in every possible way and not getting any younger. Santos is still an unknown and obviously they get props for Thornton. Huh? Nobody is saying you have to have 25 market value contracts on the team. Who cares whether or not Jackson is the most overpaid player on the team. Point is he will be overpaid next year for what he's accomplished to this point. And if he does finally have a good year, will lose him anyway because he'll be looking to get paid and we don't deal with his agent. You've got to be kidding me? ERA+? S.A.M.P.L.E.S.I.Z.E. Daniel Hudson had an ERA+ of 251 with Arizona. What's your point? ERA+ of 167 with the Dodgers? That came in like 20 innings. lol. Jackson has put together 1 good half in his career. This is fact. Maybe there's a reason he keeps getting traded? Guys that are actually good don't get traded every year.

ALDS: Rays vs. Rangers
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 7, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) Bit late to catch the game but Texas is dealing on the road, I don't see them losing a game rest of the postseason. Yikes! Failure.
