  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:20 AM) People keep saying this.. not that I don't agree with it cause I do... but it isn't too far-fetched to think the man would do anything to get a ring, even play with a guy almost as good as you, legacy or not. I never thought Pierce, Garnett and Allen would ever co-exist with one basketball, but they made it work. I still think he won't go there however, but if Miami somehow trades Beasley... things might get more interesting. The Celtics trio is not comparable. One, none of the three, even in their primes, were comparable players to Lebron (well, maybe KG was close). Lebron has been the undisputed best player in the league for the last two years and is right smack in his prime. Two, it's not like Lebron is 31 or 32 and in a position that he has to sacrifice individual glory for the sake of a title (like the Celtics trio did). Wade's got a ring already. And he obviously didn't need Lebron for that. If Lebron were to win a ring with Wade it would be more like no s***. You better f***ing damn well win a ring with an undisputed top 5 player in the league who's in his prime and already won one without you. That's not going to do much for his legacy, IMO. And then Bosh as your THIRD option? I mean c'mon. If Lebron is the ego maniac we all know he is, he's not goin' for that.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:09 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?i...DALLASHeadlines Lebron, Wade, and Bosh met in Miami Monday night. Doesn't mean a thing as far as I'm concerned. Lebron is not going to play with Wade.
  3. Nyjer Morgan makes Scott Podsednik look like Chase Utley when it comes to baserunning. The Nationals were playing much better BEFORE Strasburg was called up. They've gone back to being the Nationals ever since.
  4. That's f***ing awful. As a baseball fan, you hate to see that happen...even if it's a player from a rival team. Zumaya is electrifying when healthy.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) That pitch was right down the f***ing middle. Alexei really is a terrible offensive player. I had zero confidence he was going to come through in that situation. Does he have a "clutch" hit since the slam against Detroit?
  6. QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Jesus the Mariners won 116 games that year? Wow. You didn't know that? And they would've set the single-season record for most wins in a season if they hadn't blown a 14-2 7th inning lead on a Sunday night in August against the Indians.
  7. Gotta start somewhere. Hopefully CQ will win 3 or 4 more of these before the year is up.
  8. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 11:21 PM) Chad Ford gives this funny story on Simmons podcast: That's borderline obsession.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) Broxton blows a save, gives up 3 runs, game going extra innings. Chase Utley is no longer the best 2B in baseball.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) Is Luke Gregerson somebody that will actually have a successful career in the bigs, or just another fluke reliever? Looks legit. Other than his walks, which are considerably lower this year, he was doing pretty much the same thing in '09.
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 11:25 PM) He will pitch on Friday with 2 extra days off. As far as Tampa, BJ Upton and Evan Longoria got into it in the dugout today. They are having some issues. Longoria was dead-on. Upton was loafing not once but twice defensively. Considering his talent/skillset he's unquestionably the biggest underachiever in baseball right now.
  12. If Ozzie's just saying whatever to show supreme faith in his guys, fine. If he really believes this team is fine as is, he's a f***ing idiot. Either way, this is on KW from this point on. He's the only voice that matters to me.
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Wow, Mark Kotsay is our DH and Ozzie's cool with it? I don't buy that. It could be just fluff. It still annoys me. Because with Ozzie you don't know if he really means it or not. I had no problem with his comments before the season. But you would think nearly three months in you could recognize the obvious weaknesses.
  14. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) If the Twins go out and get Cliff Lee, then you better believe that Kenny will try and top/match that as far as big splash. But, but, how would the Twins' players react to this? Like, wouldn't that be the ultimate slap in their faces to go out and add one of the best pitchers in baseball? Liriano would never recover!
  15. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) A manager telling the press that he wants his GM to add to his roster suggests that he lacks confidence in his players. So of course Ozzie's going to tell the media that he doesn't want to add anybody. That was cute before the season started. But 11 games doesn't change the fact this team is lacking offensively. I don't think certain guys would be traumatized if Ozzie could act like a normal manager for once and say something like "whatever makes us better."
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) What does this even mean? Bye bye Ozzie. Are you going somewhere? Because Ozzie isn't. You've had enough? So what? You have no say in this what so ever, so it doesn't matter. What is Ozzie supposed to say, "I want a new ________" (fill in the blank) and then who ever is filling that role at the time is spending the next few weeks looking over their shoulder? Oh yeah. I thought me saying bye, bye Ozzie meant Jerry was going to look at my post and fire him. GMAB. Of course Ozzie isn't going anywhere...for now. But if you think he's got life-long job security because of one fluke year you're crazy. How any sane manager could look at this offense and say "add nobody" and mean it? Well, there's really nothing to say.
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) lol @ the people who thought Jenks should be on the All-Star team The people? You mean greg?
  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) Kenny should be going bye bye too if he agrees to this. Not gonna happen. No way in hell Kenny makes the same mistake twice. There's a division to be won. KW will do whatever it takes within his power.
  19. Bye, bye, Ozzie. I've had enough of his crap. But I'm pretty certain Kenny won't make the same mistake twice.
  20. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 04:59 PM) "The bottom line for the Bulls is that on paper they have no equal. Their team, and the way it's constructed for the future right now, speaks for itself. Far louder than whatever crazy sales pitch any team could come up with. All that Forman really has to do now during his visit with James is slide over a piece of paper that says this: Chicago Bulls 2010-2011 LeBron James -- 25 Chris Bosh -- 26 Joakim Noah -- 25 Luol Deng -- 25 Derrick Rose -- 21 Taj Gibson -- 25" Deng=yuck. That contract extension was questionable at best when it was originally signed. If that turns out to prohibit us from being able to sign both Lebron and Bosh (we still don't have the cap space to sign two max free agents) I'll puke every day for the rest of my life.
  21. I concur. 11 in a row is 11 in a row. Right back in this thing. But now it's back to the AL and reality. Will see just how good this team is.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) This is almost cruel. I'm actually having trouble sleeping because of this. I promised myself a few weeks ago I would hope for the best but ultimately expect the worse. But all the pro-Bulls articles, quotes, ect is making that pretty impossible. I've been over at realgm quite a bit the last couple weeks. And you can really sense the fear in other teams' fanbases (mainly eastern conference teams). With Lebron and Bosh in the fold with what we already have, a 90's-like run would be almost a formality.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 03:39 PM) I think it's the combination of the winning streak coming to an end and it coming at the hands of the lowly Cubs. With this pitching matchup, this is a game where the odds were stacked in our favor, especially after getting the quick 2-0 lead. Johnny just didn't have it today and we let Dempster get in a rhythm after having him on the ropes early. Oh well, you can't win them all. Need to get another winning streak started tomorrow. Anybody who's paid any attention to the Sox over the last 10 years should've expected a loss today. We almost NEVER sweep the Cubs after taking the first two games of a series. It's an automatic loss every single time (save 2008). It really is annoying.
  24. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 08:55 AM) what's with all the teahen love now? having teahen back means our defense will suck again at third, part of the reason why we have been good lately is vizquel's defense at third. LaRoche is not a liability defensively like Teahen is, he can more than enough handle first base. teahen is always going to be a bottom of the order hitter, will not hit over 16 HR, or be a run producer. but LaRoche could be a number 5 or 6 hitter for the sox and hitter over 30 HR while playing good defense, all that for 4.5 million/yr also, we do not have the $$ or the 'spects to acquire a big name like AGon, if he is even available. Do you really want a 43-year old starting at a physically demanding position like 3B every day?
  25. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 09:39 AM) I've been saying it all along, LBJ won't play with Wade in Miami. Yup. Lebron wants help. But not THAT much help.
