  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) This mock draft has Wimmers and Workman in the 20's, and the Sox taking a high school SS. http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft-2010 I don't know, man. Here's what I think: 1. Harper-Was 2. Taillon- Pit 3. Machado-Bal 4. Grandal-KC 5. Pomeranz-Cle 6. Harvey- Arz 7. O'Conner- NYM 8. Sale-Hou 9. Choice- SD 10. Colon- Oak 11. Cox- Tor 12. McGuire- Cin The Sox? No clue. I hope it's not a pitcher. Take a shot at a bat, and worry about pitching from rounds 2-8, or whatever. I'll be f***ing pissed if the Red Sox get Ranaudo and Wilson.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) All I know is he has an amazing scouting video. I bet he goes towards the end of the first round, with a possibility the Cubs take him if O'Connor goes to the Mets. Yup. I've seen a couple of them. You don't have to be much of a talent evaluator to see Jonathan Broxton all over this kid.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) If this was an attempt at humor, I give it a thumbs up. It worked. I really did laugh out loud.
  4. I don't know how this old, decrepit ass team does it.
  5. So what's the scoop on Stetson Allie? I did read somewhere that he could possibly slip to the 2nd round despite possessing first round talent. It just doesn't appear that he will be able to stick as a starter. Broxton is a pretty easy comparison.
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 09:44 PM) Nothing like watching the Sox getting owned by Cleveland. Now this is what I call a productive post. Only 5 hours after a nice come-from-behind win.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Terrible coaching by Rivers sticking with Garnett. Rasheed Wallace has played significantly better than Garnett tonight. He's got as many fouls as points/rebounds combined. You or I could be out there in place of KG and you wouldn't see a difference.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Plus we haven't made a "safe" pick for four years now. Really if you look at it, we have taken safe players (meaning low ceiling college pitchers) only a few times. Thinking back to guys like Fields and Borchard that were projects, Gio and Honel were HS pitchers, throw in Brian Anderson. I know there is Broadway and McCollough, but that is about it. Don't forget the Royce Ring debacle. That one still boggles the mind. But it's a combination of safe and cheap (not to mention just flat out missing over and over and over) that have the Sox in the position they're in now.
  9. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) It's easy for us to say the pick needs to be a high upside, projectable talent, but the Sox surely can't afford to miss on a 1st rounder with the lack of depth in the organization. Safe might be the right way to go tomorrow. This was quite the oxymoron.
  10. Kevin Garnett needs to get off the court, as he is a total liability out there.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) So Wilson/Ranaudo will be available at #14 as well I know. Just saying.
  12. It's looking like a foregone conclusion that one of Wilson/Ranaudo will be available at #13.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) SheWill doing his best Jay Cutler impression at the end of the half. Celtics might as well be losing with how disturbed they look after how the 1st half ended. They should probably be up 20. They were very sloppy to end the half. And they can't grab a defensive rebound to save their f***in' lives.
  14. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) If we reach for Loux, it's no better than the Kyle McCulloch pick. This system is in dire need of talent and potential over safe signs. All the mocks I've seen have Loux going at the end of the first round and into the compensation round. It'd be a joke of epic proportion if he's the pick.
  15. Ray Allen is the best long-range shooter in NBA history.
  16. f*** it. I just can't give up on this team yet. This will be THE game that starts THE run. And I'm not kidding.
  17. Ubaldo Jimenez has an ERA+ of 572. Um, I think that's somewhat good.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) That dude's got one hell of a fastball. He must be terrible at locating his pitches. His stuff does does not translate to his numbers at all. Even his xFIP is 4.46.
  19. Why the hell can't I catch your ass in Zoom's league? Happy B-day.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 02:16 PM) That Beckham guy we tried out last year looked pretty good and I thought he was pretty young? Whatever happened to him? GB is starting from scratch as far as I'm concerned. All the good that was last year has been twice as bad this year. I'd feel a lot better if he had been injured or something like that.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) Rumor has it that Mike Stanton has been called up by the Marlins. There are some terrific young players in baseball. I wish the Sox had a few more. Hopefully Dayan Viciedo, Trayce Thompson and Jared Mitchell pan out. Can't have a few more when you have none to begin with (well, aside from Danks).
  22. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) I can't wait to see this game. I'm sure he'll feel like he's still pitching against San Diego State competition. He's in line to face the Pirates, Indians, White Sox, Orioles, Padres, Braves and Giants leading up to the all-star break. Other than the Braves, those are some pretty bad offenses. When you look at what a guy like Mike Leake is doing, it's terrifying (for the NL at least) to think of what Strasburg could do.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) Great ending to the Pirates/Giants game last night with Milledge making a fantastic diving catch to preserve the win. Is Andrew McCutcheon the best young offensive player in baseball? That would be Longoria. But yeah, McCutchen is pretty damn spectacular. The dreaded sophomore slump certainly hasn't gobbled him up into the baseball abyss of suckage (Beckham). He's the only reason to watch that team whatsoever. Imagine him in a legitimate lineup? I really hope the Pirates take Machado. That'd be a hell of a core to build around in McCutchen, Alvarez and Machado.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) The thing is, KW hasn't exactly proven that he can trade veterans for a good package of prospects. If anything, that's been one of his major weaknesses as a GM. To be fair, how often has KW had a player of Rios' caliber to dangle?
