  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 31, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) You could not have been more right. Lincecum has really struggled mentally and has allowed 5 BBs this game in 5.2 IP giving up 4 ER and 6 hits (could have been more) and only 3 Ks. Jimenez on the other hand so far has 8 Ks, 1 BB and only 2 hits in 5 IP. He has just been dominant this whole game clearly outshining Timmy. Very nice call/pwnage on your end. Didn't realize Timmy was really laboring that much recently. Yeah, gotta give Shack some props. Lincy doesn't look right at the moment. And Ubaldo is basically Bob Gibson.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) I'll admit the NL is easier for starting pitchers because they get to face the pitcher which is the closest thing to an automatic out in baseball. However, people blow the difference dramatically out of proportion. Vazquez, Javy. That's all you really need to know. And it's not coincidence that guys like Brad Penny, Jon Garland, John Smoltz (last year), ect, get anally raped in the AL, get traded or signed by an NL team, only to prosper. There have been extensive studies done over the last decade or so detailing the differences between the two leagues. And it's not just because the pitcher might bat three times a game.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2010 -> 02:09 AM) Lincecum was woefully inept last start, and has struggled in his last two starts. His last start, he refused to even check the runners on base before he pitched. I'm sure he'll come to play, but I expect Jimenez to outshine him somewhat easily. No way. Pitching match-ups like these bring the best out of guys. It's like when Lebron/Kobe match-up. You know they're bringin' it even harder than usual. I expect Lincy to meet the challenge.
  4. Jimenez vs Lincecum at 3:05 on MLB Network. If that doesn't get you horny, buy some viagra (yes, I know that was lame as hell). You guys get the point, though.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 31, 2010 -> 01:32 AM) Garland is pitching out of his mind. However, him, Ely, and Contreras are showing how weak the NL is. None of them would be this good in the AL. They'd still be good, just not as much. You're right about Ely and Garland. Contreras, however, would fare just fine in the AL as a set-up man/closer.
  6. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ May 31, 2010 -> 01:05 AM) I completely missed this. When did Posey get called up? Saturday.
  7. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) Yeah, he's improved... But then again many hitters struggle in April and breakout in May. Beckham (outside of 1 good game here or there) and Quentin (outside of maybe a 1 week stretch earlier this month) haven't shown any significant signs of improvement, and the season is more or less a 1/3 over with. If they don't show any signs of improvement, they don't deserve to play in the bigs. Letting them fight through their struggles at the MLB level has worked so well, right? Why not try a different approach? On a side note, I'm indifferent on Stubbs. He seems like a decent player, but isn't and likely never will be a world beater. And it is like comparing apples and oranges with Stubbs and Beckham/Quentin considering Stubbs has never been on their level. Point was Reds fans we're calling for Stubbs to be sent down just three short weeks ago. They (the Reds) stuck with him and it's paid off. It's not about being a "world-beater." Whatever that is. And it's not about being on Beckham and Quentin's level. I was just throwing out an example of a highly touted prospect that had some initial success, struggled mightily, only to turn it around while remaining with the big league club. That's all.
  8. You guys are crazy. Kobe could have yours, mine or anybody's elses GF/wife if he wanted. He didn't rape that tramp. She voluntarily went to his hotel room by herself late at night for what? Milk and cookies?
  9. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 31, 2010 -> 12:17 AM) Yeah, cause he has really lit the baseball world on fire. Oh, I didn't know you had to be 2003 Barry Bonds to show considerable improvement as the year has gone on. Stubbs in April: .186/.301/.271 Stubbs in May: .271/.333/.510
  10. Drew Stubbs is a good example of how letting a guy work through his problems at the big league level can pay dividends. And he doesn't have anywhere near the pedigree Beckham does.
  11. Free advice from J4L: DO NOT run 90 minutes in 90 degree heat. I literally almost passed out.
  12. QUOTE (T R U @ May 30, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) I don't understand how anyone can like Kobe Bryant.. dude is a rapist and a jackass, ill scream if he wins another title.. You really think he raped that slut?
  13. I'd said before the series that I'd be ecstatic with a split (3/4 would've been just cause for a parade). That said, this team has to go on an extended run sometime soon. Win one, lose one, win two, lose two is simply not going to get it done.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 30, 2010 -> 05:46 PM) Still, you are gonna take him out in the middle of an inning? I'll excuse the pitch count argument because there are concerns with shoulder fatigue, but why in earth do you take him out in the middle of an inning. He had walked and hit the last two batters he faced. And it was only a 3-0 game at the time. It was the right move. For selfish reasons, I wanted him to stay in there. 20 K's would've been a cinch it not for the high pitch count.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) The Cards walk out of Chicago having picked up a game on them, and now head off to face off with the Reds. Order was restored. Cubs fans were getting a little loud after yesterday's game.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 30, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) because he threw 113 pitches..? Bingo. That's the one negative when you're blowing everybody away. He had 20+ K stuff today. I actually think 20 K's should be the "new" no-hitter.
  17. Buster Posey with an RBI double. Now 4/6 with 4 RBIs so far. Make that 6/8.
  18. QUOTE (T R U @ May 30, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Putz and Jenks
  19. Was I the only one that had flashbacks of the ball bouncing off Podsednik's head a few years ago?
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 30, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) LOL, of course he does that after I mention how I think a bullpen role might be the best role for him. I read somewhere a week or so ago that they noticed something in his mechanics that was hindering his overall velocity. Velocity was not a problem today. Whatever they saw, they fixed it and then some. He was spectacular. I implore EVERYONE to catch the highlights at MLB.COM.
  21. Like I said, as long as the Cardinals have the big 4, they'll be just fine.
  22. Did anybody just see what Max Scherzer did to the A's? OH MY f***ING GOD!!!!! That was worse than child molestation. 14 K's in 5 2/3 IP. His FB was consistently 94-97 (hit 99 once). His change-up was a full 3-4 MPH higher than it had been all season. His slider, the few times he threw it, looked Marmol-esque. From a pure dominance standpoint, that was the best single-game performance I've seen from a pitcher all year.
  23. Score one for Kenny Williams. Alex Rios is too much.
  24. If Jermaine Dye would ever come down from his high-horse, he could be a decent fit for the Angels. Ryan Garko is another guy I read they could be interested in.
  25. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 30, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) There's a significant difference between treading water without your best player and playing Robb Quinlan every-day at 1b. I think the Angels realize that their best option is to go out of house. Now, this could mean Paulie, A-Gone, Adam Dunn, whatever. They're not burdened with an over-abundance of choice in the matter. They're below .500 with Kendry. They're not going to get any better with a worse 1B in Konerko. And you're right. They look stuck between a rock and a hard place. If we lose Alex Rios, does Kenny bend over and let another GM fist-f*** him? I'd hope not.
