  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 13, 2010 -> 01:24 AM) Derek Holland (who was brutal last year for Texas, though that was Texas' fault for pretty much making him skip AAA) gets called up after owning in AAA and gives a good outing against the A's. 6 IP 5 H 0 R 0 ER 1 BB 7 SO Texas calling up their future this season. (Smoak/Holland/Ramirez) Gotta figure guys like Scheppers, Strop/Hunter, Perez, etc.. are not far behind. Still need work on drafting pitching, but not a bad future for them. He's not really a "prospect" by true definition anymore. But they've got a guy, and I'm sure you've heard of him, named Alexi Ogando. Visa problems and some shady s*** he was into had kept him from the states until this year. He was drafted by the A's as an OF before Texas scooped him up in the '05 Rule 5 draft and converted him into a pitcher. He went straight to AA and dominated. He's already been promoted to AAA. His FB tops out at 98 and he's got two + secondary pitches. The Rangers have some disgustingly good young arms either up or on the way. Kinda jealous.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 12, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) This is another clear example of why Greg Walker needs to go now. Im a fan of the whole hands off approach, make minor suggestions or alterations from there. But there is a clear hole in Beckham's swing and approach that needs to be fixed. The way he holds his hands is just awful. Sure, he was able to get away with due to his high talent level, you dont hit the way he did in college, the minors, and last year without having a ton of talent. However, pitchers see his weakness and they have been relentless exploiting it this whole year, and Beckham has yet to make a single adjustment. Watch every Beckham AB closely, overwhelmingly, you will see breaking stuff outside and fastballs out of the zone inside. If he re-adjusted his hands and held his bat up in a more classic position, he'd see much better results. The way he holds his bat now is just wrong and you'll never really see that with any professional hitters. Sure, it worked for him for a while, but it dont work no more. Does Walker get any credit for PK, Jones and Rios?
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ May 12, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) Kobe Bryant was a superior player at 25 than LeBron. so was MJ. MJ? yes. Kobe? Let me get a hit of whatever it is you're smokin'. That must be some potent s***. Lebron's last two years trump ANYTHING Kobe has ever done over a full season. If you're just talking basketball skills, Kobe's a better shooter. Maybe a slightly better post-player. But that is all.
  4. QUOTE (Cali @ May 12, 2010 -> 11:39 PM) Before we get too excited about Short, lets all remember Jeremy Reed his .400 too, and he could take a walk.... Talk about a buzzkill.
  5. Strasburg's line tonight: 6 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K. I guess the "benefits" of failing in the minors first aren't going to happen. Looks like June 8th is the target date for the big league call up. I've already circled that day on my calender. I can't wait.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 12, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) Yes Cleveland, boo the one man who could end your city long drought and help him decide to leave. Also, allow LeBron to pick his coach. Lebron was awful last night. He's not above being booed. And no, NO player should ever be allowed to pick his coach.
  7. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Aobt...liersunraveling God let the Celtics win tomorrow.
  8. Break up those Nationals. I love it when K-rod gets owned. Tyler Clippard with his 7th win. lol. He might end up with more wins than Greinke this year.
  9. I don't care what anyone says. And this pains me greatly to say this. But when Carlos Marmol is throwing strikes, he's the most untouchable non-starter in baseball. That includes Rivera, Broxton. Anybody. 33 Ks in 16 IP? That's like a K/9 of 19 or some s***. That's beyond video game.
  10. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:59 PM) i sure hope not as valentin was my least favorite sox player of all time How is this possible?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) All right you two, knock off the personal stuff. What did I do? lol. I'm serious.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) Would you stop acting like a 12 year old child? Half of your posts the last two months in my direction are criticizing my posting "style." Do you want me to copy and paste all the examples? Did I run over your pet gerbil or something? I mean, can't you find something else to give your life meaning? Somebody pissed in your spaghettiOs. And it wasn't me.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) To be a closer or good reliever, the main thing to do is throw strikes, which is what most if not all Twins pitchers are good at. Hey, he's getting it done to this point. I just don't see it lasting.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) Someone said how do the Twins do it.... A lot of role players and journeymen play like All-Stars there, for whatever reason. Really, I don't want to argue about every single post, I'm not in the mood. Find someone else to try to bully around. It's enough. lol. What's your problem? You said the Sox almost lured "us" back to caring. All I said was speak for yourself. And you weren't even involved in the post you're talking about now. Paranoid much?
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) Seriously. Who can't retire Sox hitters easily? I'm talking about his season overall. He's got one good pitch. And it's hardly a dominant one.
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) If the Twins get a 3B by the deadline (maybe another arm in the bullpen though Rauch is shutting me up about the closer role) than the Twins should be in real good shape to take the division. Nick Punto is not going to cut it come playoff time. Rauch doesn't impress me one bit. I don't expect him to keep this up.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) Jason Tyner. Matt Le Croy. Denny Hocking. Mike Redmond. Henry Blanco. Punto. Bartlett. Lew Ford. Rauch. Guerrier. Neshek. By the way, TMK is a great hitter just hitting in really bad luck. Thunder said the closer position was overrated. Not every position on the field.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) Such a big game psychologically. They almost lured us back into caring about this season, only to cut out our hearts again. Speak for yourself. I haven't stopped caring.
  19. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) only scored in 2 of the 18 innings vs the Twins. It doesnt even bother me anymore. It shouldn't. This offense is simply not going to take off until CQ, Beckham get going. There's really nothing that can be done. Ozzie can move guys all over the place. Guys need to hit.
  20. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:36 PM) The Twins prove this every year at every position it seems This really made no sense.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Finally living up to his potential. Huh? A middle-reliever, set-up man turned temporary closer is not what I call living up to his potential.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Jayson Nix, Jordan Danks, Tyler Flowers, C.J. Retherford, Josh Kroeger, and anyone else you want to throw in there. Freeing up Kotsay's roster spot will allow us to give at-bats to one of the younger kids. Bat's that should me made easier to come by, especially when we're no longer in contention. Jordan Danks? lol. I guess it would be kinda cool to see somebody make Chris Davis look like Ichiro.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) Hitting the ball hard, aren't we? Yup.
  24. QUOTE (Real @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) like i said, pavano is cruising, this lineups 6-9 are god awful Are you watching the game or listening by radio?
  25. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 12, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) 8 in a row retired by Pavano. He's getting lucky. CQ, Beckham and Ramirez all smoked the ball.
