Marlins will attempt to trade Jeremy Hermida
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 30, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) That wonderful 127 PA sample size aside Kotsay is 8 years older, also a poor outfielder and hasn't posted a .320+ wOBA season since 2005 meanwhile Hermida has posted wOBA's of .372, .321 and .329 since 2007 when he played his first full season in the majors at age 23. If I had to put money on who would be the more productive bat in 2010 I know who I'd put my money on and it's not the 34 year old who I doubt would even hold up physically if given a full season's worth of PA. Yo K, I understand what wOBA is. What's considered below average, average and above average?

I don't know how to ask this without sounding ignorant. So I'll just go ahead and ask this question...Has anybody ever seen non white dude/dudes watching a hockey game? No joke. Have you ever gone into a sports bar and seen a bunch of brothas or latinos or any other minority sittin' around drunk yelling "GOAL!!!!!?"

Predict-a-Bulls
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) I want another shot at the Celtics if we make the playoffs. Just so that Hinrich can throw that little **** of a point guard into the scorer's table again. That would be the only reason to want another shot at them. Because if they're healthy, we'd probably have to forfeit after game 3.

Hawks vs Bulls
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 10:18 PM) Mixed groups I agree. Basketball is just out for public consumption more than the NHL is, so chances are when you are in a group, people are just more exposed to basketball. However, right now, there is just more of a want for hockey than basketball in the city of Chicago. This isn't true at all. Nobody outside of hardcore hockey fans (and there aren't that many) gives a s*** about hockey in this city. That's just fact. Hockey in no way has the ability to draw the casual/bandwagon fan. For every 10 people, you might find 1 that can name 5 players from the Blackhawks.

Something to consider on the potential trade front.
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Not sure if this has been brought up in previous offseason/trade threads but I picked a quick blurb on MLBTR and he had Adam Dunn as a potential power lefty trade candidate. Now his career numbers pretty much match those of Thome at a younger age so I am posting them, pretty similar. Very high K//BB rate but also a ton of power and high OBP. He is owed 12 million for 2010. Anyone think he would make a decent one year rental to look at on the trade front? Career OBP = .383 and SLG = .520 but his K average is about 160 per season and BB is 100. Not terrible but certainly not Pujols. Ad about 34 HR/100 RBI per season. He is more DH material. OK flame away. Team Lebron off to an 0-2 start. If they get off to a slow start, I'd like to see how Mr. Lebron reacts. He lost a lot of points with me with the way he acted after they lost to the Magic last year.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) On the other hand it has to really suck to be an Indians fan and watch Lee and Sabathia dominate the postseason when you got little in return for the two of them. True. But the Indians don't stay down long. Their system is pretty loaded right now. I see them right back in the thick of things in the Central come 2011.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Cliff Lee is a great example of an acquisition that can lead a team to greatness. Just think if we could have had Peavy for a much longer period of time? Lee made the Yankees look like Little Leaguers. Amazing. And they got to keep the prospects they really wanted to keep. The Phillies aren't going anywhere for a while.

Wait a minute? You mean a team that features a former CY, last year's NLCS/WS MVP, the 2006 NL MVP, the 2007 NL MVP, arguably the best 2B in baseball, and three other all-stars has the audacity to be waxing the mighty Yankees at Yankee stadium? How can this be?

I didn't like the O-line before the year started. I like it A LOT less now.

Predict-a-Bulls
Man, you probably have to go back to the mid 80's to recall the top teams being so devastatingly deep/talented in comparison to the rest of the league. The Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Cavs and Magic are all, at least on paper, COMPLETELY STACKED! The Lakers, as much as it pains me to say, have to be considered the favorite. They have the fewest questions marks and added an all-star in Ron Artest (although I think they would be every bit as good had they resigned Ariza instead). The Spurs are a big wildcard. IF (big f***ing IF) Manu and Duncan are healthy all year, they're every bit as good as the Lakers, IMO. When Richard Jefferson is your 4th best player, you're the s***. And I love the McDyess/Blair additions. That pretty much takes care of the west. Ain't nobody else close. For the east? The Celtics, like the Spurs, are the wildcard. IF healthy, they're the class of the conference. They've got the best starting 5 in the game and a much better bench to compliment it than they had last year. I keep flip-flopping between the Cavs and Magic. The Cavs obviously have the best player on earth in Lebron. And if Shaq is the Shaq from last season, he makes them better. But it's hard to go against Dwight Howard, Vince Carter and a healthy Jameer Nelson. Their overall depth is insane. They legitimately go 12 deep. If the Celtics are healthy, they're my pick in the east. If not, I'm goin' with the Magic. Spurs over Celtics in the finals. But the safest pick is obviously the Lakers. As for the Bulls? 41-41. I think Dick Allen said it best. This is a team stuck in pure mediocrity for the moment. A playoff team for sure. But that's it. However, I will enjoy, hopefully, watching the evolution of Derrick Rose.

That entire month was something to behold. That's why I'll never hold it against anyone that probably overrates or holds on a wee bit too tightly to any member of that team. Will probably never see anything like that again (sorry to say).

How dare this thread make it to page motherf***in' 3? Wite? Heads? Ace? Where my brothers at? I'll keep it going. Ladies and gentlemen of Soxtalk. What do you do when a girl wants to bang you just to make her friend mad? And I know what you're gonna say. f*** HER! Problem is I kinda like her. Where my girl Steff at? Oh, Steff, if it's Halloween, IT MUST BE SAW! Oh, yes. No matter how many times I say they should just end it. I'm like a fat kid at a free buffet when a new one comes out. I have no idea what direction this one is going to go in. The last one was basically explaining how Hoffman and Jigsaw became a team. I really, really, really want to know what the f*** happened to Dr. Gordon. I can't wait.
