  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) Absolutely no one. Elvis Andrus is probably doing the best right now, and his numbers are average at best. Rick Porcello's 5-0, 1.50 ERA last month puts him in the lead right now. But yeah, not a lot of impact rookies to this point. Though I see that changing soon (Wieters).
  2. And McCutchen gets the call. This is madness right now. I cannot remember the last time so many top prospects were called up all within a couple weeks of each other. The game has indeed changed.
  3. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:11 AM) I'm excited that Beckham is being promoted. Even more excited that it appears we have a legitimate, can't-miss (or as close to it) baseball player within our organization. Just please, for more than once every decade, give me a White Sox prospect that succeeds immediately upon promotion and stays consistent. And that doesn't mean if he goes 0-3 tomorrow that he's a bust, or anything like that. However, I'll be very disappointed if he's 3-30 or something comparable; where it's obvious he's overmatched. Let us have this one, baseball gods without any of this "not everyone succeeds immediately" and "Robin Ventura went hitless...." type of bulls***. Amen! My patience with this team in regards to prospects is just about on empty. Joe Borchard, Jon Rauch, Danny Wright, Kip Wells, Brian Anderson, Ryan Sweeney, Josh Fields, ect, ect, ect. I want to see some f***in' instant results for once!. That doesn't mean he has to be Evan Longoria (although that would be nice), but it would be quite deflating if he sucks ass for a couple weeks and we end up sending him right back down.
  4. I'm still against this. But I choose to be positive. Either way I'm pretty excited. It's been a pretty damn long time since we've had the opportunity to call up a prospect of this caliber.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) Man, without Chipper, that Braves lineup is completely punchless. Amazing how bad these NL lineups are. The Phillies, Mets and Dodgers all have really good lineups. The Cardinals and Brewers are solid. After that? It's f***in' hideous.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) Man Jordan Schafer.. another guy who is going to be really good. Luckally he can play anywhere in the OF. Braves are just that damn good in their scouting. We will quickly see that with Tyler Flowers. The Braves, Dodgers and Red Sox, IMO, are the best in the business at identifying, drafting and developing talent.
  7. So how long is it going to take for multiple posters to trash Kenny for not coming up with a better package to net McLouth?
  8. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Mark Bowman says the Pirates will receive LHP Jeff Locke, OF Gorkys Hernandez, and RHP Charlie Morton. Wow, that's a pretty nice haul. Good trade for both teams.
  9. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) He will be. He and Dexter Fowler will be really exciting to watch in 2+ years in the NL. I agree. The Pirates have some serious talent coming up soon.
  10. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:06 PM) Do the Pirates have a guy they are looking at to replace McLouth? I thought he was a guy they planned on building around That guy would be Andrew McCutchen. He's one of the best position prospects in baseball. If this guy is as good as most people think, they won't miss McLouth at all.
  11. Ineptness in regards to drafting (including international signings) and developing homegrown talent, especially pitchers, for nearly a decade. That's BY FAR my biggest beef with this organization.
  12. QUOTE (Nokona @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) What in god's name just happened Their bullpen happened. It's hilarious that all of their problems for some reason are attributed to injuries. There's rarely any mention of how awful their bullpen is. Cubs bullpen rankings (among NL teams only). BB: 84 (14th) BB/9: 5.73 (16th) HR/9: 1.09 (15th) ERA: 4.70 (13th) These numbers don't include tonight's implosion. But everything will be fine once Aramis Longoria returns.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) I'm not worried about his bat, I am worried about the nine errors he has already in a much slower game at the minor league level. Bingo!
  14. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) Huh? They don't have THAT much space at the moment unless I'm reading your post wrong. Deng, Hinrich, Salmons, Gordon and Noah adds up to $34.8 mil. Add in Tyrus' qualifying offer or an extension for Gordon and you're over $40 mil, maybe approaching $45 mil. Even at the current cap of around $59 mil that leaves you at best enough for one max-type deal ($17-$18 mil depending on the exact math). Then factor in that the cap is supposed to go down, the two 1st rounders this year, plus cap holds for 2010 picks, and they probably don't even have enough for one as things currently stand. They can VERY easily get enough space for one max deal if they do some combination of letting Gordon walk, out-righting Tyrus and trading Deng or Hinrich for expiring deals, but to make room for two max deals they basically have to gut the roster of everyone except Salmons and guys still on rookie deals. Thank you. J confused the hell out of me. I wasn't sure if I was the only one that didn't understand how on earth could we clear enough cap space for two max deals. So I just stayed quiet, as I'm really not up to speed with contracts, ect.
  15. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) If Kobe did the same it would be magnified. Hell when Shaq and Kobe wouldn't shake hands it was magnified. When the Pistons didn't shake the Bulls hands after they got swept, it was a big deal. So no, it's not just LeBron. LeBron gets the worse heat though because he was the one showboating, posing before home games, and is supposed to be a class act. This guy probably hasn't known anything about class since 8th grade. What's funny is that a lot of Cavs fans have even called Lebron out about this. Yet we've got Bulls fans over here saying that it's perfectly OK for Lebron to act the way he has. "He's human!" GMAB.
  16. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) Everyone in this thread still proves me right. It seems that because it's Lebron, he's supposed to go out of his way to show that he's a classy individual. Well guess what people, he's human. If this was anyone else on that team that left, no one here would give two s***s. But since it's the guy who was supposed to win it all, the MVP, etc. Now he's a b**** or selfish because he didn't congratulate the winning team. Get the f*** outta here. I'm sure all of you have always made the unselfish decision when it matters. Dude, what don't you get? Nobody is claiming Lebron is Osama Bin Laden. I'm sure you didn't discover sports yesterday. You see guys in all sports at every level exhibit a certain level of sportsmanship after a loss. Why is Lebron exempt from this? Is it because he's "King" James? Is it because he's made us all "witnesses?" Let's say Lebron was just extremely emotional and disappointed after the loss and made a mistake or whatever. Instead of eventually giving Orlando their props, he comes with this - "It's hard for me to congratulate somebody after you just lose to them," he said. "I'm a winner. It's not being a poor sport or anything like that. If somebody beats you up, you're not going to congratulate them. That doesn't make sense to me. I'm a competitor. That's what I do. It doesn't make sense for me to go over and shake somebody's hand." He can't congratulate the other team because he's a winner? lol. It doesn't make sense to congratulate someone if they beat you up? What the hell is that supposed to mean? It doesn't make sense for him to shake somebody's hand? So in Lebron's world, you're not a winner/competitor if you shake the hands of the team that just whooped your ass. Yeah, there's nothing at all wrong with this picture. We just hate Lebron. He's evil. We just don't want to be witnesses!
  17. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 02:13 AM) Oh and when it comes to class, Jordan is not the person to bring up. He was more classless than Lebron. He just didn't lose. Stick to ISU related topics. Jordan didn't win 13 titles. He did lose. And he always showed respect and gave the other team their due. Nobody is saying Lebron is a bad person. He's just apparently a very sore loser.
  18. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 1, 2009 -> 01:52 AM) This is comedy. I've never seen so many people upset about something so pointless. If Dwight Howard did it, no one here would give a damn. Who's upset? Just observing Lebron acting like a little b**** now that his ass is going home. Nobody is even really making a big deal about it. I don't like Kobe. But he gets way more s*** than Lebron EVER has. Kobe immediately went over and embraced KG and Doc Rivers after the finals loss last year. If he were to have gone Lebron's sissy route, man, I'm not even gonna go there.
  19. Damn, I didn't realize what a b**** Lebron was. lol. Somebody needs to get him a pacifier.
  20. Extremely proud of this team right now. The White Sox are obviously a pretty big part of my summer. There's nothing worse than being out of it (2007) before the summer even gets here. I've got a feeling we're going to be in this thing until the end. HUGE homestand comin' up!
  21. Is there a more underrated player in all of baseball right now than Adrian Gonzalez ( he hit his ML leading 20th HR yesterday)? This dude is fantastic. He's surrounded by a bunch of scrubs (other than Scott Hairston), and he's putting up ridiculous MVP-like numbers playing half his games in the most pitcher-friendly ballpark in baseball. Why this guy doesn't get the 2001-2004 Bonds treatment is beyond me.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) Viciedo's been steadily improving with the bat, but yeah, he is still nowhere near ready. I'm not sure why some of us even thought he was during ST. I believe the thinking was that since Miguel Cabrera was ready at 20 than Viciedo would be as well. I love Soxtalk.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 31, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) Not too mention after a couple rough starts, Cliff Lee is also having a very good season this year too, era in low 3's and can very easily get into the 2's with a couple of good starts. He's actually not that far off from last year. He's gotten terrible run support.
  24. Viciedo BB/K is 0.13 (that's really, really, really bad). .653 OPS. And his D at third seems to be borderline horrible. He's 6th in the Southern League in RBI. So that's something to feel good about. But he's nowhere near ready for the show yet. So, yeah, I'd go with Beckham.
  25. There is no "race" at this point. It's Greinke and nobody is close.
