  1. The Red Sox own the Angels the way the Yankees used to own the Red Sox.
  2. The Brewers didn't win a World Series 3 years ago. That reason alone should make anything less than a title unacceptable. Yes, we won the division. Great. Will get to hang a al central division banner next year. But the goal is always to win your last game in October. Anything less is a failure.
  3. I wouldn't mind if the Rays won it all. You just don't go from last place to winning it all in one year. If they meet the Redsox, they'll be exposed.
  4. Thome might be our best bet at DH by default. That certainly doesn't make him the best option. His numbers across the board have declined in the 3 years that he's been here. That's not going to magically change next year. He had two good months all year (and also argubly the biggest hit of the year. Which I am thankful for). He's a feast or famine hitter now. He's either going to hit the ball 10 miles, groundout to the right side when the shift is on or K.
  5. I can now turn my full attention to the Bears. You will be seeing A LOT more of me posting in this thread and over at Talkbears.
  6. Very dissapointing end. But, yes, this team does deserve our thanks.
  7. Hey, if we can get something of value for Swisher then I'm game. But I'd have to imagine his trade value is extremely low right now. But like I said, he's still young and proven enough that he could either bounce back or some other team could give us something for him. Add to that he's signed to a very affordable contract.
  8. I don't want either back. But if we have to keep one, it better be Thome. Griffey adds NOTHING to this team. Not a damn thing.
  9. Title needs to be changed to "Good riddance OC and Javy."
  10. I actually think Swisher will have a bounce back season next year. He's young and accomplished enough that it's a reasonable expectation.
  11. As I said in the gamethread, we're in much better shape right now than we were this time last year. Next season starts right this second. Kenny and his crew need to get to work.
  12. Any of the 3 teams we could've faced would've been the better team against us. Again, we were fortunate that the Tigers and Indians imploded this year. That left the door wide open for a team that wasn't really all that to get into the playoffs.
  13. Typical Thome. If I had a dollar for every time he hit the ball to the right side while the shift was on I'd be living on the Goldcoast next to Oprah.
  14. A very depressing feeling when you know your season is about to come to an end.
  15. This is just so disheartning. I could live with a loss in game 5 on the road. But I really thought we'd come out smoking this game.
  16. So long, OC. You will not be missed.
  17. Hopefully, that's the last we see of Juan Uribe. Thank you for 2005. Thank you for your most of the time GG caliber defense. But we can't continue to have the equivalent to the pitcher in the NL in our lineup any longer.
  18. As a fan, I simply cannot adopt the "We should be proud. We were picked to finish 4th and won our division. It was a successful season" talk. This is Chicago. Not Kansas City. Losing in the first round will never be vied as a good season to me. And especially after 2005, nothing but a title should suffice. This team is not just flawed, they're terribly flawed. Now I will rightfully admit that we're in a much better situation than we were this time a year ago. But there's still lots of work to be done.
  19. What a fitting end to a pathetic season by Swisher.
  20. Hopefully, that's the last of the Griffey era on the southside. He's one of the best ever. But he seriously needs to consider hangin' it up.
  21. If only there were some way to get rid of Thome. Dye moves to DH. CQ moves to right. Stick Swisher in left. Oh, well.
  22. If Richard is anywhere near this starting rotation next year that would mean KW failed miserably at upgrading this rotation.
  23. I really, really, really miss the White Sox bullpen from April through June.
  24. True@brian. But he's got the speed of a pregnant hippo.
